I AM NOT TO SURE THAT WINDSTREAM IS ACTUALLY SELLING THEIR CUSTOMERS LISTS TO
TELEMARKETERS.

I CALLED WINDSTREAM TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NON-STOP TELEMARKETERS AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.

I HAVE COMCAST IN MY OTHER HOME AND THEY GAVE ME A CODE AND IT STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

I looked this up on line and it said it stands for Serving Various Charities. Once I answered and it was for
a Charity and they wanted to come to my house and pick up my donation. I reported it but I get the same calls all day long I am sick of it. I just turn the ringer off never answer but they don't stop.

This sounds like a a good way for Windstream to put itself out of business, instead of serving customers, harrasing them. Anyone agree?

These people clam to be from Steller Collections and they said that they were representing WindStream and wanted my wife to provide a credit card to pay a $22.16 past due amount from January 2012. I found that extremely fishy since I have been on a Direct electronic pay/transfer with Windstream for over a year.

I called Windstream  in GA. and they went over all my Past and Present accounts and said We were 100% up-to-date. I asked if Steller was a Windstream Collection Agency and she did not know por would not tell me.

Other numbers that have called claiming the same thing with windstream are: 866-212-7408 and 888-838-5123.

This is rediculous, and WINDSTREAM should be interested in finding out who is doing this using their name!!!

I called this number a couple of minutes ago. There was a very poor connection when their 'machine' answered: a very, very, scratchy, intermitten-type of connection. A woman came on, stating that she was with Windstream. They are providing an up-grade to my internet connection for x dollars/month. This woman must work for Windstream as she did indeed know the present speed of my Internet connection, etc. "For only....per month, we can up grade your connection...." I told her that, if Windstream would give it to me for free, I'd accept the higher speed. I asked that she put my name on their Do Not Call list and she said she would, that it might take up to 30 days and that she apologized should anyone else call before then!

I think it's a genuine Windstream call--but still a nuisance.

I got a call from them, and I don't answer if I don't know the party.  I just put them on block.  I have Windstream as a carrier.  In my phone book, you just hit ^60 and it adds to your blocked list.  Check the front of your phone book to see if your company has the same set up.

I was getting telemarketing messages from Windstream on a daily basis.  Each time, I told them that I was not interested in upgrading any services.  I asked them to stop the calls and they told me that I would have to call customer service in order to stop the calls.  I called customer service and was told that the calls would stop.  When I received my next phone bill, there was a $5 service change fee on it.  I called customer service and asked them why I was charged $5 to stop the telemarketers.  They told me that the charge was for a service change.  I told them that I did not change my service and asked them to take the charge off my bill.  The customer service rep. told me that he could not do that.  I asked him to have a supervisor call me.  I never heard from a supervisor.  Windstream has probably lost a lot of landline customers and it is puzzling to me why they would risk losing another.  If they do not take the $5 charge off my bill, I am going to cancel my service with them.

No, they won't listen or do what you tell them-to them, it shows that they are getting to you so they see that as a success. They might also be compiling a list of numbers that are answered when dialed, and selling them to other telemarketers as active numbers.

Your best bet is to get a call-blocker. See my post on whocallsme under 3059182338 for more information.

Not trying to sell anything.  For those interested there is a company called Globalnix who has a little white box called Personnal Communicator.  Buy one, hook it up and block all unwanted calls.
Saves a lot of time and stops the junk calls.

My mother had trouble with calls from this number so when I had trouble with my Windstream service I also asked about calls from this number.  The Windstream rep said this was not one of theirs and that it is listed as Rogers Cable Company.

