Left an urgent message to call back about 4 delinquent accounts that were 4 months past due and in collection. She probed me for my card number, mother's maiden name and last four of my SSN. I gave her nothing. Seems like a fraud to me.

I'm not sure if this is real or a scam. The company called me from this number as well as 888-293-5321 asking me to call back. When I call back, the first number was a recording asking me to enter my account number. Obviously not a good idea, but the second time I called back a live operator picked up. She told me there were a bunch of overdue credit cards with $50k+ balances and referenced my name but confirmed the state was incorrect. Sounded shady so I called Chase and after being transferred 8 times (seriously. I don't own a card with Chase but will NEVER F****NG EVER open an account with them after such s****y customer service) talked to someone in fraud services who gave me the same last 4 digits from the overdue card as the woman I spoke with from these "fraud" callers. So either Chase has something to do with this or these people got ahold of information and are trying to scam people.

i get calls from this number more than 5 times a day! Basically one BIG rule is these companies are NOT allowed to make contact with debtor more than once a day. these ppl are defintely not Chase. they dont even leave a message to call back to. I answered the phone once and they gave me a load of crap trying to scare me to give them info and i told them that I had no account with Chase and then i told them that I was going to report them and they hung up immediately. i am sick and tired of this, i just want it to stop!

I agree - some people may have been a situtaion they thought they could pay for the credit cards but fell upon bad times - These people from this number are ruthless and rude. I tried to work with the but "too bad" is what I was told. Banrupcty and they get nothing! No mercy when THEY raised they rate causing a none ending battle with over limit fees/late payment because you can';t pay the large amount they wnat and they tell you "too bad"!

Received numerous calls from this number, but decided to answer.  The guy named Ryan was just fishing for information.  I did not give him any info, called Chase and spoke extensively with their fraud department.  Also checked my credit report to verify that there was no past due account.  Yes, the guy asked for SSN, address, etc.  I could tell from the guy's poor demeanor and phone etiquette that he was not from Chase.  These days customer service is #1 and most everyone I speak with who represents a bank or other financial institution is generally very professional.  Yes, I think mojo (read below) works for this company because this is definitely a scam!  I also called Chase and they confirmed that this phone number was not from their collection department.

I receive several phone calls from this number a day. I answered it only once and the representative told me I could save a lot of money by switching my credit cards and also was trying to make me verify my personal information. I told him that I do not have any credit cards nor any bank accounts. I personally believe this is a Phishing scam. They call on average 6 times a day, and it's to the point that I don't even have my ringer on. I've told them to stop calling to no avail. They call with different phone numbers but always leave a message with # 888-638-4956.
Has also called from: 847-488-6050, 847-488-6051, & 847-488-6100.

I called Chase directly and they do not verify if numbers are correct or not. They said they have too many telephone numbers to verify such information.

I feel the phone message that was left is unprofessional and most likely not real.

Also, if peoples only argument that this number is factual is "well, when you call they say Chase" - If I provide you with an 800 # to contact me at, and I answer Chase are you going to give me your credit card number too? It's not that hard to get an 800 #.

Thank you. I am annoyed seeing people claiming this number is right. No one will ever as the first question say "What is your credit card number".

Always refer to the number on the back of your card, and if you don't have that handy refer to the official website for the correct 800 number.

They are trying to use scare tactics on me, telling me I am running out of time.

I get this number starting at 8:10, another at 8:13, then 9:22 and 10:27 and so on and so on.  They leave a message looking for a Daniel Britt(SPL?).  Interesting that my name in Brandon M****n and my voicemail confirms that along with my caller id.  What we all need to do is call them over and over throughout the day.

Multiple calls daily for over a week from 847-488-6050, 847-488-6051, 847-488-6100 and today from this number -- all claiming to be "Card Services" attempting to collect past due amounts, requesting account and social security numbers.  Calls originate from Elgin, Illinois.  Go on Illinois Attorney General website and file consumer complaint to prevent them from stealing identities of people who are tricked.

