This is basically an "error" message from Vodafone, who are trying to deliver a multimedia message (i.e. picture/video message) from someone (usually someone you know) to your phone, but your phone is unable to display the picture/video. Sometimes the sender's phone number can be seen within the message (i.e. +447...) - ask that person (usually someone you know) to stop sending multimedia messages to your phone! I hope that helps.

Have just joined the club of 888-501-0000 calls on 31 Dec 2012 (2145 hrs) _ cann't display message etc.

I receive six or eight messages a day from this number. Text says that message is unable to be shown. Tried to return text with STOP; it always fails.

Yes I have the same problem - using an oldish phone- as fones should be used for - ie PHONEing ! Have ignored the rubbish BUT its the intrusion. I am on Vodafone Pay as you go . cannot even reply to , etc !!

I am getting three to four calls a day from this number.

Get repeated texts that dont display. Approx 5-6 a day.

forgot to mention this happened the instant I travelled into Scotland by road from England last week. Mine is an old phone to.

Keep getting calls upto 6 times a day. Cannot read message. A great annoyance. Can we get it stopped?

every day receive text messages 4 times but cannot open these ,how do I cancel this as driving me mad !

The 8885010000 number is vodafone live!!  
If you go to phonepayplus.org.uk or 0800500212 they will confirm this.  
I've just contacted vodafone - they claim they have no idea whom this premium number is, therefore my PAC code has been requested and my 30 day termination of contract issued!!
Vodafone are a bunch of cowboys - they will try giving you a load of excuses, be harsh when you call them and they will be putty in your hands.   I also got them to issue a refund!

Forgot to say - my Son has just found by taking SIM Card onto his modern Phone - that the number is actually - 8885010000 1238-   Hmmm,
