} "SOME ONE NEEDS TO NAIL THESE JERKS TO WALL!"

I would agree, but you are the one who needs to swing the hammer. You cannot expect your AG or any regulator to slide down a fire pole and fight your personal battles. Someone might only if by chance your case shows a sufficient amount of shocking behavior to attract media attention and/or votes.

Vulture collection has been a growing problem in a tanking economy. Debt collectors have to stand in the probate line like everyone else and cannot go around trying to run guilt trips on surviving family members. For less than six dollars you can lock this bunch under a cease-comm notice, sent via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

Learn more of how to exercise your FDCPA rights as an alleged debtor at FTC-dot-gov.

Thanks so much for parroting what you were told in Compliance Training in your barely comprehensible thumb-talk. What "the law states", namely the FDCPA, is that collection reps cannot discuss a debt account with someone not considered the "consumer", or alleged debtor. This ridiculous dance you agencies all do around privacy, where each end of the phone is trying to get the other to reveal an identity and call purpose, is mostly due to the Foti-NCO case.

A collector must make ''meaningful disclosure'' of its identity yet respect the privacy of whoever is named on a debt account. Collectors are thus in constant danger of breaking one law to satisfy the other, and many do willingly. They may feel entitled to information from a call recipient, but no one they call is required to respond.

As for what you consider "helping people", there is no compelling evidence that paying an uncontested debt claim does anything to improve credit ranking. Suggesting as much in a collections effort is unlawful per the Credit Repair Organizations Act. A collections trade line reading "paid" often drags *down* a credit score in our wonderful credit system.

Furthermore, Plaza has a history of lawbreaking behavior which will not be erased by a halfway name change. It was bought out in November by United Recovery Systems, (aka URS Limited and Unipoint Holding) possibly the worst junk debt buyer and collector in existence in terms of ridiculous claims and legal violations.

I usually don't answer these calls, but felt like having fun today.  I answered with a strange accent and broken english.  They asked for Sarah and I told them I was not that person (because I'm not).  She asked me how long I had this number and I told her 32 years (which is true).  She said she would not call me again.  Yeah, right!  Like I believe that.

Just got a call from these losers saying they are calling from Plaza Associates or something like that.  The guy had a middle eastern accent and quickly asked me for my last 4 numbers of my social security. Total scam.  The guy said I had some association with them and he needed my digits before proceeding.  I hug up on him and told them I had no association with them and would not give them a thing.  I hung up.

These people ( supposedly Troy and Anna) actually came by the office and left this phone number. Knew they were scammers right off the bat as they asked who handles our ComEd account. Rang the telephone number they left and it was a prerecorded 'debt-collector' message. Contacting ComEd and if they come back again I will be calling the police.

They were looking for the person who had this number before us.  I asked them to put us on a do not call list.  I explained that the person they were looking for turned in this number, and we were later assigned it.  They wanted to know how long ago...I replied over six months.  Now I understand why we keep getting calls for this person.  They probably dropped this number because of all the collection calls they were getting...therefore we now get them for her.  :(

I just received a call from this number. I am the only one in the household and they kept asking for someone named Robert. I told them they have the wrong number. Then the man asked if the street I lived on was **** Drive, well I told him yes cuz it was. Then he asked me for my address #, I then got angry and told him I will not give out my information. So pretty much, they have my information correct with phone number and address but who the hell is Robert!
I have no debt so don't waste my time!

Received a call from this number asking for a Michael C. Smith. I informed this person that there are a million Michael Smiths and I wanted to know what the call was regarding. I was informed that he was not allowed to give that information because it was a personal matter. I said, yes, it is. This is my phone number you are calling. So I asked them not to call my number again. I hung up and called the number back to find out it is a debt collection agency called Plaza Associates. I am a little concerned.

It is the Governments fault that these leeches do what they do, GOV. wants NOTHING to do with them, and they refuse to stop them from annoying innocent people,  but if we take matters into our own hands then the F__CKing GOV. comes in and PROTECTS these SCUM SUCKERS and we end up in trouble for something some other b*****d started.
