If you think that the comment from "harassed" seems far fetched, you are wrong. This is a true, factual post. Only difference between him/her and me - I fell for it hook, line, and sinker to the tune of $1500. Don't fall for the "you have been officially notified" scheme like me, it's all of lie. I paid the $1500, and all was quiet for a couple of weeks, then it started again. Now I am wise to the fact it's a scheme, but not without paying a very, hard, financial cost. If you think it's a scam, either go to the FTC website or call your State's Attorney Consumer Affairs Division.

I actually was given this number by a credit and collections agency called United Debt Holding that sold my debt to the company called "American Southwest" telephone # 888 566 5591.  Well when I attempted to call the 888 566 5591 it was a recording that stated that they were overwhelmed with calls and cannot answer my call it stated "Please leave your name, phone number, account number and Social Security number" they stated they would call back.  I tried 4 times within 4 different days, and always the same recording..."leave message".  I found this strange, especially for a Credit and Collections agency.  First let me tell you it all started from a small balance $50.00 owed to payday loan company called Advance America- and it was a ligit loan advance, but I was given the option to pay the $250.00 in installments.  So I did, and I thought I was completely done-when I got this phone call from a company called "Coastal Litigation Firm" this is when the nightmare started:
They called stating that I was being notified of a "complaint" against me and that the court papers were filed at the county office (they knew the county I lived in).  They said I was being served for fraud against a check I wrote for Advance America and that I could face Jail time- they also said in order for me to avoid going to court that I could pay $550.00 plus $199.00 court cost and this would get me out of possilbe facing jail time if convicted.  I immediately asked for their manager and name of company- not once was the name ever given or manager name etc.  I said I would have to look into this and they said I was just being argumentative and saying that I was not wanting to cooperate.  They talk a good ONE!!!!! Don't fall into their manipulative TRAP...it's a scam.  They try to inject FEAR....don't let them, they can't arrest you for this.  I have reported them to the Attorney Generals Office and FCC.  PLEASE REPORT THESE NUMBERS ALSO TO:  Consumers Financial Protection Bureau: consumersfinance.gov

They are a scam company. I took out a loan with American Web Loan. Paid it in full. Then this company calls, threatens to arrest me unless I pay $1600. They got me hook, line, & sinker. I paid them what they told me was owed, over the phone. They told me that they only send statements after the loan is paid in full. I was stupid enough to pay them $1400. I never got a statement, then I found out that these so called payday collection companies are scams. Don't be stupid like me. Call your States Attorney's Office. Received a phone call from Ray Bishop a few days ago wanting to "confirm" my address because he needed to serve me with papers.   I waited for him to read off my address so I could confirm it.  I was told that he didn't have the file in front of him.   Received a couple additional calls from him.  A very nasty man.  He called yesterday morning requesting I call a 800 number in order to make payment arrangements and making that call would "stop" him serving me.   He then bluntly informed me that he was taking off right now to "serve" me.  I told to go right ahead.    He called two hours later.   As soon as he asked to speak to me I informed him that legally I was obligated to tell him that I was recording this call.   Silence.  He then asked me what I was going to do about what we had talked about early.   I played along and told him that I couldn't remember.  He would not obviously threaten me while he was being recorded.   I finally "regained" my memory and said oh yea...you were going to serve me with papers....I have been waiting for you to show up.    He denied ever saying anything to that effect.    He informed me he was a busy man and wanted to know where we could meet to take care of "what we had talked about".   He finally hung up on my when I started rambing on about the weather, dogs, cats, etc.     My suggestion to everyone is to have a recorder (you can pick up one pretty cheap) and record these scammers.  Obviously, be sure to tell them that you are recording the conversation.     I am contacting the Attorney General's office with the voicemail messages he left me and the content of our phone calls.    I urge everyone to do the same.  These "vultures" feed on vulnerable people who they scare into paying non-existing bills.

Does anyone know an attorney in the PA/NJ area that takes thse cases. I can't take this anymore.  The guy called me from 856-417-0203. I answered. Same story as everyoneelse. I told him to serve me and gave him my address. Then he hung up. Then he proceeded to call me 17 times back to back. I havea picture from my phone on it. Thanks for any help!

I have been attempting to call this number, but only receive their voicemail and the will not return my phone calls.  Does this entity actually exist?  Or is it just another ripoff?  Can someone help?

Got another call today but this time from Ray Bishop!  He also called giving all sorts of info to our receptionist and even called our HR dept stating that he has charges against me!  The call over and over again!  I answered the phone and told him that what he was doing was illegal and that he needs to stop calling me at work!  I asked what firm he represented and he refused to tell me!  He got all ugly with me and started telling me he "wasn't in the mood for my condesending attitude"!  This was after I asked him what firm he represented!  He just didn't want to give the information up.  I told him I was contacting the authorities to file charges against them!  He said he would be at my job in 30 minutes to present me with charges...this was about an hour ago!  I told him I would see him then!  This is so ridiculous!  This needs to stop...isn't there anyone who can keep them from doing this to people?

