Att adsolutions trying to get your business. They are feeling the pinch on their print advertising.

Even though AT&T is a large telecommunications company it has lost it's ability to ever be the biggest online marketing provider. It will never aquire the likes of google or come anywhere close to the amount of "eyeball" that the largest search engine in the world can provide to local or national clients alike.

That was all very accurate except we most definetly call random business. I will contact any business i think may benefit from our advertising products.. i will agree att is laging behind in its internet relevance and we are $$, but at&t is very consistant in its business practices, they either are the biggest or will buy or pay its way to become the biggest... in marketing terms it is usually wise to go with the biggest, they usually have the most eyeballs.

It's not a scam in the sense that they do provide a service. Just not a very good one. It is AT&T advertising solutions but AT&T is pretty much irrelevant in today's marketing scheme. yp.com does not provide the kind of search traffic that they will try to sell you on. I mean come on its an online directory not google. While it may get allot of hits they are mostly just redirected not very focused hits through google searches. They will make you sign a 12 month or more contract because they know after a couple of months when you are spending a ton of money with no return you can't cancel it and they have you on the hook for the remainder of the contract regardless of results. Most of the "affordable" programs they offer will get you zero to little return since your page placement is very poor. The extended distribution network they speak of is little more than claiming your free listings on other search directories mostly unrelated to your industry or business. There "search engine marketing" campaigns are also not a good value in the fact that they are just recycled google ad words campaigns. Most of the traffic they direct to your website (%90) or better does not come from google, yahoo, or bing, but from second tier search engines. So %99 of your "clicks" as they refer to them are irrelevant and a waste of traffic. Further more once your "click" count has expired for the month which usually doesn't take long since the programs are so expensive for relatively little traffic your "sponsored ads" will be taken down for the remainder of the month. I'm not saying that there is no value at all but make sure you are seeing the programs for what they really are, ask for the plan details in writing since these reps will be as vague as possible when explaining them to you. Further more everybody who recieves a call from AT&T advertising solutions is either a current customer of AT&T, or requested a free listing on yp.com, they do not cold call random businesses.

It's the outbound telemarketing department for AT&T Advertising Solutions.
If you get a "free listing" on YP.com, they'll call you to upsell you to a featured listing on YP.com and sell you AT&T Real Yellow Pages for your business. They'll also call you if you currently have advertising on YP.com to sell you more; or, if you advertise in the AT&T Real Yellow Pages, to advertise on YP.com as well. They will also call you if you recently set up or added a business line to get you into the yellow pages and/or YP.com.
WANNA HAVE SOME FUN with these folks? ANSWER THE CALL, pretend to be interested, ask them lots of questions about what they are selling, continue to feign interest, tell them that your budget is about $600 month and that you'd like to to split that about half and half between print marketing and internet marketing.
If the number you got your free listing for is a land-line, at the end of the call, give them a cell phone number that you want advertised. When they realize that it is a cell phone, they'll ask you for a two month deposit. When they tell you, say "TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! OH MY GOD, THAT'S A FORTUNE, I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH MONEY LAYING AROUND" Then tell them sorry..... and hang up. You'll have wasted a good amount of their time and deflated them a bit for the next sorry soul that is subjected to their harrassment.

Junk call. Outside source trying to sell AT & T Yellow pages info.

They called saying they wanted to veriy a listing on YP.com. I told her I had already spoken to someone and wasn't interested in buying any marketing packages at this time. She continued to say she was not a marketer and was only calling to check new listings on the site. She then proceeded to ask me marketing questions which I had already answered from someone else, who was selling me search engine positioning. I told her I was not interested in purchasing packages. She then raised her voice and said, "Look, you came to MY site!" I told her that if she worked for ATT it wouldn't be her site. I think maybe it was a false caller trying to get information for ID theft. I am trying to file a complaint. I know the exact date and time of the call. Don't answer this number!

Received a call from someone selling advertising upgrades. When I wouldn't agree to an increase in what we are already spending for ATT Yellow Pages and online advertising, the manager came on the line and got very aggressive and insulting (telling me it IS the 21st century, after all). ATT will be hearing from me, in more ways than one.

Just called my cell: It was At&T, but I don't have any of their services. It's possible that it was a business call since my cell is listed as business and public record.
