I also got the same call and the next day I got a call from someone saying they are from the S. D. Sheriff  department  saying that if I refuse to pay, that a warrant will be issued for my arrest.

I was told this is a scam. A Mr. Michael harassed my wife by calling 3 times in five minutes saying if I didn't call Peter Woods who is supposed to be a Federal Mediator, I would have criminal charges. The number I was to call was 888-519-9244. Beware of this as it is a scam.

Just received a call from a "privet" number, they said they were looking for my Girlfriends sister, they said they were personal investigators and federal mediators  and her sister had to call 888-519-9244 today or they were sending someone to her work place and she would be arrested and left a file # for her to talk to Peter Wood.

this is a total scam the words they use are totally illegal , these people need to be shut down trying to report them I can't believe that this kind of people are actually in business crazy.

Just got a call also from a woman claiming to be calling from the State. She mentioned the criminal charges and to call Peter Woods.  I called and left a voice mail.  Thanks to all your posts I will be able to tell this idiot off once he calls. Also using number 888-519-9244.

Scammers, how i hate you b*****ds! Here goes, public beware of Peter Woods calling from 888-519-9244, he is not an attorney or federal arbitrator. He is a lying scam artist. Somehow he has devised a scam about collecting on old paper from check cashing places. These were all disband in 2008, and were in no way insured or can be collected on. They cannot proceed on theses like they were bad checks, a loan and a promissory note (check) are collected differently. In no case can any collector contact family members and tell them any information regarding the debt. The Federal Fair Debt Collections Practices act, protects the consumer against illegal collections acts. I will be reporting this to all proper authorities. Including the local media in Arizona.

They have called me and my family claiming criminal charges pending.  When they discover I am in the Criminal Law field they all of the sudden have the wrong person.

Thank you all for confirming my suspicions. My boyfriend had been getting calls from his brother stating Peter woods is trying to get a hold of him about a bad check from 2009? Devulging third party information to my whole family, that Maricopa county sherriffs are coming for him etc?. I called Peter woods back and he blew up on me? Oh thank god again for all if your comments.

They called my wife and left a message. I called them back asked the lady who she worked for and she said Peter Woods and he is a federal mediator and arbitrator. I said, "Well, so am I, and you are a bogus operation, since no real mediator or arbitrator would threaten a criminal action, and what you are doing is a crime. Moreover, my wife has no debts or other legal liabilities." She just hung up. Someone needs to identify these people and have them prosecuted.

i received a call tellin me that there is a claim that will file in my county tomorrow from peter. when previously another lady called me from 8889766249 telling me i had 48 hrs to get it resolved with peter before its filed in my court. peter said i owe chk n go frm 2007.. i adv him that ive already paid off the debt two yrs ago. he states that hes the only one with the doc. i asked for his email or fax  to send my proof and he askd for the file #. i told him that the doc will show all tht info. he refused to give me the info and hung up in my face.,

I recieved a call from a Charles saying to contact Peter Woods or I will be served papers at my home or place of employment. I called the number and it was a voice mail asking to leave a detailed message. A few years ago I had the same problem from a company in FL so googled and found they are trying to pull the same Scam. Last time I told them I really wish they would come arrest me, I am down and out so if I am in jail I can at least have  a roof over my head and a free meal They called me a few names and hung up. Have not heard from them until now.

I called the police and they said that i/we should or can report this by calling 1-877-438-4338 or go online to FTC.GOV thats the federal trade commision. they take care of these type of scams.

I got a call from this same guy he told me i had 90 min to give him 300.00 via credit or debit card or he was sending the sheriff with a warrent for my arrest. then i got a voice mail from a sheriff who sounded alot like this peter guy i was talking to. I called the police to see if there was a case with my name and they said it was a scam.

That's the same case number they gave my dad!

I also had a call from Peter Woods with number 1-888-519-9244  saying he was a process server for Cleveland County with a case # 380980 with the Federal Mediation Office.  After several back and forth calls he stated it was a check that I didn't make good on in 2008 to a check cashing business.  I told him no!  He then said was your SS#-----   I said no!     THIS IS A SCAM!!!  
Before I talk to him I went on the internet to look him up so I knew it was not true.!!!!!   Be aware of this guy.

My father received a call from this number, they asked for me. Stated they were from the Federal Gov't and I had a case that would be escalated if I did not call back today.

Just got called by the same number claiming he was a lawyer and his name is peter woods. Does the name sound firmilar?

Then said I had criminal charges and the sheriff will be calling me..still no call from the sheriff:/..seems like a big SCAM!!

Deanna told me she was calling from "the state" and there are criminal charges pending against my husband and he needs to call them right away to discuss them.

Also got a call from this number stating the same thing.  Calling from Washington D.C. What the hell?

Claims he is a representative from the federal government and there is a criminal complaint against me.  If I do not call them within 24 hours a process server will be sent to my place of employment.  Never mentions a specific company and he sounds like he is reading from a script.
