Just noticed that same call on my answer machine from few days ago.  First thought that come to my mind is "this is funny".  They actually called 3 times with the same message.  For God sake, if issue is so serious, at least get someone with lighter accent so I can understand the issue.  I hope someone from the gov track down this number and stop this scam.

Fake IRS

Heavy foreign accent.  Irritated with any questions to verify authenticity.

Obviously a scam. Called claiming someone was filing a suit against me. Could barely understand them. May have said IRS but unsure.

Got a message to call back ASAP. Reading these posts, I will just erase the message.

I got the same phone call too.  She claimed that IRS will sue me because my tax return has a fraud.  I told her I know she is a fraud.  Before I could continue, she hanged up.  I was anger and felt being intimidated.

I got a called from this number also at my home and I called them using my cell phone to find out what is the issue coz they left a message with someone at my home.

They said I have to give them my attorney's name and they said I got a fraud case with IRS and that someone from IRS was send to my house to deliver the paperworks but no one was at home to signed for him. They are very rude when I said I will have my attorney call them to find out. They said a Sheriff will be coming to my house in 45 mins.

Yes, call from same lady and claimed IRS. Just be careful.

Got call from this number 888-640-1453. The lady claimed from IRS. Its IRS scammer. Fake.

Got a call at home in the afternoon, caller with heavy Indian accent asked for my husband, who has a Asian surname.  Asked him who was calling, and he said (heavily accented) "IRS".  I said "Really???? You are calling from the IRS in Washington, DC?"  He said "Yes"  I said, "With an 888 area code?  REALLY?"
He hesitated.  I said  "I work for a tax attorney and I am going to forward this call to the Atty General in NJ."  He hung up.  SCAMMER preying on people, especially minorities.  BOGUS!  

I received the same call, same heavy accent. I am a tax preparer and know the IRS does
not make those type of calls.

I got this call at home as well, claiming that my tax return was a fraud and they will put a case into court and will freeze all our accounts/credit cards/passports/house/cars etc if I don't settle with them, and I need to make the decision right then.  It has been a very intimidating experience, but I told them go ahead to do what you need to do.

Then, I called IRS to double check, of course it is a spam.  My account with IRS is very clear.

So please be aware of this, and don't get into their trap even though it could be very intimidating!

that this is a scam ... so please beware ... i hope other will report this scam too ...

Extremely heavy accent. Says from IRS, settle before going to federal courthouse. Can`t get thru from cell. Lady rude when I called, said she wasn't my caseworker to call back. Don't know what this is, does anyone?

got called twice. on one call Called ID displayed 800 Services.

Called and presented as IRS. Requested to make payment in cash to close case.

Caller had very heavy foreign accent and claimed to be IRS but not expecting any call from IRS and they do not hire callers so hard to understand
