Merrill Lynch Financial Advisory Center, unwanted call

It would be nice if caller id showed as "Merrill Lynch", instead of "Toll Free Caller"

They have to verify your identity to ensure they are speaking to the account holder. Of course they had the info, they needed to ensure you were you.

I got a call today from this #, but was busy & couldn't answer (No VM left). I have BAM accounts & they spoke to me about Merrill. They said they'd send an email & will follow up with a call. They called a couple days ago from this #, & the woman I spoke to when I called BAM, left a VM. So it's legit. It is BAM/Merrill calling.
I guess the hard part is, we don't want to give out our personal info, but neither do they before they verify they're talking to the right person. So if worried, ask them for a call back # & ext., quickly check the number online & call them back if you want.
The one thing I'm starting to not like is, I told them I'd think about it & as of right now not ready to switch my trade account with another company to them. So a call here & there is one thing, & I know the Rep is just trying to earn their commission, bonus, etc. But, if they start constantly calling daily, it's really going to bother me & make me not want to deal with them, just because of the daily calls.

late posting on this one:
27 December 2013 @ 1052L got a call from [888-654-6837]...
CallerID showed [UNAVAILABLE], so I let it go to phone recorder.
They didn't leave a message.

I am hard of hearing and I can't hear too well on my cell phone sometimes. I got a call from 888-654-6837 today. I said no thank you and hung up after he said 2 or 3 sentences I hardly understood and he wasn't even foreign. I have a really hard time with that. I looked it up and found both a ML number and a fraud number. Well, I guess hearing loss does pay sometimes.

Keep getting calls/voicemail messages from this # from Joshua Giovonovic ext. 1573229. Company name Meryl Edge asking for Katherin Roberts. I returned the call and got an automated system asking for an account #. Being that I don't have an account, I pressed 0# and was connected to an operator asking for name and account#. I didn't give them my name, and since they already have my phone# I let them know that they have the wrong # for this Katherine Roberts and please stop calling. The operator said thank you and would try to find the account to flag it with wrong number. If this is a legit company, glad I could help; if not, I hope the calling stops.

Several years ago I had the very same experience as Greylady. BAM would not divulge origin of charge except that it was out of country. I also filed a claim which was taken care of . My question is why is BAM still allowing this? They obviously have a severe security problem and choose not to get on top of it. Got the call this morning from "not provided" and don't know if legitimate as I don't answer unidentified calls. Now I'm really afraid after reading the above comments, that BAM/Merrill Lynch has another security breach. This is not the way to make a legitimate contact.

Got a call from these jerks, this morning that they had a Trust Account open in my name, and they needed to verify my identity. I called the extension left for me, but I kept getting "call ending". So, I said: "Agent, Agent, Agent", until a call went through and I was transferred to a live person. Upon being transferred, the gentleman who answered asked me for my name or account number. Since they called me regarding a trust account they were looking for the beficiary for, they should have had my name, but I provided it. Next they asked me for my Social Security Number. At this point, I knew something was up. If they are calling me regarding a Trust in my name, they should have my SSN. Duh? This is a legal DOCUMENT, listed in Probate law. Little did they know, they called an ex-investigator and Paralegal. I did a reverse look=up on the number, and it came back as a Telemarketing firm. I also referred the info. to local authorities, since this is a scam. 04/30/13.

Right before this number called, I got a text from 631-355-9002 "Hey". In my text history they also sent. "You should come over". I don't know this number but texted back. Following my response, they called from the 888 number.

They left a message saying they were Merrill Edge calling for a Mr. Clark (I have no idea who this is, and we've had this phone number for almost a decade, so I doubt it's a previous owner of the number) to discuss his account. I'm hoping they just dialed wrong and it was a one time thing, but if they call again, hopefully I'll be home to answer it so I can tell them they have the wrong number.

I got Merrill Lynch. They left a message cause I haven't talked to them about my portfolio since 2008 when all of my stock tanked.

I got this call today 5:26. It would be great if this was a business call, if the company name would be given instead of "not provided". Why would I answer that call? I am wary of calls from any business who asks for personal info on phone (re: James above). Too many people already have access to too much of people's private info. Someone from BAM accessed my credit card from out of country. It was taken care of but I had to file a report. They (BAM) would not tell me where charges originated but I can guess! They say you'll be alerted regarding suspicious transactions however..... Yeah, I,m an old lady of 74 and subscribed to a dating service from India. Looks suspicious to me!!
