I  just received a call  ccr and associates  stating that I have charges being brought against me from a  returned check for a loan from 2006. I  don't any returned checks.  They  called me from an unknown number and asked me to call (855)878-1734. I  asked them for their address and they gave me 2806 Union Rd. Ste. 155, Cheektowaga, NY 14225.  Please beware of these people and don't give them any of your info.  Even if they verify your info correctly,  tell them that it is not correct...

WOW! I recieved the same call and name and information....I call the number back but while i was on the phone, i was on google and this is what i see. Have to be a scam.

I received a call from an unknown number. The person on the line told me that I was in the process of being served. I told her ok, I would look up the information when I go to the courthouse tomorrow. I am a paralegal student and I love to research cases, so it was no biggie. I was given a "case number" and a telephone number to call back. I waited about five minutes and called back. I found out the name of the creditor alleging that I owe them money and the amount. Guess what! I threw some dynamite in their face. I filed bankruptcy in 2011 and that creditor was included in it. So of course she "looked up my bankruptcy file" and told me to disregard any further calls.  These people are paid to read scripts. Most of them don't know that they were hired to perpetuate a scam.

I received a call on February 06, 2014 from a James Mallory from CCR and Associates stating that he was givng me a curtesy called to get some information before legal papers where either sent to my home or my place of employment, but since i didnt answer the phone he assumed that I was not available. the number that contacted me was 1-855-710-5665. First of all anybody that knows me or anything about me knows that I am in chapter 13 and has been for months and the most important part is that anybody that knows me know that I work at night. Im not sure who these people are and once I googled them everything that I've found out about them has been horrible. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Got a call from a marcus gray saying there is a case against me and i have 24 hours to call back. Got a case number and everything. Knew it wasnt right since i dont have anything...but heres another number they called from 877 881-3016

This guy called his name is Darren Ross said I owed money from 2004 had all my info and wanted my checking account number to make a payment so I wouldn't be served a summons to appear in court. The number was 1-888-650-7873 Ext 1 was the number given by the first caller 520-624-0894

I just got the same msg on my voicemail. Thank goodness for sites like this. Mine was about some case from social security, Ive never filed for social security & have ALWAYS paid my taxes so wtf! Thats why i was suspicious & decided to google it. But he also knew my social security #, which has me very nervous... how can he know that!?

I just recieved a call from these idiots saying to call them back concerning a legal issue or we would recieve a court summons tomarrow. I called them back and they wanted me to negotiate a payment over the phone with them for a ''dept'' of over $4,000 that supposedly happened 5 years ago. I told them they were full of crap and asked them why their is all this information all over the internet saying they are scammers. The man was really rude insisting that they were legit and that I could even listen in 3way on another call,that in itself is fishy why would a legit buisiness of this kind allow me to listen in on a 3way conversation and possibly obtain someone elses personal  information in the process.I guess I will see if someone shows up at my door tomarrow....as a matter of fact since they know so much I should have asked them what our adress is according to their records, ya know since they apparently know everything and are ''legit.''

I recieved a voicemail from a Jason Sparks and he said he had a sealed envelope on his desk and to avoid being served I needed to call the 888 number...I called it and I do have a payday loan I took out 10 years ago and they said I owed $660 well If I think back my loan was for $300.00. I paid the loan back 10 years ago The check bounced but I was unaware becuase I moved, anyways they used that against me and threatened to file criminal mischife charges and that with the debt  its a 15 year statue of limitations, ok well Im from Florida and the limitation is 5 years I also reasearched they cant file criminal charges..So at first I was going to borrow the money to pay this back tomorrow I was freaked out but the more I thought about it the more Im like this guy is lying to me!!!!  So I will call him back like I said I would tomorrow and tell him I researched this phone number and the company and I will not send any money until I speak to my attorney and also speak with the attorney general...these people are obivously breaking laws by lying and bullying people,,

Received a phone call last week from someone at this summer saying he was from the liaison office and that he had a sealed envelope in his hand and that it looked like I was getting sued by someone and if I knew anything about it. I said no.  He then gave me this number and told me to call it and and give them this case number 655206.  Naturally being suspicious I never called the number as I know of no one who have probable cause to bring a suit against me.  I am reporting this number to help avoid this happening to someone else.

So for you this number was no scam?? I got a call and I do have an old account from 7 years ago that I had not taken care of. They had my info and read my SSN to me. Just let me know if this was a scam still even with a debt you owed!! Thanks. Nervous about all this since they are saying they have charges against me and I dont wantr anything to happen!!

