The people at the other end of this phone were just calling for a follow-up on my recent Toyota service for my Avalon.  I did expect a call, but I did not know what number they would use.  After seeing others in this log receiving the same 'type' of call, I am reassured there is nothing suspecious or of concern.  As a matter of fact, I welcome any call after my vehicle has been serviced, just in case a problem was not resolved.  In my case a problem arose after I took my vehicle in for a check engine light problem.  They said it was an O2 Sensor (expected) and I would have to replace my transmission.  I know better than that because I just had my transmission taken out and the seals replaced and the internals checked.  It passed with flying colors.  So now I am placing a complaint with our Attorney Generals Office.

First of all, I work there and you people are rediculous! You dont have time to anwer a phone for a breif 60 second survey but can waste your time writing up these blogs about the number that called you! How pathetic. The purpose of the survey is in your benefit...Not to aggrivate you. The dealerships want to know...and care about the service that YOU received as an individual. If you had a bad experience, the want to know why and what they could have done as a dealership to better serve your needs. And if you had a bad experience, they actually want to help make it right..You say that its a bad business practice, but they do it for there customers. I know it can be a pain when no one answers after the first hello but we do not hang up on you and we do answer the call as soon as it is given to us. And obviously you people have caller ID..... So just dont answer the phone!!!! How simple it is....!!! Or, take 60 seconds out of your ever soooo busy life to answer a couple of questions without being ever so rude. Show that some poeple in this world still have the mentality to be able to answer a few questions...politly... I promise...you'll live.

I get Continuous calls, but when I answer no response or a hand-up sound.  Very annoying.  I called my phone company to have the number blocked but they advised me that I needed to contact my local precinct first.   Who needs that kind of headache.  Call Toyota and complain about how their so called survey calls are an annoyance.  Hopefully, enough calls from us will prompt them to do something about the issue.

I got more tha a dozen calls from this number in the last week and always a dead line on the other end.  I called back the number and it is a customer satisfaction survey company based in Dayton Beach FL, named DME.
I recently had my mini van serviced at Thomasville Toyota (in Thomasville GA).  This company was calling for a customer survey on their behalf.  When I called the number they wanted me to give them my information and compelete a survey, I told them what they could do with their survey and requested my number be removed from their call list.  I also informed them that I was getting they repeated calls and they acted like they had never heard of such a thing.

I brought my car into Toyota Atlanta last week for scheduled maintenance. The service was AWFUL. The car has very low mileage and needed the first set of brake-pads. They tried to "invent problems" with the braking system. The claimed that the disks have to be resurfaced and the ball-bearings repacked. So they tried to turn a $100 job into a $500-$600 brake job on a car with less than 30K on it. Needless to say I was angry (and didn't go for the scam after my mechanic friend told me this is a scam). And I wrote about this to the dealership.

Now I'm receiving calls from 888-508-4586.

I got three calls from this number with no message, next time when i answered, there is no one talk. I called back to this number, a live person answered and said this is an agent/company for "Customer satisfaction survey" (forgot exact name). A name too vague to trust. They need me to give phone# to find out why and who called me.

I had several activities recently involving Toyota, a hotel, car rental, etc. So I am not sure which activity triggered this "survey". But now I assume it is from Toyota service, the outsource to third party for survey.

It is from Toyota.  They pretty much ask you if everything was okay with your service.  If it was not, they give you another number to call.  Silly.

What follows is a Transcript of exchange from Mike Panaggio, DME

Thanks for the input. I will take it sincerely as it was meant and make
sure we get busy managing better ways to utilize the phone systems
complexities. Not easy anymore. We are far from experts. We are trying
to do the best we can believe me.

Mike,

Good to hear from you. You seem honest and sincere and I appreciate
that.  I will take your word that you are busy managing people and you
should in turn realize that other people's time is valuable, not only
yours, Mike.

Not knowing anything about your call system I can only assume that your
automated system attempts to reduce your time/expense at the cost of
those you are trying to contact.

What I do know is that your system has called me 4 times over the last
few days.  Three of those calls I answered with no one on the other
line.  The last time I let it go to voice mail, where a message with no
content was left.

If you think my experience is unique, guess again Mike.  If you have not

already done so, do a simple search on the web for the number you make
these automated calls from: 888 508 4586.

Two sites that come up:

http://whocalled.us/lookup/8885084586

and

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-508-4586

Looks like others have had the same experience.  So either 1) You are
involved in a shady business of which you are aware.  Or 2) Your
business practices have some unintended consequences, of which you have
previously been unaware, and intent to remedy pronto.

It is up to you how you decide to conduct your business practices, but
it is up to me as a consumer to let those that desire to provide
services to me know that there is a limit to my patience and sometimes
little things have substantial consequences.  I am not putting you on
notice for you are not directly providing me with a service.  But I have

put my local Toyota dealership on notice and have had the courtesy to
inform you of such.

And don't ask me about my vehicle service.  You guys missed that
opportunity a few days ago.

The company is DME http://www.dmecorporate.com/
Email mjp@dmenet.com and tell them what you think about their business policy. Also tell your auto dealer or who ever uses their service that gave them your number what you think about it.

After finding this forum, I called the number. They had my name and date of my recent Toyota service. I simply interrupted them and requested to be removed from their contact list. I also indicated that the reason I wished to be removed was the ringing of the number with an instant hang-up.

The guy who spoke to me was courteous and told me my info would be removed within 12-24 hours although legally they had up to 30 days.

My next call will be to my Toyota dealer to strongly complain about the survey company.

Survey
Had the same number call me with no one on the other side of the line.  It started about a week after having my Toyota's A/C repaired at the dealership.  After reading this forum, I too called the number upon which someone answered immediately.  It was a contract survey company.  I am assuming that it was in regards to my Toyota experience being the mechanic mentioned that someone might call me with a survey.  He did not warn me that it would be harassing phone calls.  I told them I didn't appreciate the nature of their calls and they immediately offered to put me on the do-not-call list without attempting to pursue their survey.
