I got the same voicemail as annoyed. These guys are slick.  I got taken a couple of months ago.  They used a fake caller id for the County Courts in my area stating that a judgment against me for 3000.  He stated that he was a court clerk.  I made a payment and then contacted the county court clerk and there was no judgment against me.  These people need to be arrested because using a government phone number as a fake caller id and posing as a government employee.  These are federal offenses.

just received computerized voicemail that said "You have been listed as a person of interest. Please call 888-572-3986 and refer to case #" ------

Has to be a scam. They can't even bother to use real voices. It was a female computer voice.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Debt Collector
I received a call today from this number and spoke to a person by the name of Amanda Gonzales.  She stated I was being sued for a payday  loan from 2011, and when they tried to take the funds out of my account, it was insufficient funds.  I do not have ANY pay day loans.  I am now waiting to see if they will fax the information that shows I owe money.  She had to ask for me for my phone number because I received the information third party from my mother!!!

I know this is a scam but HOW DO WE STOP it?

I got a message from a Lisa McDonald stating she had court documents and that I had to call her back right away. She also was giving information to other coworkers. The number she gave me to call was for southerndistrictcpc at 1-888-572-3986 which led to a Florida business. However the number she called me from registered as from Washington State. I have gotten some calls like this in the past. Anytime I ask for documentation I get told off and told that they don't need to send me anything. In my dealings I have found these to be scams and scare tactics to try to get money. I will not deal with anybody until I receive written verification through the mail. Be careful in dealing with situations like theses and familiarize yourself with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

Was very official and described my assets as a car that I drive and the tag number.. They cannot touch your car. They cannot have you arrested for a debt. They cannot take your car. All information was public. My last 4 of my ssn was incorrect. And they spoofed the number of the county that I live in and the commisioner was sent an email with the number that was used. A fax number. Fear not this has become entertainment for me.  cheap fun.

It's a scam, payday loans, run by a criminal ring in India.
You CANNOT be arrested for debt. Debt is a CIVIL matter, not  a CRIMINAL matter.
No "charges" are being filed, it's a scare tactic.
Go to ftc.gov and read the FDCPA and learn your rights.

I got a call from this number.  They say they are from the filing division from my county.  At no time do they give the name of the company.  I also talked to a person and they never mentioned the company name only that they need to set a payment plan to avoid charges being filed against me.  I told this person to mail me something with the company information and she said they could not do this.  Be careful, admit to nothing with them.
