All we can do is alert them by calling Sprint or go to your mysprint and check online tools and then go down on the bottom left to open text messaging and then go to block messages and add the number or email you got the spam text ..... but you can only add up to 50 and I've gotten 3 in the last 10 days.

test message claiming to be from Farmers & Merchants Bank. Message states that my debit card has been deactivated. Similar text message using a different bank name received a couple of days ago. Appears to be a new scam - or at least a new channel (text message) for the scam. Tried calling the number to see who/what responds, but call does not connect completely. Hopefully it's because they've been shut down and not because a bunch of innocent suckers fell for the scam.

Oh what's next! I got a text message from 36245/2/2 msg@brushfcu.com (Alert from Brush Wellman FCU) This is an automated message from Brush Wellman FCU. You ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate call urage 334-246-4229. I called knowing I don't bank with these people, it was an automated voice saying enter your card number, I made one up. It then asks for the expiration number, I made one up. It then asks for your PIN number. Of course I made one up, and forwarded the message to my local police and to the FBI.

Is everyone from Sprint/Verizon, because if so, this is probably a hack into THEIR systems to get our numbers.

I have received these things since July 3, from several different telephone numbers, from several different bacnks all related to FMB debit cards (don't have one and do not use these banks, either).

Please report to Sprint, your state attorney Gen and the Feds.  This is fraud.

They are phishing for your banking information to steal your funds and defraud you.  Don't call them.  Don't write back to them or e-mail them.

Report them.

It's not just a sprint problem, I have verizon and received a message a few days ago, saying my card has been de-activated and to call 562-608-8489. Didn't call, but it annoyed me because I was on my honeymoon in cancun, and I couldn't do anything about it.

We have 3 SPRINT cell phones in our household and all of our phones have been receiving the same fraudulant texts from "fmb.com" that everyone has been describing. Wonder if Sprint is in on this ... depending on your plan, you may be paying 20 cents per text that you receive from these guys...Check your sprint statements and make sure these text charges are reversed!!!

I just talked to Sprint customer service.  They're certainly aware of this problem, but right now all they're telling people is to ignore the texts, and delete without calling.  (For those who pay fees for text messages, those charges are supposedly being reversed.)  They say they're trying to track down the source of the problem.  I asked about the ability to block messages--perhaps by the string "@fmb"--but the guy I talked to said that there's no such feature.  Too bad.

Apparently we all have Sprint and we all have been receiving the same texts, I don't have an account with farmers either. Someone obviously got a hold of Sprint customers cell phone number hoping that any number of them will have farmer accounts & they probably intend on racking up phone bills but the number there supplying isn't working for them! I'm quite sure there overseas!! JUST BEWARE NEVER TRY & CALL THOSE NUMBERS ESPECIALLY IF U KNOW THE CALL OR TEXT DOESN'T APPLY TO YOU!!

I have been getting the same messages.....and ones like it every day for almost a week.  Why aren't these obvious scammers in jail yet? They must have used some ID to get this 888 number.  Could someone post a way to log a complaint to the FCC or whoever has responsiblity?

Same here as with everyone: I got Sprint. Every other day I'm getting similar texts;

Your...has been deactivated...
Your...has been BLOCKED...
...has deactivated your...debit card
Your...has been Deactivated...
Your...has been SUSPENDED

Plus a couple more that I erased before.
Each time it's from a different address (___@fmb.com)
Each time it gives a different callback number.

AHH!

I've gotten 3 spam messages from these dirtbags. I forwarded them from my phone to abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com as directed. I also made sure they gave me credit for 3 text messages. I also asked to have my text message function blocked for the time being. Unfortunately, they have to block you from receiving the messages entirely, so my friends can no longer text me for now. I told the lady at Sprint that I've done some research online and found out that the problem seems isolated to Sprint users and that they're all from email addresses that end in fmb.com. Hopefully that'll help them put a stop to this.

I am SO SICK of these messages!!! I've gotten 10 messages since the first!  All of them from either "unknown sender" or ****@fmb.com (**** = a variety of different letters) and one from tzhylk@yahoo.com and a bunch of different phone numbers to call, at first tehy said my card would be disconnected, and now they say it is disconneted.  I've never had a farmers and merchant account.  I do have sprint and i'm PISSED!  I tried calling some of the numbers back, a bunch didn't work and 2 were recordings for "farmers and merchant" bank asking me to enter in my acct #, and then my exp date and then my PIN... HA! (ok, to whoever would actually do that deserves it for being dumbasses)  i entered a bunch of crap numbers (my exp date i entered at 12/1923) and it took it and said "thank you your info has been updated" -- i kept trying to get to a person but it was all automatic.  can these spam messages be blocked???

You can report phishing to us by sending email to phishing-report@us-cert.gov

What is Phishing?
Phishing is an attempt by an individual or group to solicit personal information from unsuspecting users by employing social engineering techniques. Phishing emails are crafted to appear as if they have been sent from a legitimate organization or known individual. These emails often attempt to entice users to click on a link that will take the user to a fraudulent web site that appears legitimate. The user then may be asked to provide personal information such as account usernames and passwords that can further expose them to future compromises. Additionally, these fraudulent web sites may contain malicious code.

I received a text message on my Sprint phone today stating my F&M Banks debit card has been deactivated. Funny, I don't have an account with F&M.
The message says call (888) 490-4578 to re-activate.

Please report this FRAUD to the appropriate authorities. I Have!!
