I suspected a phishing attempt and called 888-505-5780 and receive this recording:
"The destination you are trying to reach is unavailable at this time."
I don't have an account with Farmers & Merchants. This is the third time I have received the same message from sfhpco@fmb.com. fmb.com is the legitimate site for Farmers & merchants bank

SCAM ALERT!!!  I do NOT nor have I ever had an account with Farmers & Merchants Bank and I have received the following SCAM texts on my Sprint cell phone.  

This came as a text from Farmers & Merchants Bank advising that:
1. has suspended your access to our banking services... call 866-608-6900  hddonq@suneast.org
2. has deactivated your DebitCard... call 206-691-8142  kbwpvq@firstfederal.com
3. your 5403-13xx-xxxx-xxxx DebitCard has been SUSPENDED...  call 888-534-7944  lucrl@fmb.com
4. your Debit-Card has been deactivated... call 888-510-2724  mbrpge@fmb.com
5. your FMN account has been blocked and placed under IRS review... call 866-720-6282  uzeozm@fmb.com

Obviously they are going systematically through phone numbers and sending out this text, hoping to nab a few gullible people.

I have received sever text messages on both of my phones, both from seperate phone numbers, seperate caller id's but with the same message.

I received a text from MsgID6_ZR8P47XF@v.w with a call back number:  562-608-8195.  Message states:  "FARMERS and MERCHANTS BANK Alert.  Your CARD have been DEACTIVATED.  Please contact us at 562-608-8195 to REACTIVATE.

Total scam.  I tried calling back with a blocked number, and the call would not go through...

Come on Lisa - Sprint is not selling numbers.  Why is is everyone just assumes that the someone SOLD their number.  ITS CALLED CURRENT TECHNOLOGY!

the scammers are using a Robot dialer - it just dials every number in sequence and sends the text message. There is not one person typing this message over and over again.  

YES ITS A PHISHING SCAM - YOU HAVE TO REPORT SO THEY CAN BE STOPPED!

ITS PHISHING - using Robo dialers to get to everyone regardless of whether you have an account or not.

NEVER EVER RESPOND TO THESE TEXTS,CLICK ON LINKS IN EMAILS OR CALL NUMBERS LEFT IN VMAIL MESSAGES DIRECTLY.

IF YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT CALL THE BANK DIRECTLY USING THE NUMBERS ON YOUR STATEMENT OR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD. Or look it up on their websites.

I am reposting this message for each phone number I recived a text message from in order to help inform others and help prevent people from losing their identities.

I have received about 12 text messages since June text messages all supposedly from Farmers and Merchants Bank. Each time they request that I call back their toll-free number, which constantly changes, in order to reactivate a debit card.  It's driving me insane. They are wasting my text messages and it's a blatant scam. My cell phone is from Sprint with a CA exchage, too. I've called them and they can't seem to block anything.  My guess is they sold our numbers to a variety of companies and now we're getting screwed.  I demanded that Sprint credit me for each text as I do not have unlimited texting.

I called 4 of their numbers last night from a pay phone. One came up as disconnected, the other 3 said service was unavailable.

I've received several texts from fmb stating my debit card is
blocked, reported to the IRS, call to reactivate, etc.  Non-working
phone numbers given, I don't have any accounts with fmb and I do have
SPRINT.

Text message from this number as well as from 888-510-2724, 866-720-6282 and 888-720-6282 all from Farmers and Merchants bank regarding a credit or debit card.  How can I stop these messages?  Have reported all to SpringPCS @abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com. Called sprint and they say they cannot block this number.

I have received 4 texts telling me my account at fmb has been blocked but I am a T mobile user but live in southern CA.

It's a hoax. I called Farmer's and Merchant and they confirmed it's a scam. Do not reply to it. Just report it.

Okay, the FCC says this is a fraud issue and it has to be reported to the FTC (Federal Trade Commision) # is 1-877-382-4357.

Sprint says to take this step to stop the texts.

i am on the phone with sprint now and they are acting like this is the first they have heard of it !!! my number is listed on the do not call registry and i text this back to all  the texts i have received from these idiots. it stopped for awhile, but they are coming back again to two different cells i have with sprint.

I am from Southern California Orange County--and I,Too, am a Sprint customer.  I have received my 4th test message similar to others posted with Farmers and Merchants Bank Blocking my Debit Card.  I also received the same thing from the same fmb.com about a Wescom Credit Union debit card being BLOCKED--I have never had a Wescom Credit Union account or a Farmers and Merchants Bank account.  Sprint advises I can activate a 4 digit code to block ann fmb.com text messages--I don't trust it though because the first names are different.  I am going to call the fraud hotline on Monday and report it.  This is the problem we as cell phone users will face since telemarkerters are starting to use cell phone number lists to solicit business.  Now the criminals can use the same list.

We have been contacted saying we need to change our debit caRD NUMBER AS IT IS BLOCKED.  We went to the bank and they could do nothing, they state the FBI is on this. The scam person says to call 1-888-505-5780 and give them your debit number! PLEASE!. Each time we are texted it is a different person.Called sprint they did nothing.

I am from Cal. and have sprint, I have been texted every day stating our debit card has been blocked. Each time it is a different caller.We went to F&M and reported this. They say the fbi is on it.

Same story- same text message and I have sprint.  I also don't have a text plan- pay for each one.  Is Sprint involved?!

I have received the same message 5 or 6 times now.  I knew this was a scam because I was at work when I (we) received the first text.  The same message went around the office to ALL of my coworkers.  We all have company issued phones with sequential numbers.  At the time we kinda joked about how we all had accounts with F&M bank which were blocked at the same time - "No I didn't pay my bill either...HA HA HA".  But now it's become an annoyance!


I wonder what would happen if we would all collaborate to BOMBARD the sender's email account by replying with a bunch of spam of our own?
