I have a paypal smart connect credit card. I don't even know the account number because I use my paypal debit card to make the purchases because paypal emails me a receipt for every transaction. (if there is no money in my paypal account it uses smart connect as a backup credit card) I was online today and saw that my available credit had dropped over $100 so I called PayPal. It was not a paypal transaction so they sent me to their Smart Connect Credit department. There is a pending charge for $105.84 to Computer Systems Information Services. I had not made any such purchase, and since I don't know the actual account number for that account I know I didn't enter it online or give it away anywhere!. There is obviously a leak somewhere and this company is getting hundreds of people's account info. I can't even dispute the charge until it is complete and there is no phone number for the company.

Same here. Noticed a transaction on my paid off Chase card for $14.90 on 4/13.. Called Chase about it, they credited me back, but there was no information as to what company this was. I found myself wondering if I had set up automatic billing for some account somewhere and maybe forgot about it, but I know I didn't. Anyway, after searching around a bit and calling that number I realized it was fraudulent. I called Chase, told them what I knew and what I'd found out about "Hosting Sales", and immediately requested a new card with a new number. My old card is no longer a valid card and I am taking a pair of scissors to it as we speak. I've had this account for several years and used it occasionally for online purchases, but not excessively. My best advice to anyone who's gotten hit for "HOSTING SALES" is to immediately call your credit card issuer and get a new card with a new account number.

I had a charge of $24.90 on my chase card company name Hosting Sales there was a phone number beside the name 888-678-8560 called it they wanted last six digigts of my credit card when i enterd it after automated phone prompt it immediately told me my account was being credited back $24.90.It is a scam I have had 3 credit cards in the last 4 months with fraudulent charges on my discover card they ran it up to $68,000.00 I called Discover when I first saw fraud charges @ $16,000.00 and they kept letting them charge I guess they were trying to reverse ip adress to catch them they took all chrges off my card that were not legit they were charging airline tickets and books @ ohio university 160 different charges a day books costing $150.00 so anyone reading this close your credit cards every 3 months and reopen with new card numbers or you will end up like me having to fill out credit card fraud paper forms file police reports very time consuming and I dont even use my credit cards to purchase online .They scam a lot of money some people just pay their bill withoput looking at charges

sounds to me like a data processing company got their data hacked. especially since you're getting cards that haven't been used in a long time suddenly getting charged.

of course the big credit card providers won't admit it until it goes public.

did anyone else call the number and get the message that your charge will be refunded? that was weird... the charge was $24.90 on march 22 and will be refunded may 10. hmmm...

Man that sucks!
That has come up a few times. One person even stated they haven't used the card for almost 2 years.
I'm not a hundred % on the vendor. This does suck. Even if we get our money back, What about the Bank? That adds up over time.

I hope they reported them. That is the key.
People are payed to just turn/Flip numbers off to someone else.
I try and keep an eye on my card to see were it go's. I look for things like a camera phone, and Card rippers. Small Card readers the size of a thick pack of Gum. They swipe & the information is recorded.
Their is enough memory for hundreds of cards.

Went to buy gas today and the pump wouldnt take my card. Went to see the attendant and he said my card had been declined. I was furious and immediately called Citibank. They told me there had been some suspicious charges to my card from HOSTING SALES so they immediately put a security hold on my card.  I do not use this card to buy stuff online. I only use it to buy gas. HOW COULD THEY HAVE GOTTEN MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER WHEN ALL I USE IT FOR IS TO BUY GAS???????

This same thing just happened to me yesterday on my checking account debit card. Went to the bank today, started a fraud claim and ordered a new debit card. I will get my money back in a couple of days hopefully. I have been using my card alot so pinpointing the culprit is impossible. The bank said that anyone who was running the card legitamately could have saved the number and security code on the back and then used it fraudelently later. My wife's friend caught some sales clerk taking a picture of her card with the clerk's cell phone to reuse the number later.

I got charged $19.90 from "hosting sales" after it posted I called the number and the first thing I hear is "if you don't recognize a charge on your account press 1" That sounds like scam to me. No business would have that as their first option. I'm having my card cancelled even though it said it was being refunded. I don't want to chance anymore charges coming out. I just wonder how they got my debit card number in the first place.

Curious if anyone who was charged had used a green dot/walmart visa card in the past?   We got several of these as a gift (and you have to use your ss number to activate), used the money and shut them down.   We've had 2 strange charges show up on credit cards under the ss used to activate the greendot/walmart visa cards.

Same here, charge for $19.90 on 4/23.  I called Bank of America while it was still pending, and they said they would take it off for me once it posted.  I don't know how they got my information since I haven't been doing a lot of shopping with that card lately.  Good thing I get daily balance alerts from BofA, noticed my account was missing $20 right away.

I just had the same $19.90 charge to my BofA account. I called the bank and they canceled my card. I saw that someone said they have really only used big name sites to make purchases. I never use that card! I have only used it once in probably over a year to make an online purchase at Amazon.com only a couple of weeks ago so it definitely could be related to amazon.com purchases!

It seems the front for the scam is webhosting services.  I have only used this card on 6 online stores.  The only two places not from a major retailer like newegg was an electronics store in texas and WEB HOSTING SERVICES for a year back in 2002.  Anyone have either of these in common?

It has been refunded but its a good scam if they hit 1 million people for $15 and no one checks the statements then they make alot.

Who ever is doing this is fairly shrewd as many legit temporary providers of internet (say at an airport terminal) charge these same amounts listed.   Number traces back to several "web hosting sites", looks like scam is well designed to sneak past credit card companies fraud departments.

Also been "visited" by this company.   A $14.90 charge appeared on a Chase Visa April 12.   Chase called the automated number and credited money back.   Filed federal complaint under identity theft and filing local police report.

It seems from the posts that those of us getting nailed with this (myself for 24.90, and another one pending) scam are on cards that haven't been used in a long time.  My advice is advise any of your friends who have cards they are no longer using to get them cancelled.

Yep, add me to the list of victims. I got charged last night for 14.90. Immediately called my bank, told them there is NO WAY I used my card in the last few weeks, so I cancelled the card, new ones in the mail. Who or whatever this "company" is is making some serious dough and I hope the feds can catch them. Obviously a scam scam scam. Btw, I got the same message as everyone else when I tried calling them, and got the same operator is busy thing.