I got a call from some one that told me that there was legal issue that needs to be addressed so I need to call 888-650-7873. I called them and they said there was criminal charges, court dates, fines, and garnishments for a check they said I wrote in 2003 to some check cashing place. I didn't even have a checking account at the time. Yelling back and forth for some time and I hung up. A freind told me to google the number and I found all this fraud information. Some one needs to do something about these type of scams and scare tacticts

i got a call from this number about two hours ago they left a message saying i had a unpayed pay day loan from early 2000 an dneeded to pay asap i called them back the liason told me that i will be served with papers and arrested if i did not pay when i asked for information mailed to he said i cant do that but he said he could email me the info i told him if he could not send me hard copies in the mail then i would just wait to get served  i called the federal trade commission on this matter and they r investigating if you guys have a complaint on this group pls call the federal trade commision the website is ftc.gov

I received a call today asking for a certain name that I know well. I stated he was  not available and I asked what this was in regards to. He stated he was a private locator. That he needed to  serve a summons to said name at his place of business or home. I asked which middle initial. He said he had to identical names but no middle initial. He asked how I was related to said party. I asked him how  he had my private cell number. He stated it was listed as said parties phone number in 2011. I told him again it was my private cell number and that it did not belong to this person.

When I asked again which middle initial that I could not help him without knowing which person he was inquiring about, he said if you will verify the last 4 digits of his  s.s. #. I laughed and said I would not  have access to that kind of private information. He then gave me a bogus case number and told me to have this person call that number.

He  asked  me again another question. I asked him what or from  whom the summons was from. He said it was a sealed envelope. I told him that it was a two way street, That he was not providing me with any information, so I would not provide him with anything. He said Ok and asked that I have said party call this 888-650-7873.  

I asked his name which he said was  Thomas Green but he assured me that he would not be at that number that I would be actually contacting CCR and Asscociates.

My sister immediately googled the number and of course got this site. I googled CCR and Associates which mentions the scam.

Oh well, it was a bit of entertainment for me,  l got a laugh out of it. Not laughing at the poor souls who fall for this bunk, but laughing at how ignorant and desperate these scammers really are.

I recieved the same call today... it scared me a little but i keep everything all my paperwork so when they said i owed all this money i knew it wasnt true, told them to send me something,, they couldnt do that after 15min the guy hung up on me because i told him i dont throw anything away and if they are taking me to court i will be ready please dont send them nothing SCAM SCAM SCAM.. i need to thank you all for posting the comments cause this place is a scam and should be a same of their selfs. I dont have any money today tomorrow or ever.. wish people would stop being so greedy.

Just received a voicemail  from this number 888-650-7873. Gave me the same type of scripting and  said ask for ext. 1 and the legal department. Even provided a case #. I am leary of anything like this, so I called them back and the man answering the phone said his name fast enough that I couldn't write it down. I was annoyed in the first place and he asked for the case number. Gave that to him and when I asked what this was in reference to he stated that he was just one of the secretaries and the office was shutting down for the day and I could call back tomorrow. I informed him that I am aware of past fradulent history with other companies (ie: the "indian accent" people who call from multiple phone numbers and threaten and harrass you) and that I would not be calling anyone back because I work a lot and that if he has my information and was ligit then he would be able to tell me why someone from CCR would be calling me and furthermore if  they were closing for the day... why would he answer the phone and not just let the business voicemail obtain my message. He hung up on me.... Pretty sure this is another "SCAM" and a way to steal someone's identity. Very concerned as to how these fraudulent idiots are getting our information. Maybe they should go try and make an "honest" living like the rest of us do!!

Got a call fm "Charles Smith with the dept of legal services."  Same BS... "we got a fax... going to serve you w/in 24 hrs..." They keep calling from an Unknown Number. Very mickey mouse message. Obvious scam. If they call back will tell them to go ahead and serve me!

I received the same message from a 'liaison' on behalf of CCR.  Same story as everyone else here.  I decided to look up the number he left for me to call and found this site.  What a bunch of bogus crap.  I had received a similar call a few years ago and got in an argue  with the guy and he hung up on me.  Never heard from them again!

A  Ron Anderson called from 1888650787 asked i call them back because they wanted to schedule when i would be served. He was from liasion and gave me a company name of CCR and gave me a case number. These people will hopefully be caught soon. Do not believe them!!!!

I received a call last week saying I had a check fraud warrant out. I knew I didn't, but what really worries me they had all my info; including my SS#. What do I do!!!?? I was asked to give them a pre-paid CC number every month for the next six months. Such a scam!!!

Exact same thing here!  What's sad is evidently these guys have scared some people into giving information our even paying OR they would not keep doing this.  Thank God got this site......thanks everyone!  Of course same thing for me....a courtesy call before someone would be to my house or place of work-lol

I received a phone call saying they were calling on behalf of CheckSmart Store # 850593 for a check I wrote 26 September 2006 and I owe $544.03 dollars they knew my current address, a previous employer and  the last 4 of my social.  I were saying I will be served with paper and evidence within the next 24 hours and a court date will be issued and once I got to court I will have to pay $3000.  Please do something about these scam artist!

Got the same call.. 18886507873 same man, case number a54-958..  Cr legal services I was to be served with paper for what, I didn't know he stated he couldn't open the mail without my signature..really? U do not get warnings of someone coming to serve u papers, ESP. In the state of Florida

I received a call from this number also.  They claimed that I owed them money from a couple payday loans. Well I had already paid them years ago thew another collection agency. I called the collection agency that I paid and they said that this CCR is a scam and that the FBI was looking for them.
