They left a message saying I must call this number (halstad) if I want to avoid prosecution.  Called, guy went off about old legacy visa acct and wanted payment over phone NOW.  I had no idea what he was on about and asked for paperwork.  That was the end of professionalism for him.  He started yelling and tried to bully me into payment. Finally got a word in and said I can't do anything without paperwork.  He yelled some more and hung up on me.  Never heard back, but did receive a very generic looking "bill" sort of thing in mail a while later.  Totally bogus.

They sent me a letter saying i Owen on a old credit card i all  ready paved it  and they going to freeze my bank account

Follow up

Got this call at work again so pushed "0" and got a man who quickly got nasty when I told them to stop calling my job. He claimed they are suing me over a debt that was charged off in 2009. Also said they have sent me several settlement offers. When I said I have not gotten anything from Hallston Financial  guy said all nasty "don't you open your mail" I said I have not gotten anything with that name on it ever (and I haven't) and they needed to quit calling my job. He then got really rude and said "since you can't handle it transfer me to your Human Resources department". I again said to quit calling my job. He told me he was going to keep calling and he would call back in a few minutes to verify my employment. I told him if he did I would sue them. He did not call back again before I left work 90 minutes later.

Recorded message saying they were reviewing a case and if you wish to make a statement about the case push a certain # for the person handling the case before tomorrow or else.

It comes from Halsted Financial Services, a collection agency

Getting this message at work on an answer machine. When call this number say's it does not exist.
