I got a call from 757-453-2117 they asked me to call 1-888-686-2848 with reference number 582731.  They will not tell you anything unless you give them part of your social security number.  The first time I called "EW Associates" and wouldn't do this, she hung up on me.  I called back and got the same lady (what are the chances of that?) and she argued with me, would not tell me where she was at or what kind of legal documents were being served.  I called the Sheriff's department and they said any "legal documents" to serve a summons would be brought by them.  Bogus!

I always answer and record these calls.  The call today came from 757-453-2117.  The caller identified herself as Lisa from the Department of Civil Procedures, but identified no state or company until specifically I asked for it.  She did give me the company name EW & Associates, but refused to give me an address.  This particular one says they want to serve me with legal documents and asked if I'll be available tomorrow between 9:00 and 11:00 to receive them.  They refused to give me an address or to disclose what the papers were regarding, and stated that in order to get that information I had to call 888-686-2848 and give them my case number.  I already know what it's about, because these fraudulent companies have been harassing me for over a year to collect on a Capital One debt from 2003 that I don't even owe.  Capital One has been known to advise people to NOT give money to agencies like this.  Threats of legal action from these companies are ILLEGAL.  The fact is that you will not be served with legal paper if you have never even received something in the mail regarding the debt.  Please don't give or verify ANY of your personal information, and definitely DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY.  If they are calling you with threats regarding invalid debts, please report them to the Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Protection Bureau, FBI, and your State Attorney General's office.

Got an email saying a collection acct was 219 overdue. Checked number on here.

Call from "Jesse Williams" needing to contact me regarding legal documents Case # 551572.  Another new scam. Call came from 302 266 0876 and "Jesse" said to call him back at 888 686 2848. "Just be responsible, go ahead and take care of this legal matter."  Total B.S.
