same as Carlos.  Got a voicemail on the 19 of SEP saying to call in order to avoid interruption of services.  Returned the call (on a Sunday) and got an answering service.  Answering service did not identify the name of the card or bank.  All my legitimate cards have 24-hour operations, and the voice mail answers with the name of the card / bank.  Approach with caution

It is a new department of Bank of America.  They use scare tactics to get you to take their call.  I think they developed the department in an effort to lower their loss.  It may backfire on them as I am a very angry customer.  I know it is Bank of America because I called them to verify.  They say they want to help you when in fact what they want to do is update your employment information so they have the right to make changes to your account (lower limits, increase interest, etc.).  I told them if they wanted to do something for me they would lower my limits.  They said they would do that if I applied for their program that would require me to close my accounts.  If you close your accounts, all your other credit cards will have the right to make changes too because that then lowers your credit score.

They have called me 3 times today. The last time they left a voice mail saying that it was card services regarding , you guessed it, a change in status. I had googled this number today and read all the comments, so I knew what to expect. I called Bank of America, and unfortunately, the customer service rep was not very helpful, he said he could not guarantee it wasn't from them, but he never even asked the number. So I got the email for the fraud department. I'm blocking this number, if BoA wants to contact me they can send me a letter!

I got two of these calls today, second time left a message. There were some musical tones, then something about "card services" and there's been "a change in my card status". No other information given and no reference to any company was provided. I googled the number and found this site, then called Bank of America. They are being inundated with complaints about these guys and their fraud team is working on it. You should report all calls to Bank of America. THIS IS A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION TRYING TO VICTIMIZE YOU. Do not call them back, call Bank of America using the phone number on the back of your card and report these scumbags.

I received a call and a voice mail from this number today.  I called it tonight and it said to call back at their regular business hours but didn't give what their regular business hours were, or what company.  I knew then it was bogus.  I decided to google the number and found all of these postings. I'm SO tired of all the scams going on.

I also received a call this morning from 888-498-8835 and was asked to enter my zip or the last 4 of my SSN.  I called them back at that number and they said they were from Bank of America.  I called Bank of America and they said it was a legit call.  The BoA rep then tried to sell me on a debt repayment plan/consolidation but wasn't able to do anything like reduce my interest rate, etc.

I just got the very same message and did not return the call.  All our accounts are up to date and I was suspicious because they didn't leave the company name.  Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Yep, THIS IS A LIGIT CALL. After I received a call from 8884988835, I looked it up online & found this post.  I then called the BOA contact # on my credit card to ask about the number & they reported that it IS their DEBT SOLUTION DEPT. They were calling to let me know I was approaching my max limit because until then I had never gotten the account that high before. I then told her I had been laid off from my job & she set up a payment plan for me with BOA. If you are unsure of who is calling you, then just don't answer then call the BOA number on the back of you credit card & they will confirm. Again, this number IS NOT a SCAM!

I got a call from 888-498-8835 at 7:45PM PST.  I didn't recognize the number and was at my computer so I Googled it and found this web page.  At first I thought is was BofA and I have no issues with BofA so I assumed it was a sales call.

Turns out this is a scam call... (is there a difference?)

Just received a phone call from "Card Services" it wanted my zip code so I put a random one and then connected to some lady.  She wanted to verify and update my account, by asking me what my DOB was, I said why if your updating you should have it I am not giving it out.  I said I do not know who you are or claiming to be.  She went on to say she was with BOA so I said great what is the number I can call you back, she gave me this number 8883289458 when asked for her ID# to verify she worked at where she indicated she did not have one.  It was fishy from the start everyone beaware!!!!!

I just got missed call from this.  I called back the number to see who it was and the lady who sounded Indian claimed she was from Bank of America.  But when they answered they new my name and the last 4 of my credit card number without me saying anything!  Does this mean they know my whole number?   They wanted more information to verify but I just hung up cause I know BofA will NEVER ask for any of that stuff.

I began speaking to the caller then decided it was smart to call the customer service on my BOA cc... when I got through they confirmed that it WAS them calling to talk about lowering my APR or minimum payments or increasing my credit line. Better safe then sorry.

So I got a call from this number and googled it and got sent here. As the others have said, it started with a pre-recorded message about card-services and something and asked me to verify something. I was then transferred to a lady named Kim and she wanted to update some information of mine. She never asked for my SSN or my acct #.

She then went on to note some history of mine, knowing exactly what type of card/acct I had with BofA, when I first joined, my last payment amount, and somehow knew about a delinquency I had with my HSBC card early this year. She mentioned something about not having any programs available for me (??) and left me with a # to call in case my situation changes in the future.

Not sure what I just discussed with the person, I called the # on the back of my CC - 1 800 732 9194. I spoke to the representative and I told him what just happened (received a call & not too sure if it was fraud or not) and he told me that it was BofA's debt solution branch. They were calling to see sort of gauge my financial status or whatever to see if I would qualify for their debt repayment plan or something over 60 months (lower monthly payment, apr%, etc...

So...seems ok?

Received a call from this number last night - same as others reported, when I tried calling back, the office was closed & voicemail told me to call back during regular business hours.  After seeing postings here, I checked with BofA and here is their reply:

I just got the same call as described.  I called the number back within 2 minutes of the message and they were closed.  I Googled the number and found this info.  I called BofA and she said that the number DOES NOT belong to them and no one had called me about this account for any reason.

Roxie is lying.  She probably works for them.  Never ever give out your credit card # to anyone who calls you.  I called BOA and it is NOT a number related to them.  They told me they are trying to deal with 1-888-498-8835 and put an end to this.

Update...I called B of A AGAIN! The guy on the front line of the call said he knew nothing about it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she verified who the person was I spoke to initially by looking her up in the company directory. She was able to tell me that the woman worked in Customer Assistance/Collections and was based in Phoenix (which is exactly what I was told). I asked the supervisor to send this woman an email and have her contact me directly (at a different number). The woman had a very distinct voice so I will know whether or not it is really her. I have not heard anything yet but I just got off the phone with them and will write another update when/if she calls.

I am no way affiliated with B of A. I sell insurance for petes sake. Being the skeptic that I am, I DID CALL B OF A AND THE NOTES ON MY ACCOUNT VERIFIED EVERYTHING WE DISCUSSED...GEEESH.  If you don't believe me, call B of A yourself AND ASK TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR LIKE I DID.

1-800-732-9194 I got this number from their website under credit card contacts.

Why do you think I didn't do anything at the time of the call? I was skeptical.  And, having been a victim of fraud in the past, I placed a fraud alert on my credit reports to call a specific number if credit was applied for. Like I said, I did not give any personal information except for my mothers maiden name, and they never asked for anything else.  I called the 1-800 number for credit card customer service on the B of A website and everything has checked out. They knew too much information like the name of my account, (Gold Option), they knew the full account number already, exact rate, balance and history ($ amount) of past payments and that I already scheduled a payment to be debited from my checking account on 11-5.  Please tell me, how would anybody who is not affiliated with B of A know this information???? I can see somebody finding partial information and asking questions to fill in the blanks but they did not do this with me. If I find out any more info, I will be sure to post it here! I'm calling them again...

I call B.S. on what Eddie is saying. I think he is a part of this organization, and is just saying this to try to get ppl to call the number back.  If what he is saying has any grain of truth to it, it's a loan company of some kind, using fradulent methods to get your account information so they can offer you a loan.  In other words, it's a scam. Don't give them your personal information.
