I just received a call stating it was from Direct Buy Sweepstakes Message Center saying I entered a sweepstakes for a $50,000.00 prize and it was within the past year or 18 months.  I was a finalist and should definitely be receiving some prizes.  When I tried to intercept the call, it was a recorded message.  Bee left the toll free number 1-877-431-2783 but the number on the caller id was 1-219-940-3101 with the name Jillian Minton.  When I returned the call, all agents were busy.  I am glad to see that this offer has quite a history of chosen winners, so I will not be so vulnerable!
Thanks!

Just received a call from Randy Bentley saying I entered a sweepstakes for a $50,000.00 prize and it was within the past 18 months. He left the toll free number 1-866-430-3177 but the number on the caller id was 312-488-1853 with the name Trent Brooks. Called the toll free number and talked with Renee who claims I won 2 free round tickets anywhere in the US to use within the next 18 months and when I pick up my tickets I will be entered in the grand prize drawing for the $50,000.00 home make over prize. I have to drive to my nearest Direct Buy store (which is about 45 minutes to an hour away) and claim my prize. She did not say anything about timeshares or attending a seminar. Sounds like the same call as everyone else they are just changing it up a bit to hopfully get someone to fall for it.

This is the same call that I received from Claire! 1-888-565-3696. I was skeptical because I knew I had not entered a contest of this sort and there was no mention of my name.  I hope alot of people come across this site. I called and the voicemail was filled!!  I am really concerned!

I received a message from Claire saying i was a semi  finalist in a $50K home improvement contest and was guaranteed one of the top prizes.  Phone number was 877-565-3696.  Wasn't in a hurry to call back especially since she didn't even say our name when the message was left.  That was a clue right there.

Message from Clair ($25,000 home makeover from Direct Buy up to 18m ago filled out sweepstake, never did) of the Sweepstakes group on 4/5/2012, saying I wasn't the big winner but, was a finalist with some good prizes.  She assured me this wasn't another sales gimick and I should get in touch with her.  Perky voice!  Called and left messages 3 times last week.  No response. Ph # was 877-565-3696. Glad to find this site.  She's a busy lady.

Claire's been busy (and PERKY!) of late.

Same call, same info about a sweepstakes entered up to 18 months ago that was available at over 300 locations.  We're one of the "finalists".  Same promises, same callback number 877-296-3020.

SCAM is now apparently spelled C-L-A-I-R-E!

I received the same message from "Claire". She told me to call 877-296-3020. I didn't bother because I looked around online first to see what people were saying. However, she called me from a land line in Gary/Hammond, Indiana and when I did a reverse phone number look-up, the number appeared for a woman under a different name that lives in Indiana. There is no way this is legitimate. Clearly, a SCAM

I just got the same message...from a Claire. I have entered a few sweepstakes, but generally do not as a rule of thumb so thought it might be legite, but did sound fishy as they did not say when I entered or whereei..toyota dealer, online, kids event, ect. I also tried calling back, more out of curiousity, and got her voicemail as well....which there was something we could do about this; it is sad to think of those who actually fall for such scams....

Received a voice mail from Claire saying I had entered a contest and was eligible for 1 of 4 big prizes which were on display at over 300 sites throughout the country.  She left a message for me to call 877-296-3020 to claim my prize.  The phone number she called belonged to my mother who had been homebound for the past couple of years so she could not have gone to a store to enter anything.  I called the 877 number just to see what was going on and I got Claire's voice mail asking me to leave a message.  I assume this is another scam to rip off the elderly.

An ever so perky Clair from the Sweepstakes group left a message with the same line...you have won one of 4 prizes as the result of registering for a sweepstakes within the last 18 months..I can assure you that neither my wife or I ever register for sweepstakes. The call back number was 877-296-3020. After reading previous posts here, I called back just for fun and got "Clair's" voicemail...what a shock.

"APRIL" LEFT A MESSAGE THAT OUR PHONE NUMBER WAS ON AN ENTRY AND WE HAD WON ONE OF 5 PRIZES STARTING AT A FLAT SCREEN TV ALL THE WAY UP TO A LINCOLN NAVIGATOR.  THE CALLER NEVER USED OUR NAME OR GAVE ANY OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE ALLEGED CONTEST. FOR FUN, I CALLED BACK FROM A PAYPHONE AND ALL I GOT WAS A RECORDED MESSAGE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE.

Yep,

Just got a call from Jill, I won 1 of four prizes and "Lincoln navigator" was mentioned. I returned the call and got an answering machine wanting me to leave a time where I could be reached.
I'm glad this place is here. Pretty sure it was a scam when they said 1 of 4 prizes for something I filled out in the last 18 months. I ended up going to one of these things for a time share and just wonder what kind of person would buy anything from anyone who got you there through dishonest means.

16 Ways you can be phone scammed.  - POSTED IN NOV 08
http://800notes.com/articles/Article.aspx/LFRVNXyqwQBNrAjLF8wQyg

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

2. Another phone scam involves calls from ?Prize Distribution Centers? that claim that you are the winner in sweepstakes or a lottery. Of course, you are not the only ?winner? in the lottery and tens of thousands of people received the same call. The goal of the scheme is to entice you to make a relatively small payment (for example, shipping and handling fee, a sales tax) promising that a much bigger prize will be sent your way. Once the payment is sent, you will most likely not hear from the company again, and a promised ?Lincoln Navigator? will not find its way to your driveway.

Maybe you have received these calls too

1.One of the ?hottest? scams in the telemarketing industry these days involves companies that sell Auto-Warranties. It?s usually a robo-call. The recording starts with: ?This is your final notice! The warranty on your car is about to expire?? Of course, the caller has no idea whether you even have a car, not to mention its warranty. After the recording is played you are connected to a live operator who often refuses to send anything in the mail until you make your first payment. The experienced salesman will use high-pressure tactics rushing you into making a payment.
Victims, who fell for the scam and ?extended their warranties? report that the companies often fail to send any paperwork and routinely deny policy payments.

Tracing the calls to the companies is difficult. The calls often come from telemarketing centers located overseas. Also, the companies often spoof their caller ID information to display someone?s else?s real number. When people receive these calls they dial the number they see on Caller ID and leave angry messages for an unsuspecting victim. Two-three days later the telemarketers change the Caller ID number and the scam continues.

3. Offers to Lower Your Interest Rates: The calls begin with a recording that makes a tempting offer to lower your credit-card interest rates. Then you are switched to a live agent who collects from you the credit card number and its expiration, name, address, and in some cases even your social security number. The telemarketers have no intention of giving consumers better interest rates on their cards and instead use the information to commit identity theft and run up unwanted charges.
Again, tracing these scam artists is difficult: they spoof the caller ID information and use numerous VOIP accounts set up using stolen credit cards. The best thing to do is hang up, report the call to FTC and warn others through 800notes.com.

I forgot to mention, that they told us that this was a travel club.  It all sounded so good, I'm glad we turned it down.  I feel for the people that didn't.  WOW THEY ARE GOOD!!  NOT
Hopefully they will be stopped before all this goes to far. HMMMMM  no number to trace it back.  If anyone has the number I would love to get it.

We got a call, and went to this in Plymouth, ma.  After we turned down the offer we got a scratch ticket, and got a paper to fill out and mail in.  Well that was a few months ago, and we are still waiting for our certificate and $1000 online shopping spree.  Of course I found the top half of the paper and there is no number to call