This number probably is regarding Windstream.  Most large companies have some departments that do this type of calling and the rest is outsourced to probably a Telemarketing firm that meets the needs and requirements of Windstream.  And since the privacy laws prevent these people from having any information about you other than name and telephone number, hence no reason to know exactly what you pay as it does vary depending on where in the USA that you live due to the taxes and occupation taxes etc.  They are probably trying to follow up on those people that signed up approx. two years ago for the $49.99 a month service of unlimited free long distance and the DSL internet package.  My understanding is this program is going to cease pretty soon, so would have to do a different bundle to get the cheap rate for lifetime.  So if you cannot have Dish TV where you live either due to landlord restrictions such as apt complex or area where you live with no Dish reception, then would have to go up higher on the speed of the DSL say from 3 megabytes per second to say 6 or 12 in order to keep the free long distance.  And most people are either at the two year contract renewing stage or coming up in the next month or two.  But lifetime does not mean lifetime, if you were to leave a Windstream area then you are not held to this contract.  But beware if you are in a lifetime deal with Windstream, local business office will tell you it was a verbal contract so if you do not wish to keep the DSL you can drop it with no additional charges, and if you drop landline it will cost the $24.99 disconnect fee.  But you must call the DSL help number and there if you are not at the end of the 2 year original $49.99/month contract it is $100 disconnect fee for the DSL and the $24.99 for the landline.  They are very cagy in how they do business.  But I have done customer service before and also called for telephone directory to see if people received the new phone book in order for the delivery person to get his pay check for the route and this is what I found out.  That a lot of times it is outsourced.  My local Windstream office used to have a dept that called people offering them better deals (???) but due to budget cuts those people were let go.  But if you were to get a phone call and then check with local office they would know nothing about it, so guessing this telephone number means another outsourcing.  Though who knows you might get a good deal.  And yes Windstream does from time to time offer a computer and it is a complete computer (entire desktop set-up and last time a laptop) and you make monthly payments usually up to 14 to 24 months and then it belongs to you, but believe me you will have paid for it.I for one am not happy with my service.  Lucky if it works some days and then other days so slow cannot upload or download anything and will take 3 to 4 days to get  an email and then some days if it is rainy or has rained can't open aol emails at all.  They tell me to get wiring fixed but when I mention I live in a 190 apt complex oh then call the DSL line explain it and it is free for a tech to come out to fix the problem and probably in the connection outside bldg.  Yeah right.  I was told by a friend who works for a cable company in a different city that it depends on where you live from the hub and if you are 20 miles or so it won't be good service and also it depends how many people are on too how good your service is.  But this is most likely a call generated by Windstream but outsourced to a different company, hence no valid phone number when you try finding it in reverse directory.  But before one decides yes or no if they are interested call your local telephone company to see if this offer stands with their company and then set up a call back time for them to call you.  that is what I did two years ago so I could check to see if it was legit.  It was through an outsource company.  And I cannot afford to go with our cable company for both telephone and internet service as it would cost almost $200 a month so unfortunately I am stuck in a rut.

I keep getting the same calls! I did the redial once and a woman answered. She answered as Credit Card Services how may I direct your call? When I told her the story she told me that their company would never call a customer that they were just a contractor that dealt strictly with the bank and I should contact mine. I did and the calls stopped for a few weeks. Saturday I got another one, this time I got to the phone and when I hit 1 to talk to a representative. I got a fast talking pushy salesman trying to lower my credit card payments. I had to have at least 4500 dollars in card dept. I told him I wasn't interested he said why not I wouldn't be giving him any information the bank hadn't already given. My response was that must not be the case since I only have one card and it is inactive, is way below 4500, and I am working too pay it off. At that point he got frustrated, said he would take my name off the list and hung up. I just got another call only today it was from 877-544-2087.

Good Luck, ds

BEWARE!!  This is most likely NOT Windstream!!  My mother is a senior.  She rec'd this same call.  I had advised her not to do ANY business over the phone and give me a call anytime someone tried to solicit her via the phone.  She called me today.  The guy was slick.  He told her that he was with her local phone company (He didn't say which company, just a vague statement).  He wanted to sell her internet service, phone service, and a computer.  He was going to include a modem, screen, and keyboard...well, how do you use a computer without the pc?????  I'm pretty sure you don't!!  Almost convinced her to bite.  Instead she got a call back number.  He said he was Wade and was only available for a few hour time frame.  He also wanted personal information like...who do you call...where are they located...how many calls do you make a month...who are they too...are they local?? or distant numbers... Way tooo many questions.  If he was with Windstream, which is her local carrier then he would have already known that she has her long distance service through windstream and doesn't subscribe to the internet services.  This is a scam!  I tried to call Mr. Wade at the call back number of 888-586-6706 but was unable to reach anyone or any message machine.  This is not a business practice.  I was planning on letting Mr. Wade know to back away from MY mother and loose her number or I would have him turned over to the proper authorities quicker than he could say.."I'm Sorry!"  Do NOT let your family members get caught up in the sly of these folks!! I will protect mine!
