You might wanna call the company you owe the debt and ask them who they sold your acct to and follow the paper trail. Don't assume their scammers just cause you dont be responsible and pay your debts. They might use b***s*** tactics but that doesn't mean their not legit. Think before you do something stupid causing you to pay more money..

same thing happened to me. Exact scenario. I am waiting also to see what happens with this. SOL does not start over unless they get a payment, even if only 5.00, so dont send anything!!!!!

The same thing happened to me and scared me half to death. First call from lady saying she wanted to know if I would be home to receive my summons and gave me the 888 # and a file # . I called right away thinking I would see what this was about and I was told to come up with $1000.00 on my debt by the end of the day (although very pleasantly) and just give my debit card # so they can take it out whatever date they tell me..I found this site while googling the # and think I will just wait and see what happens with the SUMMONS. I don't think you can start the sol up again unless you make a payment to them...

SOL states from the last date of activity with the original creditor. Each state is different, Texas has a 4 year SOL.

they called threating they were serving me for court. shared the hell out of me.

They called my place of work. My boss answered (embarrassing). I have not called this number and I don't intend to. What are the laws of them harassing you at work? The caller told my boss I was being summoned to court and need to contact this same number with a case number. According to privacy laws in regards to debt collections and collection processing, the caller cannot tell anyone besides the debtor what is the nature of the call other than it is personal business. The cannot give specifics or even say things like "this is in regards to a court summons.

I meant I concur with xman.
| Jack 2011-05-23 23:26:21 Unknown |
I concur with Laura on the SOL. Do not call back. It will only start the SOL (Statute of limitations) from start. If it is a debt, they have 2 years to collect.

person said she was Kelly Smith but the company she's with was garbled and she said she is looking for me and is a process server but would put things on hold if I contacted this number asap and that this is time sensitive and gave me a case number too. Oh and when this call came through it said private caller 3 times in a row, and then unknown caller that last time around 5;30pm and no message was left till that last call either.I didn't answer any of these cals as I rfuse to do so if I do not know who it is calling. I get o fed up with bogus calls I just let the answering machine pick it up. Then I also have proof of the harrassing calls on my caller ID as well as the answering machine. What galls me most of all though is that my phone company seems to think it is okay to allow these types of calls at their customers meanwhile wanting all kinds of money from us to pay for their friggin services.
| xman 2011-04-30 18:21:30 Unknown |
Pretty sure it is a junk debt collector. They try to scare you by saying that there is a complaint or summons against you and you need to call this number. When you do, it re-starts the SOL clock on the debt. My advice, DO NOT CALL THEM.
