I was called by this number twice. No messages. I didn't call this number back, but I think it is a legit Wells Fargo warning system as I logged into my credit card (after reading that it might be Wells Fargo on this forum) and my credit card was stopped due to fraudulent purchases. Called the official Wells Fargo number and they confirmed that my card was closed because of fraud and they're now sending me a new card.

So of course don't give info to an unknown number, but double-check with Wells Fargo if you get a call from this number because it's either real or I just had a ridiculously well-timed coincidence.

I got a call from the same number for the same reasons as you all. They called a house in another STATE i lived in 5 years ago. So instead of the number left on the msg(888-671-2468), i called the official bank number. The lady i spoke to hadn't heard of the number. She said it could be a false autimated msg used to gather your info to verify purchases they made on my card. $800 at home dept. Maybe her and i are both wrong, but to be safe just call the official bank number, or number on your card! My online account also verified there was an isue with the card and gave me the official number, and NOT the 888 shite.
Be safe!

I got a call twice from the 888-671-2468 and both time they said that they where from the Fraud Department of Wells Fargo, it sounded legit they even used my Name in the recording. I did not give them my info I just hung up but I did call Wells Fargo at the 800 number that's on the back of my card and they told me that was a fraud call. some one is spoofing the Caller ID of Wells Fargo and any one can do that with a basic phone system. Just be aware Never give out your info when someone calls you asking for it always call them back at the number on the back of the card or the one on the website also do you research  before you call back this goes for just about anything like Banks, IRS, you won a prize call.

This number is legitimate.  I made an online purchase and received a call about three minutes later.  Instead of calling back, I called the number on the back of my credit card (800-642-4720) and she confirmed it was their fraud department.  In addition to this, she went over my last five purchases with my card to ensure everything was square.  However, I would recommend disregarding the recorded message and call the bank directly instead, just to be safe.

I got a call from 888-671-2468 the other day on my cell.  I couldn't answer it because I was in the middle of a conversation.  Then the same number called my work phone a few minutes later.  Someone else answered and asked me if I had a Wells Fargo Credit card.  I accidentally hung up on them and had to call the fraud number.  This number was from Wells Fargo and they had flagged my card for fraud.  When I called back, I was in my account info online and could tell them that, yes, my card was frauded, and they had to cancel that card immediately and send me a new one that I got in the mail 2 days ago.  888-671-2468 is a legit bank fraud number.  If you're not sure about the number before you check it out, at least check your bank info, which in my case, verified that my card was red flagged and I was a victim of card fraud.

Well, I received one of these calls today and I let everything go to my recorder. Now that I read all of this, I will say that I don't have a Wells Fargo Bank account or card so how could this ever be true?

I know there is debat whether this number is valid or not and the validity of people posting so...

I made a purchase and within 2 hours received a call from this number.  I agree that it seems a little shady given that they left no message but mine turned out to be a legitimate call from WellsFargo.

My suggestion would be to just log on and check your account or call WellsFargo with the number on your card.  I logged on and sure enough it showed that my card was temporarily suspended until they could verify my purchase.

Hope this helps.

Left a message on my machine claiming to be from Wells Fargo fraud prevention.  Called the number on my card and there were questionable charges.  Believe the message, but call the official number instead.

Yes, this is a Wells Fargo number. I was logging onto my online banking at the same time I was answering. I will hang up if they ask me about SSN or so. But they only asked me about zip code, and then they gave me correct warning on transactions I made in other state (it shows a warning online, too). After I approve all transactions, the flag was gone from online banking.

Good advice!  I got a call from my bank (CitiBank), and when they said 'fraud alert', I said "I'll call you back".  Guess the agent was inexperienced, as she said- "OK- here's the number" .   I told her that as she had called me, there was NO number,  she could give me that I would use, unless it matched the one on the card or statement, which it didn't.

I wasn't surprised it was a fraud alert. I was surprised a "bank fraud agent", would offer me a number to call.

btw, just to make it murkier <g>  when I was (legitimately) called about a fraud alert, that alert did NOT appear on the web page, after I logged in.

Just my 2 cents

There's at least one scammer out there spoofing this number on caller ID. Which means it could be a fraud. In my case, it was legitimate - Earlier today, I accidentally tried to use my recently expired credit card (Grabbed the wrong one off the nightstand). I called the bank back (at their official number, not the one on the caller ID) after googling this number, and we got it handled. Best advice - call your bank, not this number. Just in case.

You get a call from Wells Fargo? Fine, but YOU call them back. Using a number from the back of a credit card, statement, or phone book. NEVER give personal information out on a call you did not make. NEVER. The caller ID may say "Wells Fargo", that doesn't mean that's who it it. Caller ID is easily faked.

This really is Wells Fargo trying to get in contact with you regarding fraudulent charges on your credit card.  After googling this phone number when they didnt leave  message, I checked my cc charges and there were 4 fraudulent charges on my Wells Fargo cc.  Check your Wells Fargo account if you get a call from this number and then call the number of the back of your card

Saturday morning, received an 888 call on my cell phone (888-671-2468).  I let it go to voice mail and checked it shortly after and it referred to me and my wife by name saying it was Wells Fargo's fraud protection system.  The voice said I should call 888-671-2468.  I called the number and the automated voice sounded official.  It asked if I was calling from the number they called me. But when it asked for the last four digits of my credit card, I became skeptical. Maybe they have a little information and are going to gather the rest on this call.

So I did a Google search of the phone number and arrived at this web site. Others said it was a bogus number and one said it was a good number because he called the number on the back of his card.

I didn't think to call that number but once I did, I found out the info that my card had suspicious charges was true, several $100 gas charges in Texas; I'm in California.

So, now I'm convinced, don't call the number that leaves a voice message, call the number on the back of the card.

I received a call from this number, it said it was Wells Fargo's fraud department.  I called the number on the back of my care and it was them calling me.  I know some people say that this is not real but if you don't believe it you can call the bank.  It is an automated message asking you to call them about possible fraudulent charges.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

After receiving a call from this number, I called Wells Fargo to check. The representative confirmed the number was from Wells Fargo. Either way, don't give your information to them if you don't feel right doing so. The representatives at Wells will be happy to handle it if you call them using the number on the back of your card. Everybody wins.

I made a purchase and had forgot something and went back to the store to purchase the forgotten items and the 2nd transaction didnt go through. Common sense tells me that Wellsfargo stopped the 2nd transaction because it appears some one is on a shopping spree. I used a different card and went home. When I got home I had just missed a call from this number. So, I logged in to my online account and saw I had a blocked on my account so I called the customer service number. Sure enough, they told me that their fraud department tried to get a hold of me and wanted to verify my phone number. all was ok and they on blocked my account. I told them when I looked up the 888 671 2468 it appeared that wells fargo wasn't calling me. Rule of thumb ALWAYS call them back from your online account or the number on your credit card (that has a customer service # just to be on the safe side. No recording should ask you to key in your number but in the past I know they do.
