I received a call and it said "Restricted". I didn't answer, so they left a voice mail on my cell phone. They said I needed to call them back to make some type of arrangement or the would file this with my local court. I returned the call and I got their voice mail. They didn't say what company represented. I think it's a scam.

Got a call from these jokers about 10 minutes ago. same as everyone else has listed: pertaining to legal matter, this call is only intended to be received by yourself and you alone... call the place up and they ask me if i received a summons recently or a phone call. told the lady i wouldnt be calling the number just bc i was bored! gave them the case # they provided me in the rather fast paced muffled voicemail. theey asked me what my SSN# was and i told her she should be able to tell me since she knew my name without me giving it to her...bogus SSN#... caught in her error she then starts with, "are you not mr._____ _____ D.O.B _____?"... wrong again! told her they need to get there facts straight before they harrass me falsely accussing me of whatever b***s*** they had... lady hungup on me...have a nice day clowns.

1-866-857-3916 is one of those irritating numbers that show up on your caller ID that can never seem to be identified.   When you return the call, you get the ominous "Can I help you?" or "Case number please."  They refuse to identify who they are when questioned, will not state they are debt collectors, and by tone imply you have committed some illegal act and are in great trouble or they would not have called you.  It is a violation of FDCPA.  It took quite a bit of research and cunning to discover whom the voices were behind the lawbreaking 866 number were...but it's coming together now and they are without excuse.

Give us your stories on CRA and let's put together some useful information to bring these folks down.  Record their calls where legal and save the tapes for future use.  We'll post 'em here if you have something of interest.

In the meantime, hold them to the law; make them put everything in writing, validate the debt.  Use the cease-communication letter.

I had a message from this number - the guy talked too fast & I was not able to understand what he was saying. When I called the number he left (shows up as a private caller) I got no information what so ever. They said my name was given as a reference & they now had the info they needed. I feel if my name was used as a reference, the I should have the righ too know what it was about. They did answer the phone as CC & R associates.

My girlfriend got a call from this number last night. She called back and the woman on the phone "Mrs.Washington" no first name given, said that there was pending criminal litigation and that my girlfriend needed to give her her bank account information immediately to avoid criminal prosecution. They had her correct social security number and even a valid past due bill they were alleging that the case was based on. The woman was very very aggressive and throwing around a lot of legal jargon. When my girlfriend called them back later and told them she would pay them when they sent all proper documentation to her attorney, the woman shut right up and just said that she would do that. We'll see...I bet we never hear from them again.

that is to funny my husband just got a call from the same number and i called them back the company name is cc and r and they told me the same thing and said they were going to throw my husband in jail if he don't pay them 600.00 dollars but they won't tell us who we owe this money too it is a total scam

I have been getting calls from someone who talks too fast to get the name of the company complete.  It is Litigation ?? Associates and they claim that there are serious claims and allegations against me and too call them right away before they file something in the county I reside in.  Has anyone heard from them?
