I too was contacted by these people. Same story, lower credit card rates. Unfortunately I didn"t check them out. I paid 795.00 to do this. I did get a packet in the mail from these people. It has Dept. analysis reports,Payoff reports etc. I also know my money is history. It only takes once to learn not to get burned again. I submitted a report with the BBB. Be aware they are out there.!

Initially this company left me a message implying that they were calling from my credit card department. After I called them back, and by the time I realized who they were, I was already persuaded  that they would successfully lower my credit card interest rate to 4.9%, and that the cost of the service "would pay for itself" within four months. Right.  (My numbers are registered with the National DoNotCall Registry, by the way, so it did not occur to me that the message they left was fraudulent.)

The charge on my card was from a company called "Clear Breeze" -- had they used this name I would have caught it right away because it comes up in all kinds of scam-report websites, but CFS does not and I missed my window to figure that out in time.

The paperwork never arrived. The "financial advisors" never showed up for their confirmed appointment times. When I called them (because they didn't call me when they said they would), they would tell me that it says in my file that someone called but there was no answer (not true, I was at the phone when they told me they'd call). Finally, somebody listened to my list of issues and told me I would receive a credit on my account.  I called each week for the next four weeks to check on it, and was told each time it was "being processed."  Finally at the end of November, they called to tell me the refund had been processed, and they gave me the confirmation number. Of course, the refund didn't appear on my next card statement because the transaction was "issued" just before the Dec. 1 statement was sent out. I forgot to check in January and February, but when the balance on my March statement seemed unchanged, I called again.  Each time I called they brushed me off by giving me the confirmation number in their records.

Knowing what I know now, I realize that they were buying time to slip through the 120-day window from the date of my end-of-August purchase. I have no backing from my credit card company now and they know it.

The truth is, these people are manipulative, persuasive and determined to slip through any crack to get what they want.

Status as of 3-23-09: After more than half a dozen phone calls to CFS today, I am being told that they investigated the credit they issued me in November, and found that the merchant account that issued it is now closed. They claim that it has been issued, they have the confirmation number, and there is nothing more they can do. I will not let this rest. I have reported them to the FTC, the National DoNotCall Registry,  the FL State Attorney General and now the WA Attorney General. I am also contacting good friend at the IRS fraud division.

I will support and participate in any action to uncover the truth about this company's fraudulent practices and effectively stop them in order to protect other people from falling for this scam.

This company claims to be unable to refund my money because "the merchant that issued the refund is now closed." This is unacceptable to me. The merchant I purchased the service from is Clear Financial, not some unknown, now defunct merchant who they claim has my money. A full refund is my immediate desired outcome, but I have politely given them many, many opportunities to rectify this situation with a refund and they continue to give me the runaround (three different customer service reps have hung up on me today because I continue to press them to give me an acceptable solution to our problem.)

I have very little expectation that I will ever see my $995.  But I will gladly support and participate in any action to uncover the truth about this company's fraudulent practices and effectively stop them in order to protect other people from falling for this scam.

this company claims to be Consumer Credit Group. called me from 702-506-4908 they wanted to know a credit card number that had an open balance and was in good standing.  They provided me with a 877 number instead of a 800 number. i gave them my credit card number, address, phone number and they looked up ALL our information about our bank cards and accounts. I called and cancelled my credit card and now have to call all my credit cards and inform them as well as call SS fraud 800-269-0271 and report to police....

I to received a call from this Company calling themselves Clear Debt Solutions.  They advised they were with National City Bank and they had my credit card # already as well as my credit report. They made promises of lowering my credit card interest rates as well as lowering my payments. For the magical amount of $995 they would "save me thousands". I said sure send me some paperwork to look over. I never received any paperwork and actually just forgot about the entire thing.  I have my credit card setup for auto pay thru my checking acct for a set amt and since I don't make any new charges I didn't even notice this charge come through on my februaury 2009 stmt. In April I received a letter that my pymt was short by $15 and therefore the credit card company had doubled my interest rate.  What I didn't realize is the reason it was short was because there had been the new charge of $995 that raised my balance and therefore raised my min due.  It wasn't until May 2009 that I disputed the $995 fraud charge on my credit card.  The CC comapany immediately issued a credit for $995 and I assumed it was resolved.  The next month the $995 was charged back to my acct because it had been more than 60 days lapse since the bill date and the disputed date. So now I have a doubled interest rate as well as a fraud charge of $995. I called the credit card comapny and had the misfortune of speaking with an arrogant rep named Robert Saylor who refused to let me speak to a Supervisor and said he handled everything on the "front line" and that basically he was the final word. He made me so upset that I told him I didn't want to do business with a company that wouldn't assist with FRAUD so he said he would be more than happy to cancel my acct. He gave me the phone # for the company that billed the charge but I realized he did not pull the # from his system and merely dd a google or yahoo search and gave me the ph # for the real company called Clear Debt Solution which is a valid company and not the company that belongs to the 1-888-528-4438 that bills $995.  I called the credit card company back and asked to speak to a Supervisor. Joanna was wonderful and comforting as she understood my frustration and said she had heard of this FRAUD SCAM before from this company and that it had happened to amnay people.  She offered to lower my interest back to the original rate and have the credit reissued and begin the investigation and have someone take over to resolve this issue.  Hopefully I will get the $995 back and be done with this whole mess.

