Now claiming to be Merchant Services and are sending scam faxes from 888-781-6053.  Claims they have approved a lower rate on credit card machines.  Guy's name on this fax is Mark Fedor - I'm sure that not only will that name change next time they send a fax, but the phone and fax numbers will change as well.
Not that it will do any good but we report all these scams to the FCC and if we find the city and/or state, call the local attorney general's office.

VOD use only if you did ever had a past due debt: Construct a very tightly worded "Demand / Debt Verification VOD Letter" stating that the collection company must prove / verify the past debt conclusively or Cease & Desist all efforts and calls immediately. They must provide records from the original lender / creditors. Do not admit that it is your debt!
You must get their return address and state if your past due account has passed the statute of limitations for debt collection in your state. "It is up to you, the Collection Agency to prove that this debt is still covered by the State of _____ (your state) Statute of Limitations." If your account has been closed & written off then your Verification & Cessation VOD letter must be sent via Certified Mail to the company's official address, place of business.  If you believe they are in violation of the FRCA then type it BOLD so state it in your letter. Received numerous calls from this number. No identification, just a msg to call back. Don't bother with unidentified calls. Checked "800" site due to persistence & confirmed my guess. BTW, this is a very good site. Called the 888 number, asked who they were, what they wanted, told them they had a wrong number , and to remove my number from their call list. These callers are pests.

CBCS called our cell.  I called back 12 times in a row and got a girl named "MichaelAnn" EVERY TIME.  After I persisted calling back and just "waiting her out" since they refused to give me any information kept calling, I decided to "bother them" some and just keep calling.  After the first 12 calls I made back to them, hitting redial, I got hung up on after a bit with a "your call cannot be completed" message, for about five more calls.  Then I got a recording saying I'd reached CBCS and to choose 1 for English or 2 for Spanish, took 1 (of course) and got another recording asking for my tel # and the pound sign.  I hit zero pound.  Got a recording saying "I'm sorry you're having trouble, I'll connect you to the next available agent" and then some recording saying they're obligated by law to inform me that the call was for a debt collection and would be recorded from then on out.  Then it hung up on me.

:)  I feel pretty good that I BOTHERED THEM ENOUGH THAT THEY WON'T TAKE MY CALLS NOW!

If the person calling and claiming to be from the FBI is affiliated with a collections company, under the current laws against this kind of abuse you can SUE the ever-loving crap out of them. It comes down to people like you standing up and fighting against these unscrupulous bullies!

My sister had a hospital that we tried to pay multiple times. First we sent a check to the hospital that they sent back to us, and then we tried to pay online but we didn't get any assistance and it was complicated. So when they turned it over to the collections agency it was confusing because we were trying to pay the bill but the hospital kept returning our checks. Now the fees are outrageous, it's double the original bill. These people call early morning when we're sleeping and all times of day.

(713) 518-9848-claims to with the FBI--Kept receiving calls from some so called (888)-547-5354 number and they insisted to speak with some guy I have never heard of. I called them back and said their calling the wrong people, quit calling my cell phone. They kept calling every few days leaving messages for this person I have never heard of, so I called them back and yes I was pissed off. I told them again to quit calling my phone they have the wrong number. Of course in my own choice words.
Then I received a call from (713) 518-9848, I hung up, then they text me saying they were from the FBI, then they called 5 more times.

They are just debt collectors.  They collect for whoever pays them and say the represent that client.  When I asnwered the call, nobody responded, so I hung up and called them back. I have had the number for 7 years.   They called my cell phone trying to get the previous owner of the number.  I asked who gave them this number and it was some skip tracing company, but the lady I spoke to would not give me anymore information.  She was nice enough and said they would remove the phone number from their data base.
The problem is upstream.  Whoever hired them gave them this number.  Someone gave that organization the number.  How far can/do you have to go to get this nonsense to stop?

Keep calling for some other person even though I assured them I have had this number for over 10 years and I am not the party they are tring to reach.

I have been getting a call everyday from this number asking for different a different name each time. When I call back they will not give me any information about the company.  They just say they handle personal matters.  I ask them to take my number off their list, the caller say they will make a note.  How do I get them to stop!

This is a credit collection agency that handles collections from many sources (credit cards, medical, etc). These people buy accounts in collection status from other parties for pennies on the dollar.

They harrassed me about I debt that was not mine. They use internet searches to find people so if you have a common name like "Bob Smith" you could end up getting calls or letters from them for someone else's debt.

If your credit has no blems and you are getting harrassed by them don't worry, just send them a cease and desist letter by certified mail. Good luck!

I get 2-3 calls a day from this number. They ask for the same person everytime they call and i've told them numerous times they have the wrong number. They just wont stop. It's driving me crazy.

They have been calling me as well; however it was determined they were trying to collect on a hospital bill that wasn't even due yet.  When they claimed to have been "forwarded my file the previous week" by our local hospital, they were unable to explain how that could be possible when I offered to fax them copies of canceled checks that were clearing my bank each month.  I have been making payments to the hospital every month since the costs were incurred in February, 2008 and not only did this "Collection Company" have their information incorrect, but I still get monthly statements from the hospital showing my payments as well as my current balance (which is under $100).  The Collection Company put me on hold when I called and apologized stating they had called my local hospital and there apparently was an error wherein my payment information had been keyed in improperly thus making it appear as if I wasn't making payments.  I told the caller she was full of crap because if that were the case I would not be receiving current statements from the hospital and if the claim from her was that the hospital had keyed my payments in improperly, they would not be giving me credit.  I think there may be a scam going on here.

Shut up. Medical expenses are the NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF BANKRUPTCY in this damn country. In this economy, a medical bill is a a nightmare. If you need medical attention, YOU NEED IT, it's not optional like a flat screen TV. If you can't pay, well, then maybe they should revamp the system. Maybe the Republicans should have done that before they destroyed the economy and now have made it unaffordable to revamp the system without it getting worse for people before it gets better, very possibly.
