Same for me.... I agree this should be reported to someone, but Who.  I have been unemployed for almost 2 years, I really don't need this type of additional stress and aggravation.  I hope someone can figure out who these people are and get this shut down.

3/31/12:  I received the same message as the other people.  I have not called but sent a text back that I would call them in an hour (this gave me time to look this number up).  I applied for a Medical Transcriptionist position on several job sites including Career Builder, Monster Jobs, etc.  Who should we report this to?  This is totally unfair to all of us unfortunate unemployed people in the US trying to find a job and not sit around scamming others and trying to take advantage of our hard times.  The government should get involved immediately.,

This is bogus crap. Its sad that these people have nothing better to do. I am busting my "A**" everyday looking for a job and then you have these morans doing this. Perhaps they are on the welfare system, receiving free phone service and maybe consider this a job. Hope someone can find out who this scumbag is.

I received the same call, and he told me I would receive the rest of the application tomorrow. Somehow I knew it was too good to be true.  I think I will stay with the temp company I signed up with last week.

So apparently these jerks sell your email address because I'm now being buried in scam offers, emergency payday loan offers, Viagra offers, Orchard Bank offers, bogus Microsoft mail notices, bogus loan offer notices, yada yada yada. I'm talking CONSTANT crap, burying my inbox.

I'm now facing the real possibility of having to cancel my email address -- an address I've had since 1998. This entire thing has been unbelievable. There aren't enough expletives to describe how I feel about these jerks.

Same as all the others. Applied for job, got dumb text message with app tree and it asks to call about the position I applied for. Don't waste your time.

Like so many people, I'm desperate for a job. So I called them back and talked with "Melissa" -- who said that she needed up to 30 minutes to go through my application for this position. I said fine (in reality, the call took maybe 3 minutes). She asked me a bunch of questions, including why I thought I was qualified for the job, why I wanted the job, what I see myself doing 4 years from now, how long I've been unemployed, what's my highest level of schooling (when I said an incomplete MBA, she pressed me about finishing it SOON), what salary I'm looking for, and so on. She then said I'd receive an email tomorrow, directing me to a website to "take the next step in the application process." She asked me if I would like to see about qualifying for a government program that gives free cell phones and minutes to the unemployed and I said no. Then she wanted to know if I'd participate in a survey and share my views about unemployment. I said okay, so she emailed me the link. When I clicked on it (yes, I'm apparently a DUMBASS), it offered a free $500 check if I qualified. I took one look at the additional information the form was asking for and shut the link down.

Being unemployed in this economy sucks plenty on its own -- do companies REALLY have to come along and scam those of us who are desperately watching every single penny? And what about the jerks who make the calls? Don't they have the slightest conscience about what they're doing?

I too got a text from these people just a few minutes ago. I knew it was a scam when the infamous employer sent a text msg about a job which is totally un-professional on so many levels. I applied for a customer service job through career builder thinking it was legit turns out there a bogus site just like monster ,indeed simply hired and craigslist. These websites should be taken off the web.

Me Too! I applied for a job through Career Builder, it is also listed on the Michigan talent bank, and AppTree text messages keep coming through. I think it's time to report this job app to them. It's a scam, I called the number and he asked me for my phone number to confirm some information on my an application that I filled out on ApplicantTree, I asked him what the name of the company was that I applied for and he rattled off some crap as to why he couldn't give me the name of the company then told me to check out there website at SoftRock.org to find out more information then call back later if I felt comfortable. Needless to say the website had nothing to do with getting a job.

Received the app and called - it is a sales call.  It is a shame that these people are preying on people trying to find a job.  Like the unemployed have time to deal with sales calls!

I do not know who it is. The text message says, AppTree.  I applied for a job last night and emailed my resume and it is from that.  I would guess it is a job recruiter / labor force company.
