I got a call from 215-253-3886, there was no message left or anything, but after doing a bit of research it seems that the 888-490-5484 is linked to the number that called me.  I get these calls all the time.  I started keeping track of all the calls i get stating pretty much the same thing in each message that they leave me since last June 2013.  I have counted at least 22 different phone numbers that have called me since this date.  They all pretty much say the same thing, there is a legal matter against me and they are going to serve me papers to my home and or work.  What a joke.  I am still waiting.  Good thing i did not hold my breath waiting or i would be dead a very long time ago waiting to be served and or arrested!!! These people are relentless!  When i do not answer their umpteen millionth call, they go and change number a few weeks later and try again.  Do they not get the hint!!!! I am not going to fall victim to their scam for money!  It amazes me with all the new technology in the world today, we can not get these freaking people to stop harrassing us!  So here it goes again!  DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT GIVE THESE SCUM BAGS YOUR INFORMATION.  THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND ARE TRYING TO USE ANY TACTIC THEY CAN TO GET YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thank you and i hope i have helped someone from giving into these scumbuckets!!!!

I received a call from 888-490-5484. She left a voicemail (said her name was Stephanie). She said "I received documents on my desk with your name and social security number and I have a 48 hour window to make a recorded statement". I called the number back and was on hold for about 5 minutes and hung up. Sounds too fishy to me

Debt Collector
Same company called me today stating they had "documents show up on their desk that I needed to "make a statement about before he could file". This is the third call in six months from one of these scam companies. And they are calling my work cell that isn't even in my name! I don't understand how they are getting the number!

Debt Collector
I received a call on my house and cell phone stating that they have some important documents in my name and social security number and that I needed to call them back. The number on the caller ID showed up as 817-422-0813 from Austin, TX. The number she told me to call her back on is 888-490-5484. My lawyer said that this is a scam to try and get me to pay them for a debt that is no longer available and they bought it off the original owner. Also he stated that according to the fair debt act they can not come after you stating that they have important documents or legal documents to be sent to my house or place of employment. I wonder how they got my number, because I never applied for credit since I moved to Texas.

They called me from 385-212-3574. Just said they have paperwork that came across their desk and to call them back at this number. It's obvious they aren't legitimate and I'm not calling back. I've dealt with a lot of junk debt collectors and gaurantee this is another one.

Update to my earlier post. I spoke with the financial institution and they are sending me a written statement stating that they do not share info. I also spoke with my family attorney who stated that since my phone number is not in my name, only three months old in regards to number and not been used for any credit/ business at all and never been documented with my name other than text alerts for the one card, its a good bet this company bought my info after it was stolen from target. Even if it was indirect, I am filing a complaint with the state attorney general, they cannot prove anything but they can investigate who this company is and there will be a record of them on file. The lady in my message used phrases like "I have your case on my desk" and "I need a statement from you". They try to sound like law enforcement/ court without actually saying it. There is also a scam, I was told, where there is no debt, these people say there is a debt and make it sound as though you will be arrested so you pay up because you are scared. Law enforcement must always state name, rank and precinct. Courts must identify titel and precinct/ courthouse. Law enforcement will rarely call you over a debt, they have enough issues chasing crime. Courts send letters and law firms send certified letters for legal documentation that you received it. If you do talk to someone like this ask their firm name. They may say they are the "legal Department" but they wont say they are a law firm. If they say "I am going to file a case" ask them who with, if they say "the court" ask which courthouse so you can take care of it there. Record your call if they ever go over the line and actually say they are court? law enforcement you have them committing fraud. In states where you have to legally announce you are ecording, do so if they hang up immediately they have something to hide.

Got a call from a lady trying to use large words used incorrectly to sound legal. She knew my name and called on a number that I only use for friends/ family and ONE debit card for text alerts. I have credit accounts only as an authorized user, none are in my name, i never have applied for credit.  I do not work. so either the financial institution for this one card shared my info or this is fallout from the whole target thing. I used this debit card once during the target problem time period. Regardless I never gave them my info and there was no other way for them to get my cell phone other than listed above. So they obviously are trying to sound officious and extort money from people by saying they owe debt. They probably bought some of the stolen target info online.

Debt Collector
piece of crap debt collector  (not a law firm) they use illegal scare tactics to try and get you to pay a debt that they can not prove that you owe. Or a debt that you are not legally responsible for any more because its past the statute of limitations. Pay them no attention! DO NOT VERIFY ANY INFORMATION!!!

Received calls  from 857-366-4331.  First one was from a female indicating to " call her back at 843, um,  888-490-5484 regarding documents" and the second was from Harvey "regarding paperwork you may be unaware of" at same number.  Yeah, I don't think so.

Called this number back .  It says please hold while we access your records.  I did not wait for them to access my records.  Thought that was a little weird.
