You probably made her day. But, I never, ever heard of a telemarketer who stopped calling because anybody was polite! However, I wish you well.

Any time anyone asks "for the owner or the manager" I automatically say "put me on your do not call list" and immediately hang up. Once you say this and they keep calling it is harassment and you can take legal action against them for harassment. You have told them not to call you again and if they do....
Note that ALL toll-free numbers do not physically exist and no one can be calling from one. If you see one on your CID it is most certaiinly a telemarketer. Don't answer the call.Let it ring until they hang up.
I avoid all such calls as I have programmed my call-screening box to not ring through if the number is one of the toll-free area codes. Works wonders. All they get on their end is ringing with no answer.

We get these and others often. When the calls persist after rejecting I often will set an appt using a fake name then when the rep shows up I deny anyone is here by that name and I'm not interested. Waste their time like they waste mine. LOL

"Hello? ''
"Bojo?"
"Who's calling?"
" Ah, this is Tommy" from "Federated Payments"
"We are not familiar with Federated Payments"
"Ahhhh, I'll just hang up" ...and he did

Many calls and automated messaged and no chance to take off calling list. Finally got fed up and played along and set up fake appointment for some merchant card business. Of course didn't show, and they had my mailing PObox address. Got their mother company to call me to bi*** and found out their real company name. They spilled their beans after I asked if this was an attempt to commit identity theft. It's US Bankcard center. http://www.gotousbc.com/ So now you all can go report them :D

They call my business everyday and never say anything. Just dead air. Tried to call number back and call wont go through. Very frustrating.

Do not even bother filing a Do Not Call complaint - I have filed over two dozen against the SAME company from Bayonne NJ, and several for THIS number - the FTC does not give a rat's patootie. All the [people in the FTC want to do is collect their government paycheck for NOT doing a damned thing.
I filed a complaint with the Nj State Attorney General against the company in Bayonne - that company will actually INCREASE their calls if you ask to be removed from their list, and the NJAG is as cuorrupt as the rest of them.
Since the number they are calling is a private cell phone, today I took another tact and filed a complaint with the FCC! I do not have much hope that anything will happen - the gov't agencies are their to protect these scumbags, and not to serve us.

U.S. Bankcard (?) regarding the merchant account. "As of Jan 2013, there are discounts in rates that businesses are entitled to, and I need to get that information to the owner."
No. Goway.

To solve this problem, get a Google Voice number and forward all your calls to it. With Google Voice, you can block specific numbers from calling so that they get the recording that says they've reached an invalid number.

Update: Today it was a life person, asking "for the owner". When I said, "He works from home," they asked, "Well who handles the credit card processing?"
Ping, ping, ping. Spam alert.

When we pick up, it's just beeping. I keep wondering if it's just some sort of robo-dial that verifies if numbers are valid or not.

It worked for me too!! Thanks Michael!!

Good thread.
Thanks Michael, that last tip seems to have worked.

This is a credit card processing company. Call 800-217-8711 then press 3 which is the option to set up a new account. Obviously you do not want an account as these are horrible people, but you will get a real person to yell at and have your # removed from their list.

How do you get them to STOP?
D Edgren 2012-11-16 15:22:07 Unknown

I do no owe anyone any debt my cell phone is on the do not call list as well as my home phone. They call and ask for information about me my business I tell them I guess you didn't hear me when i said i don't need you your products or anything from you or anyone stop calling me.
they hang up call again the next day they need to be punished for harrassment! This is an out of control call center or a scam either way they should be prosecuted for harrassment. now two more calls to my house phone with faxes. Im going to file with someone about this and call my phone company and have them block private calls.

never leaves a message. When answered, no one is there. On callback - it says your call
cannot be completed as dialed.

These people are driving me crazy. They constantly call my business and when I tell them I'm not interested, they are very rude.

Susan from federated payments cut me off as i was trying to say hello. She asked for our president by first name and then said thanks right after i asked if she had his last name, she didnt want to answer right away. Sounded like she was in a wind storm could barely hear her. She then asked for a different person in our company and when i asked where she is calling from she then decided to tell me. I put her on hold to look up number and then she hung up.

Staggering number of repeated calls, weekly, different reps, male, female, supervisors..I am happy as a clam with Intuit that intergrates with my Qkbks. This Federated Payment company begins with pretending to be Visa or Master Card, a new ploy saying my account was changed by Visa and they have some info wanting to send a person out? They don't identify themselves and I find this deceptive. I've asked them to email rates if they are so low, they refuse. Only wanting to send someone out to take up hours of my time, when I have less than 1000 per mo in cc sales. They are pushy, obnoxious, and desperate, I am no prospect they need to move on and stop harassing with repeated calls

I've decided not to get all stressed out about these calls anymore. The "Do Not Call Registry" is a joke. I block the persistent callers. Any phone # I don't recognize I pick up, then hang up. I don't want them leaving messages on my voicemail. Then I go happily on with my day.
cindy 2012-09-11 17:49:31 Telemarketer
They call and hang up. What's the purpose of that?
I hate all telemarketers 2012-09-07 18:26:56 Unknown
I don't know how to block these assbitches but if anybody calls me 2x same day I will do this-- add them to my contact list and make the ring tone silent(I created one myself), for one contact I can put 6 telephone ## under the contact,,usually I make the contact name just a dot or two dots or more( . .. ... ...),,this way they are stored as last contacts in my list, so they will cal me and it doesnt bother me that much,,only I will see missed call later:):)
