I just received a call from them stating they were a con ed bill pay and i owed $11,105..I nearly had a heart attack. I also called con ed to confirm and it is a scam.

They just called and the recording was something about not missing out on some opportunity - I didn't finish listening to it and I've turned off the number so it won't ring.   But the call I got from this number was not from Con Ed.   We don't even have Con Ed here.

I don't see how it's Con Ed - we are in SC and don't use Con Ed at all and never have.  In 62 years we have only use TECO, Lakeland  Electric and Horry Electric.

This bumber called my number on 6-14-13 for an arthritis study.

It's a scam! They said I owe 11,000 dollars, I owe cones a regular bill of a 100 dollars, I called coned and made sure, don't listen to these scam artists call coned directly

it's a fishing scam to get your credit card and social security information.
Answered and the automated machine requested me personally and asked to click 1 to confirm.
After i did they notified me i have a $10,000 past due balance and if i would like to be transfered to the automated payment system.
I hung up and called Con Ed, the rep told me i have only $150 balance and that it is a scam.

This is a scam 888-490-7661 is not from Con Ed!!!  I contacted Con Ed and they told me that i didn't owe what the recorded message said and that there automated system only informs you of a turn off notice and late payment.  Best practice is to call the company directly.  Con Ed system also recognizes your telephone number your calling from so its not the same system when you call this number back.  Watch out out there!!!

ConEd needs to be slammed with a class action for harassing customers. They called me from this number 10 times during business hours in one day... no exaggeration. I have been a customer for over 10 years. When I called to complain, of course it's a "glitch" in the system. What a crock. ConEd take responsibility. Times are still hard for some people and more than likely they are not new customers.They have been (not by choice) a ConEd customers for years. ConEd had already doubled everyone's rates, making the average bill no less than $100 per household. That being said, ConEd can wait for a little bit to get paid and in the interim, leave your customers with some peace of mind and integrity - after all, it's ConEd that is ripping of the American public... not the other way around. ConEd needs to prove their loyalty to their customers, not the other way around. B*****ds!

For over a year now I have been receiving Maria's collection notices from various credit card companies. This is disheartening enough. Now to have Con Ed call and say I owe money on a bill from the previous tenant is where words fall short. This has actually happened. Is it even legal? Why do they keep trying to charge me? I'm not Maria! I have paid my electric bills! Why are they calling me about Maria?! Is this a scam? Like where they spoof a number and call claiming to be a legitimate business? Taking advantage of peoples hardships for profit is disgusting. What if I really was late on a payment for something? What if I really did need health insurance? Or a small business loan? What if Maria's Penny's card was over due and I bore the weight of reading her mail? CON ED, I'M NOT MARIA!!!

Bill payment reminder - automated

I pay my bills ahead of time so I was concerned when I received this call and message on my home answering machine.  I called the number on my conEd bill and they said I have a zero balance and that I am fine.  Representative acknowledged that they received my payment ahead of due date.  Turns out ConEd did not even have my correct number on file.  So, I would suggest calling the number on your bill and straightening things out because it may be just as in my case that the phone call was made to you in error.

This number is indeed a Con Edison automated notification of a turn-off notice already sent via mail.  If you feel the need to call the number on your Con Ed bill then go ahead.  It's probably best-practice anyways.  But be warned; IGNORING CON ED COMPLETELY WILL GET YOUR POWER/GAS TURNED OFF.

Listen, this is Con Ed. They are surprisingly nice/accommodating. If you receive a call from this number, you owe them money, because THEY PROVIDED YOU GAS/ELECTRIC. Just pay them! Even if you don't have the money, call them back, because they are ridiculously accommodating and will instantly reduce your amount due as soon as you call them.

I called them back because I was getting a call every 30 minutes this morning. So annoying! It was ConEd because they issued a shut-off notice for my apartment becuase I forgot to pay my bill this month. The really annoying this is that there isn't an option to let them know that you paid already. I paid it online this morning when I realized I had forgotten, and they still keep calling!!