Please please keep us informed.  I too had received a call from a man who stated he had 15 minutes to meet me so that he could serve me papers.  I was like, uhm, I am not running out the door to meet any strange man (unless of course its Bradley Cooper), j/k.... anyhow, he called my employer and stated he was on the premises to serve me papers (I am a contract employee and they are located in CA, and I am in Texas).  This man also called my mother in Arkansas from a Little Rock phone number, and then finally called my cell phone from a Texas number.  This too was originated from a very old loan from Multisource.  When I called them and asked what was going on, she told me that Progressive was a scam and to just forget about it.  I then called Progressive back and told the girl that I spoke with Camille at MultiLoan Source who said to forget about Progressive.  Long story short, they are driving me absolutely crazy and its embarrasing when the company that I contract for calls me and is like "uhm, whats going on".  From my understanding, if in fact I did have a judgement against me, wouldnt they have filed that with my local courthouse first?

Received 5 calls from a man named Alex summers. Claiming he was a locator for nationwide. Called me from 856-417-0203. Cell phone.  He claimed he was confirm my address and has papers to serve me with and charges to give to. Very disrespectful n ignorant. Leaving messages at my home n job. Called the co. Nationwide wouldn't given me no info or mail me anything. Filed charges with FTC n will be filing complaint local police.

Yes, I did see that. That is why  I called them back to verify the address and said " It is suit A correct?" They so kindly said " No, it is suite B." lmao I don't think they were suppose to do that!

 Did you notice when you looked up the address that it has several differant biz names at that location. I looked them up at that one also. They use so many addresses to confuse people hopeing not to be tracked down.

Well, it took a little work but, I have located them and sent all the info off to my lawyer. Thank God I was a PI for 7 years. Here is what I found.

Who intern sent it to nationwide.

Here is the funny part. I went through all of my bank statments and found no such loan.

I have now recieved 2 new numbers for them. 888-530-4341 and 855-204-7722. The 888-566-5591 is now disconected. ufffff this is driving me nutts!! I can not find an address to serve them.

Its Nationwide Mediation Firm out of California. Lol they claim not to be a collection agency but a law firm collecting money. They claim not to have to follow the collection rules. Say they can get away with whatever they want to tell you. Full of BS

I have looked up this address and it is for a chamber of commerce. They may have moved but, this is not the correct address for them.

I have also received calls from nationwide and the people who state they are locators.. Not only did they leave a message on my phone stating that I was going to be brought up on charges but they also left a message on my sister's cell phone as well.. I now have a lawyer.. The only problem I am having is trying to locate them and finding what collection agency they are with. There are a lot of collection agency's that have the word nationwide in their name. I have tried to skip trace their numbers with no luck.

FYI: Don't worry about them saying they will come after you. It will cost any where from 700 to 1500 to file a claim. If you are not in the thousands, I doubt they would pay more to sue then they would to try to collect the debt.

I keep getting calls from these people saying that they are going to arrest me and serve me papers because i owe them money.  My pocket book was stolen from me last year and I had important documents in it which could be how these people got my information or when I applied for a major credit card.  However, we are going to trace where their numbers came from and takes steps to have these people arrested.My husband is the Assistant District Attorney and will find them.  Nationwide staff. at 1888-566-5591

Call  your local county courthouse. Ask the court clerk if you have a lawsuit pending against you. To be served papers the collection agency must first file a suit against you in court and pay the fee. The court will show if there is any pending suits.
This company is a ripoff. If you have casenet for your state courts go on there and look up your name and see if there is a case.
I would file a complaint with the AG office, the BBB, and the FTC against them.
If they leave a voice mail safe it and write down the times and days that they call

Ive been getting the same harrassing people call me fo rthe past week.. saying I owe them money and giving me this numner 888-566-591 and a claim # ! They've called my employer several times and wont stop harrassing me. I've since told them today that I have contacted my attorney and go ahead and serve me!  they are rude and nasty and need to be stopped.

I agree with you Jw.  These people are scam artist.  Even if you owe you dont call people threatening to lock them up.  i know my rights and thats against the law.  I know too many attorneys and paralegals who say what they are doing is phone slamming.  Figuring if they scare u enough you will give up the money.

He just called me "FRANK COOK" less than 20 mins ago claiming he was just on his way to serve me with papers at my house.  I told him to give me his number and i will have an attorney who i know call him back.  Not without a release he won't which hit a button in my house.  I than called the number he gave and it was Nationwide.  No description of what do just a debt collector.  I was upset.  i just added him to blocked numbers not f=========up my holiday.  When are they going to stop selling our information to these scam artist Im tired of the crapt.  856-417-0203 and 888-566-5591. nUmber they called me from.  dont be scammed.  I have been before.
