If you get a call from this number don't call back and block it.  These people are total scam artists who will resort to calling as many people that you know or that they can link you to in order to get a call back.  They will threaten to sue you and tell you that you will be getting a visit from the Sheriff's office.... Don't believe anything.  They will absolutely refuse to give you any address or contact information claiming they don't have to deal with you because your file has gone to an attorney since you refuse to verify information or pay them.  Even if you have or had an old debt do your homework first because they are trying to collect on debts that are "time barred".  Do not answer questions, provide information or agree to anything.

I continually receive calls from this number requesting that  a "Cameron"  so in so call back. They finally left a message informing me that litigations would be started. I am not the person they are after and am tired of the calls.

Received a message from Lisa Johnson claiming that if I did not call back a law suit was going forward and the next contact would be by sheriff's office.  She also called my elderly parents asking questions on how to contact me and upset them in the process.  I reported them to the FTC.

They called me too. Left a threatening message about lawsuit and sheriff's department being my next contact. The problem was, the message was left on a number that does not belong to me. However, I did know the people who had that number and they contacted me to let me know what they had said. It also was Lisa Johnson ext 225. Then her "manager" David Ames got on the phone and he was obnoxious to the point of telling me I was a dumba....and I had better get ready to retain an attorney.  It was the same company mentioned in the responses above.
Glad I googled the phone #

Glad I googled the ph # before I called back - it sounded very strange getting a call out of nowhere like that - Lisa Johnson ext 225 also told me to call or I would be getting a visit from the sherriff's office...really ????  This person/company should not be allowed to do this & if I get another call I will be reporting it.

I sure wish I would have googled this phone number before I returned a call.  I am struggling financially, so I thought it was legit.  The extension they left on my voice mail didn't work, so I was finally able to leave a message with the "operator".  Their phone menu spoke of paraglegals, consumer debt etc.  I left a voice mail with just my name and also left my attorney's information.  An hour later, I received a call from a private number.  I don't normally answer private or blocked numbers, but for some regrettable reason I did.  It was a man calling me an F'ing B**ch...telling me I was going to die.  Automatically, I responded, "What"?  And, he just kept repeating that I was an F'ing B**ch and was going to die.  He was going to print out my bankruptcy papers (of which do not exist), and show all of my neighbors, and see how I felt about that.  He said me and Obama are the reasons the country is in the shape it's in.  I quit responding and put him on speaker, wishing I had a way to record him.  When I didn't respond, he said, "Oh, princess...the cat got your tongue?  You're a F'ing B**ch...you are going to die...I'll see to it.  Why don't you just pay your F'ing bills...etc."  He finally hung up.  And, I finally put two and two together.  I am seriously freaked out.  I didn't leave my phone number when I left the message....I'm trying to convince myself that he is no place near me and is just trying to scare me.   It worked....I am officially freaked!  And, PISSED!  I going to the FTC link right now and reporting him.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Received a call from 888-482-3886, stating they were a law firm and someone had filed a lawsuit against my deceased spouse.  They did not have his name correct, but they had his correct birth date.  I explained that my spouse passed in January of 2001 and good luck with the lawsuit.

A paralegal named "John" called my phone and left a message on my answering machine. Claimed his firm was going to sue some person named Barbara. Said this was the last call she would get unless she called him back, otherwise the firm would sue to garnish her wages and seize her assets. When I called the number back, all I got was an answering machine. I filed a complaint with the FTC, and contacted an attorney to get these people to detach my phone number from the person they are after. I do not know, and have never known the person they are looking. I have had this same phone number for 20 years. I notice that all the complaints about the calls from this phone number are within the last two months. Seems very suspicious to me.

I had a voice message on my mobile from this number. Caller identified herself as paralegal Lisa Johnson of Sun Legal Resources. Problem is, the message was for someone I have never heard of, and Ms. Johnson who claims to be a paralegal violated the FDCPA by leaving the type of message she did. This is likely some collection agency trying to pose as a law firm.

If you can, get the company name and physical address (be warned, they may give you no information or a fake address).  Tell them that you will be initiating legal action against the caller for refusal to stop harassing you - under the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act).  Repeatedly calling someone other than the alleged debtor in an attempt to locate them is a violation of federal law.  You've already told the caller you're not the alleged debtor - and it's not up to you to get the alleged debtor to call him back.

Debt collector called us on a number that was formerly owned by someone else. I tried to explain that this number is no longer valid for their debtor, but rings to our business. The person was very rude and said he would continue to call this number until the original debtor contacted him with a cease and desist.
