if the message does not use your name or identify themselves, it is clearly FRAUD. Ignore it as best as possible. Legitimate operations state who they are & why they are calling & ask for a specific individual.

They left two messages on my home phone yesterday stating that they are calling to collect a debt. I have no delinquent debts and want to block this caller

This number has called my cell 4 times since Monday. Each time I answer, they hang up.

Got a call from this number, said she wanted to speak to xxx. Told her not here. She wanted to leave her name and number, asked her what it was about, she said it was about a tax filing. Said had contacted the IRS. Wouldn't tell me who she was with but after 30 seconds of bantering back and forth she said fine, I will just "send this thru". I said I will be happy to take the name and number down but I demanded to know who this was since she was calling about my wife and she could deal with me. She finally got frustrated and hung up. It was a debt collector .

Collection agencies can not drain bank accounts, that is against the law. They can only debit pre-authorized amounts by either the debtor or the client. What is so wrong with paying your bills in the first place? Bill collectors would be completely unnecessary if you dead beats would pay your bills.

calls and lets ring 5 times then no one there when answer. calls numerous times. my number is a business number. it gets to be annoying after a while

I just got a call asking for a Jane also. I have had this # for 3 years. When I try to call back.. the phone doesn't ring. When I call the 2nd number they left for me on the recorder.. it says that I cannot access that number as dialed???/

Yep. These morons have also been calling me on a daily (and sometimes twice daily) basis for two weeks, now from these other numbers: Guess I'll add this -888 number to my growing list of blocked numbers from these "Buffaloes". I actually have a debt that I am working off with Portfolio but the person I haveing helping me is Kathleen and I am ALWAYS referred to her when I call and they show up on my caller ID. This guy shows up as a private caller. Told him I wasn't home gave me a totally different number to call with no extention. I went to their website http://www.portfoliorecovery.com nothing new there. When Kathleen calls she is always polite and has worked with me on my ONE debt. Since I have only one I have no idea who this bozo is that is calling.

called back this number, got recording identifying as Fifth Third Bank but due to heavy call volume, could not take my call.

I get several calls a day from this number. They never leave a message on voice mail.

Credit Card bill collector from Washington Mutual. They call constantly Monday through Sunday many times per day. I've missed my last payment and they are calling non-stop.

This time, it was someone named 'Bobby Williams', Extension 317, calling for our son. We've gotten calls thru the ' line, when callers use the 'unknown caller' route. He gave the number, 1, ext.317 this time ) 6:55PM. We've been getting them continuously; I just got curious, and the caller gave this information.

Called looking for my husband had left a RUDE message. Stated his name was Joel Stone. He called again, and in the meantime i found this page so when he called back i said he had the wrong number, i just got this number. He was stupid enough to ask if i knew where the previous owner of the phone number was/lived. DUH! He then called someone at a house we lived at TEN YEARS AGO (we know the people). I dont know what this is aobut and dont really care. Apparently, what he is doing is ILLEGAL and if he continues to bother me i will be filing my OWN charges of harassment!! A man with an accent called me from this number requesting to speak with someone who doesn't even live in my home. When I told him that person does not live here he then proceeded to ask me questions about how long I have had my phone number, who is it listed to, etc. This person/company should be reported to the National Do Not Call Registry. I have already done so, but others should also complain!!

Half a message is left daily. Mentions something about debt, but does not leave name of company or details. Comes up unavailable on caller ID.

GOT FIRST CALL FROM THEM A FEW MINUTES AGO. ANSWERING MACHINE WAS ON. A RECORDED MESSAGE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT COLLECTING A DEBT FROM THE SAME LAST NAME, BUT THE WRONG FIRST NAME. JUST FOR SAFETY, I'M GOING TO GO TO THE DONOTCALL WEBSITE AND FILE A COMPLAINT.

They have called me twice both times saying they needed to talk to me about debt collection. I called back and a female answered the phone and was agrumentative and asked me didn't I have a sex life instead of calling her. She said my number would be removed from their calling system.

We've been received calls from "Unknown Caller" for weeks now. Often the caller hangs up, but sometimes I get the recorded message for someone we don't know who has a similar first and last name as ours. Very irritating, and I have no idea what to do about it. They call usually 3-4X every day.

Yep, called me too. Don't really know why as this is a company cellphone they are calling and it's owned by the company and not me and I doubt, that the company I work for has any collection issues. Go away MOFO's!!!

From time to time got a call for somebody's name but it is absolutely NOT ME! So annoying!