This is a follow-up to my earlier posting. I feel it is important enough to pass along.

I called my credit card company; the REAL one. It turns out I actually am behind in four months' payments. I had been set up to receive online billing from them. But I have not received ANY communication from my credit card company in months. I was in the process of paying it off, and probably thought I was finished. The woman at the real company told me no one had been calling me to collect. (This may have been because I had been making extremely large payments to achieve pay-off.)

What I think happened is that the fraudulent organization at 888-638-4956 INTERCEPTED my electronic billing, allowing me to incur numerous late charges, etc. If I had fallen for their fake call, I would have paid the outstanding amount to the crooks and still owed my actual creditor.

I just received a call from a woman who sounded African-American (perhaps the same woman described below), saying her name was Kim Jones from Chase credit card services.  I told her I didn't know of any such card, and she gave me a song and dance about how various cards have bought and sold each other and changed names, etc.  She told me my account was four months' past due by some $400 or so and I should take care of it right now.  She reported to me that I had made several payments in recent months, naming all kinds of dollar amounts, but then made no payments.  I asked if she had the check numbers for those payments and she said she didn't have any of that info.  I told her that there was no way I could be sure of who she was without a statement in front of me, so I asked that they mail me a statement.  She said she would do that, but that it may not be a current one; that if she can only find one for July (this is August; almost September), then that would be the one she would send.  I said "fine."  She confirmed my middle initial and my street address, but I gave no credit card information.

You all can do the math, but I am 100% certain this is a SCAM.  Be very careful of these greedy, lying people!

Keep in a phone call from saying that it's important to call them back. It an emergency. They are a Chase collection agency that works with a foreign company.

I told them that I'm recording the phone call and they hanged up on me.

This is some foreign-based scam trying to get you to give them your credit card number and/or SSN.  It is NOT Chase collections or associated with a US bank. I do not have an account with Chase and they were trying to convince me that I must have an account with them and wanted all kinds of confidential information.  They said they couldn't pull up my profile unless they had my SSN etc.  Obviously a collection department would have access to this information if they are calling you in the first place. The person (mojo jojo) that said this is chase collections probably works for them and is posting around several places on the web trying to convince people that this is chase collections. (Even tried to guilt trip people about not calling!) Do not call back, if you think you need to call chase back use their real phone number:

Yup, it is Chase Collect...you don't happen to work for them do you mojo jojo?

You are right, one shouldn't charge if one can't pay. But what if they hike your interest rate to 30% for no reason - don't give me that FICO crap either and you tell them to take a hike till they restore a reasonable rate...

This a FRAUDULENT phone #. Do not call them and give them your credit card #. Your credit company will never call you and ask for your credit card # (they already know it). If in doubt, call the phone number that is printed on your credit card and confirm with them that your account is okay and give them this fake phone # so they can assure you that nothing is wrong with your account.

this phone number is from JP Morgan Chase Collection Department. So, if you get a call from them, it is really urgent because your account with them is past due, and they are trying to resolve this issue with you so that you won't get a worse headache by dealing with third-party collection agencies or attorneys. It is better to resolve your past-due accounts with them rather than deal with thrid parties that will not even try to give you any payment options.  If you account is closed, then it is because your account is SEVERELY past due and you need to make a payment arrangement ASAP! do you part, if you can't pay, DOn't use your credit cards, plain and simple :)

I keep getting calls from some guy.. sounding more and more urgent... over a period of a few weeks. I have all the voicemails saved if someone wants to hear them. ...

Open as late at 10pm to speak about important financial matters? And anyone can assist me. Sounds real shady.

I talked to a girl who sounded black, so not the Eastern European someone else got, but she said it's possible my phone number got caught up with another name.. still seems shady, I've had this number for five years. Go figure. Don't give them any information, point them to this website if they have questions.

Was in regard to supposed late payment on a closed Chase account. Wanted me to update it now and pay off the balance.

Sounded Eastern European. Said would send me account statement. Polite but sounded like reading from script.

Not believable to me. Really wanted my money. Would not do