I was called by clear financial solutions about lowering my apr rates and was shifted fromRandi Kelley to Dexter, to Brenna Krauss who were to call me back and never did. Took all info from me and when I realized the mistake I made called back to say I did not want the service was told to wait on the line and things would be done immediately for me.  I called my credit card company to tell them to stop the transaction from cfs and the said they couldn't that I would have to dispute it when my statement came in. What a fool I was to accept a call when I am on a do not call list and to think these people could have helped me. I have filed a complaint with the attorney generals office in PA, my credit card company and plan on informing the attorney generals office in FL.   This happened on May 26, 2009 and today is May29, 2009. I tried today to call clear financial and spoke to a manager who informed me that I did have services done and money would not be credited to my account. Stay clear of Clear Financial Solutions

I got a recording when I anwered the phone saying  this is your last chance to reduce your credit card bills , press 1 or such number now  so i did   , i usually don't but i was upset and tired and not thinking clearly, i have had alot of things going on lately, a sick 11 yr old with a tumor, a 83 yr old mom i'm taking care of as she fell and pulled her shoulder out of socket, broke it also and has trauma nerve damage and many therapists come to get that right hand going again, I'm tired so caught on a bad moment,  oh we charge you no money unless we get you a saving of $2,500 at least and i asked if there was a fee they  said no , not unless we save you that 2,500     i wrote everything down they said , names also of every supposed bank i had a card account with and my sears mastercard was canceled which i wasn't really sure happened so i called them back later and they said yes    also the lady from sears asked my permission first if it was ok to speak tsten Rossi who was my advisor,   also before Justen, i asked him to spell his name, called each card co. , he put me on hold for a moment,  and i never said yes to the $999 charge, never even wa asked about it so i knew what was being asked of me because i would have said no, ok he put that 999 on a chase card also and the one with the highest amount of interest yet, and did send me a packet like the ones i've seen in other articles on these matters   his solution was to pay at least $5 more than the minimun required on a card to reduce the amount of time to pay it off, and to discipline myself to live without that 900 amonthe i am saving on payments, well gee the mortgage, electris ,phone  food comes and poof theher goes the 900 so big lot of good he did and yes he did put his name and supposed employee number on bottom of each page which is 9495293    also it says at the bottom     we reward for referrals.      well i call them back to tell them i do't want this   of course i get some lady  and asked her to get me someone i can talk to as Justin was in training new people and wasn't available   surprise -   not - i told them i didn't want it , i could do all this by myself, call card co. and negotiate myself, anyone can call their co. themselves for petes sake, and i keep very close tabs on things, know all the offers on my card plus rewards etc. if any do that so i do not want or need this. so i get my chase bill yesterday and there is the 999$ charge posted april 9 the day i spoke to Justin first and so the packet came the next week and i swear i have talked to him a couple yrs ago doing a bank balance transfer with chase bank, he has a very deep voice i remember well.and the man i spoke to when i called back on april 21 said his name was Michael johnson     boy these people are slick  i am  trained in bookeeping/ accounting and really should have slammed the phone in there ear but as i say    it was not a good time and that made all the difference   also justin hadanswer some questions at the end as to how satisfied i was with the service and recorded it   well   soon as i hung up i knew what had happed it sunk in and i was furious    thought i was in the clear as no one called back    yeah right .   i also got a chase card with no interest for 9 months then it would be 8.49%   yeah for how long     well i am getting on there tails but good

Same story as everyone else about the scam artists at Clear Financial in Orlando Florida.  I too feel like a fool for falling for this.  And when I first saw the name Montel Mann mentioned by someone, I really knew I had been taken to the cleaners--my cost--$995.00-- which I was lead to believe would be an "absorbed cost" in my savings that would not be charged to me.  Mr Mann even coached me to say yes when verification person asked if I understood this charge to my account, even though it would not really happen. (which it did happen faster than a blink). Attny gen offices of FL and GA(my home state) have asked me to submit complaints, which I will do. I hope everyone else taken by them will do the same...at least maybe prevent other honest and hard working people from being scammed...I know my money is probably history..talk about learning the hard way.....

I also got the same kind of call like everyone else. I was charged $1495 on my cc. I called them for a refund they said they couldn't so I told them I was going to do what I had to do but I would get the money refunded. It was a Mr. Johnson that called me and told me this when I hung up I dialed the # in my ID which was 8506486744 and a recording on that # said it was disconnected. I called my CC and explained to them and they said to disputed it and they were going to investigate it. It seems like they have all different phone #'s. The bottom # was the 1st one that called.

