I just got a call this afternoon from this number. 888-488-1051. I have no idea who they are, or what they want. I seem to get a lot of these calls for no apparent reason on my part. I would like to know who it is, and why they feel they can just call whatever number they like? I am a Canadian citizen and resident all my life. Who ever you are please stop calling. Upon doing a little research and reading, I have come to learn that it is a Credit Collection Agency out of Texas. Nice try, maybe you should stick to the USA next time!!!

This is a collection agency trying to collect old debts for Bell Canada. They will lie to you and threaten you but a little knowledge goes a long way so - if you are in Ontario there is a statute of limitations on consumer debts. If the debt was incurred prior to January 1st 2004 the limitations period is six years. If the debt was incurred after that date then the limitations period is two years. So anything older than that is an unenforceable debt (ie. no matter how much they threaten they cannot garnish your wages without a court order enabling them to do so and they cannot take you to court over it to get a court order because they have no legal recourse through which to collect a stats barred debt) and the limitations period only comes back into force if you pay them anything (even $0.01) or acknowledge the debt in writing. Merely talking about the debt is not sufficient to restart the limitations period. If they call you get their contact information and send them a registered letter stating that you do not acknowledge the debt and suggesting that if they wish to collect they take you to court (remember - they will NOT do so because they no longer have any legal recourse). At that point any further contact from them becomes illegal.

I just called the company and it was a collection agency, as I specified, for Bell Canada regarding a bill that I had already paid.

I got numerous calls from them, and now I got an email.
It says it is a collection agency, Metropolitan Credit Adjusters Ltd. , but every time I call this number, from a blocked number, it says '"The mailbox is full"?
I have not replied to the email.

Here is a copy of my email, excluding the Full name and email of the person who sent it.

I don't think it a legit call. Bell has it's own collection agency, with Montreal phone number, and they don't need to resort to outside companies.
This is my history. One of Bell agents "ALI" suggested me to switch from Business internet to home internet, so I did, but they didn't disconnected the old one, so they were charging me for two internet services, on the same phone line, the same modem during about the 4 same months. I spoke to people in Philippines, India, and who knows where else. Even the right person to talk to (as a lady said) couldn't do anything, when I refused to pay for one of the services, they sent me to their collection agency. I paid, because a lawyer letter was going to be more expensive, but they "STOLE" about $400.00 from me. I don't like to deal with Bell, and less from someone pretending it's them.

If this is for bell well then I have never even signed up for any kind of service, it's a scam

These sort of numbers call me all the time, I always block them and don't trust anything anyone tells u on the phone ur best bet is to block them or find out more info and take legal action this same number has called me today and left no message so why would anyone want to answer just block the number

I received a call from this number on my business cell seems when I got assigned it was for somebody else. They promptly removed my number from the contact and have not heard back from them.

They say they are from Bell Canada, and that I owe them $1200. I am from the UK and only been in Canada less that 2 months. Will not take NO for an answer.

These scumbags called me three times in one day looking for some woman with the same last name as myself. I called them and refused to tell them who I was since it's none of their business in the first place. I was able to block them with an app on my cell (Mr Number) since all calls from my home phone go directly to my mobile.

I called back and got some cow's voice mail and told her to take my number off her list, now we'll just see if that actually happens or not.

It is a collection agency called Metropolitan, so far I have gotten somewhat threatening letters from them and now am getting calls to my cell which I just started receiving today, they called 5 timestoday and of course left no message.  From what I have read it seems they almost exclusively work for Bell Canada.  I have already changed my cell number one and don't want to go through the hassle again.

I to, starting today, have found this number on my call display screen. 888-488-1051. Until I read the comments listed on this page, I had no idea who they were. I have had a long outstanding dispute with Bell over being outrageously billed for quitting their service(s). I mean Sattelite, Phone, and Internet. I absolutely despise Bell. Even after trying to make reasonable payments, they still find a way to harass the hell out of you. I was double billed or charged even after proving to them that I cancelled my services according to the prearranged agreement.  Even after all of this, they still insisted I owed something like $328.00 for cancelling fees!!! I can assure my fellow readers, that I will never again return to Bell.

I received the same email today as well. I have good credit and don't have any outstanding bills.

It is NOT credit, I have looked up this company and they are located in Alberta and their 888 number is not this number.  I answered, they hung up...