These people are evil.  I received a call from Clear Financial Solutions and my story is about the same as the ones I have read on this web site and many others.  CFS was going to reduce my interest rate on a major credit card.  Montel Mann at 1-888-528-4438 ext 229 (yeah like that was his real name) assured me this was not a scam, they worked with credit card companies to negotiate a lower interest rate and there were no strings attached - they were just there to help me in a bad economy.  I know anything that seems too good to be true, usually is.  But these people are really slick and convinced me to trust them.  So I fell for it. When I hung up the phone I had a gut feeling I had been scammed.  I immediately called my creditor and for my good luck, the $1495 CFS was going to charge to my credit card had been received, but not posted to my account yet so a dispute was placed on the charge if it were to occur.  I filed a fraud report with the local police department, contacted the bank that has most of my accounts and put an alert on those accounts, called Esperian Credit Reports who in turn called the other two major credit report companies and put a fraud alert on all three Credit Report companies. I cancelled all my other credit cards and got new numbers.  I also called CFS back and told them I had changed my mind and not to charge my credit card the $1495.  They assured me I would be removed from the program (that remains to be seen).  I did this all within four or five hours starting from the moment I hung up from talking to CFS the first time.  Tomorrow I will call the Attorney General's Office in Florida, and in California.  I also plan to contact BBB, the local news papers and TV stations.  These people have to be stopped.  I hope all of you who have been "taken" by these sleeze balls will be lucky enough to get your money back.  This all took place today, April 10, 2009

I received a recorded call from "Clear Financial Solutions" (888) 528-4438 stating that "this would be the last time they would call with an offer for their credit card debt reduction program - please press #1 if you would like to hear more information."  I wish I had not.  A representative made a very pleasant and logical explanation about their program.  When I asked "you can't offer this program for nothing - what do you charge for this?"  I was told $ 1,195 was a one-time fee, but I would receive credits on my next statements totaling over $ 2000. and that APR's on my cards would be cut in half or more.  After they receive their payment, a "Financial Adviser" will contact you and map out a plan to transfer balances, or open new cards with low introductory rates to transfer balances.  Services I could do myself!  When I asked about the credit coming on my next statement, she claimed that was never part of the service.  STEER CLEAR OF CLEAR FINANCIAL!

I spoke to Matthew Sanders, Jeremiah Page (who was just too salesy and markety for comfort, starting out with the weather as a conversation starter) and then a woman "from US Bank." I later called US Bank and they informed me no one will endorse anything promoting a lower APR nor do ANY credit card companies call you about doing that. I have cancelled all my cards for safe measure even though I told them I wasn't interested in the "special offer." I hope each of these people can, in full conscience, lie to good people to rip them off; they deserve to rot in hell.

Thank you everyone for your posts! I was on the phone for much too long, and of course had the red flag when they asked for my cc numbers. While on hold I logged on and found your page and read everything. When the agent got back on the line I told them (politely) that I'd like to decline so I got bounced to another agent who wanted to answer any questions I had yada yada and I told them I will be getting a new job soon that will take care of all my APRs, the next thing was quite sneaky I think: they had something "from US bank NOT from Clear financial" get on the phone with me telling me US Bank (my main credit card) uses them all the time for their customers and that it's ok.
However, I'm putting my trust in other posts and still turned it down. I tried many times to see if they were a scam, they have all the answers in the book to try and prove they are legit....I know scam companies have this down pat so I'm going to call my credit cards now and make sure everything is ok. Scary to know these companies can just pull up my records and read to me everything and still not be legit.
Thank you everyone, I hope honesty and good prevails in this world :(

I am pretty sure they have already lost their merchant account and have since reopened a new one. I am fighting with CFS over a refund they claim to have issued to me (with a confirmation number) in November. Today as they "did their research" they saw that the Merchant Account that issued the credit "is now closed. They have your money, not us, and there is nothing more we can do for you."

RUN, don't walk, as fast as you can to your credit card company and dispute the charge before the 120 day "dispute window" closes. The customer service reps at CFS KNOW they work for scam artists, but the one of the girls on the line with me today said, "I don't have to think about it, I'm just doing my job. Have you tried to get a job in today's market?"  Enough said. They have no conscience, and will tell you whatever they need to keep your money. You have to get a higher power (your bank) involved to win this because CFS has obviously been down this road many times with other unhappy customers and continue to win.

You must involve your credit card company (bank) within 120 days after the charge is made to your account.  I reported my experience to Bank of America today and learned this the hard way. My experience was identical to those described on this string.  When they called me, they claimed to be "Clear Financial Services" and after a lot of pursuasion, I finally believed the cost of the service "would pay for itself" within four months. Right.

Why did I wait so long to finally involve my credit card company? I felt embarrassed that I fell for it in the first place -- in essence, it was admitting that I was desperate enough for a lower interest rate to pay money to get it. The truth is, these people are manipulative, pursuasive and determined to slip through any crack to get what they want.

Your bank will support you if it's not too late.  They are aware of these schemes and they don't want you to be scammed.  Just tell them the amount and date of the transaction, that you have not received the service the sold you, and you want help to dispute the claim. You can give the rest of the details after you get to the right customer service person.

Good luck!!
