We have been harrassed and annoyed in a different way by the apparent actions of Lewis and McCarthy for several months now. It seems this collection agency (716-322-2344) is using three of our internal direct-phone numbers (that we know of) in their voice or "robo-dial" messages that they are supposedly leaving for their debtors/consumers/potential victims. These people then call us, usually angry, upset or complaining about the personal nature or threatening call they received, and interrupt our business - which has nothing to do with Lewis and McCarthy. Long story short, one of the victims, er, consumers, called us (the number they were told to call) - we explained that we had nothing to do with this other company - and later they called back and gave us the Caller ID number they received for Lewis & McCarthy. When I called them with my complaint, I was told that their I.T. Manager would call me back to resolve. Shortly later, I received a call from a person claiming to be a "Ryan Walsh" from Lewis & McCarthy, who felt there was not much he could do about the phone number problem. He claimed the consumer was dialing the wrong number. When I asked him why over a hundred people would be wrong - he did not have an answer for me - other than he would check with his phone carrier to see what they could do to resolve the issue. Color me skeptical that they will resolve the issue.

Everyone of you took out these loans and just skimped even mr military like and esignature exists meaning u probably took the loan online and now u want to walk w yr four hundred bucks your obv an upstanding citizen kuz these ppl have your Ssn which means someone gave it to them ie you or someone defrauding u I hope u get satisfaction out of yourself theif

I was contacted sounded legit for a couple minutes, until I started asking for copies of everything like the check I supposedly signed back in 2009, when I replied I was deployed over seas that year they backed tracked and said it was 2008, they threatened court etc etc etc . Thank god for iPhone and Internet , the only thing they sent was a settlement letter however I never had a payday loan bunch of frauds

I received a call from Lewis & McCarthy. They stated I had an old payday loan that needed to be paid. Man said potstanding amount , and If I received the forms send to my Job and home  address . I advice no and I do still work at same location .  He states I have charges against me and will end up in court . He told me the
conversation I was having with him is going nowhere and good luck and hung up .

** now just before this conversation , I had a voice mail tell me to I needed to appear in court , This is the reason I call this 800#. I ask for the Date and Time . All I got was the run around on how much time was wasted and the amount of time and effort they had put into this matter . They want to money now . I had no say in this conversation .. Ted scream .. I ask for supv .. I got (((((Shawn Hays x 109.)))). I ask for address and direct line to him all was refuse , he said there was no need for me to have his direct line . call was disconnected. I call back ask again for a manager . and got Mr Goodman as he said .. any way he again start in on me . I did let him know I had a voice mail with a His voice telling me to show up in court . I ask what date and time , He just said I call the Attorney office and still refuse the date and time . If this is real . why not give me the info I need to show up when needed .. WOW!

They called my brother who I gave as a reference and said they were with the county Clerk of Courts Office. That is misrepresentation of an official which is a crime.

I have filed a written report with the detectives division in that city.

These people are under investigation.

I am sure that there are some legitimate claims from Luis & McCarthy, but when someone is calling to collect on a debt that you never received you can't help but to raise an eyebrow at the situation. As I said the person I spoke to was not rude in anyway, but was still using the same scare tactics.  I spoke to the Luis and McCarthy representative for some time and he mentioned to me that I would have received a loan from Mesa Financial for Bahamas Marketing Group...both of which have been found to be affiliated with scams.  I shopped around on line looking for information on Pay day loans and I was bombarded with emails saying I was approved and to confirm that I received the emails.  I erased them all, yet they claim that they deposited money into my account.  I know I never received money from them, yet they had my bank account information and all my personal information - that scares me.  I have copies of all my bank statements and not one reflects me receiving money in any form from Mesa Financial or Bahamas Marketing Group or any pay day loan company.  It is also against the law to claim that you are in investigator and a law enforcement officer if you are not.  I pay my debts, but I am not going to pay on debt for a loan that I did not receive.

I have read many of the comments on this web site.  My husband received a call from an "investigator" stating that they were looking for me regarding a fraudulent check and that I needed to get in contact with Lewis and McCarthy regarding this serious issue.  I called the number (888-308-1878) and was transferred to a gentleman named Seth Davis.  When he answered the phone he started speaking to me like I knew what was going on. I explained to him that I did not understand what he was talking about.  He went on asking me if I had received a notice from the sheriff or the courts regarding a case against me for a fraudulent check to Mesa Financial a Pay Day Loan company who I might add I never received funds from.  He continued to tell me that they(Mesa Financial) has been trying to collect on this "so called" debt from an account that has been closed for years.  Things didn't make sense to me.  I must say that I was worried that they had all my personal information as well as my SS number.  I explained that I never received funds from Mesa Financial.  He continued to state that I owed $1,500.00.  I told him that I will not pay on debt that I never received and that I would be speaking to my spouse regarding this.  He was not pushy, but he definitely was using a lot of the same scar tactics I have read from other comments.  He said that he would drop all the attorney fees and collection fees and NSF fees and all I would need to take care of would be "actual" loan amount.  I again reiterated that I did not want to pay for a loan that I never received.  I continued to speak with him and he said that he could break the payments up to very small payments a month.  I told him that I would need to speak with my spouse regarding this arrangement that he was trying to commit me to.  Would he be surprised when he actually gets a call from my attorney.

I recieved a call from this company they stated I had an unpaid Payday account.  I asked what the balance was and they said it was $879.00. They were actullay nice to me on the phone unlike other companies I have recieved calls from.   I asked for a letter to validate the debt they emailed me one within 5 minutes.  I countered them at $345.00 the orginal amount of the loan I took out and the accepted! Make sure you dont jump at the first offer and counter thier proposal.

I found out I had an open Pay Day account with these guys as well.  The balance was $1,239.98  I got these guys to settle it for $456.00 work them down and they will settle the bill make sure to counter offer ther offer to close it.

i bet every single person here has payday loans that they owe....i did. i owed it and i paid it. i think you all are saying this is a scam because you dont want to pay off the debts that you owe. you owe this money and they do not. if they ask for the same person everytime and have your social security number they probably have some sort of claim. i looked up my banking information and sure enough i took out a pay day loan from the company they named, the bank account info they gave, and the exact date they had listed. you all probably arent working and because yorue getting calls you want to complain. get a job, pay your debts, and the calls stop. they sure did for me.

people like you are the reason my percentage rate on my loans went up... hope you get what you got coming... I was checking on this company and they are not with the bbb but I called the secretary of state and they are a legit business.  You have 4 years before you will be sued but I was just sued for a citi account that was 4 months delinquent and  only 400... you realize this is sub prime lending.. like borrowing from a neighbor and being sued in civil for it.. they can charge attorney fees.. I just paid citi 1700 after they froze my account.. they buy this debt so you can negotiate. dont take top dollar... I have seen that these companies are suing lately due to the economy.  just get that offer letter

I received a call from Lewis & McCarthy. They stated I had an old payday loan that needed to be paid that day or they would send the police to my house or job. I asked for proof of the debt and they sent me what amounted to an invoice. It didn't inform me of my rights to have them verify the debt within 30 days. I called them back the next day because I googled the company and up pops this website. They are not affiliated with the BBB either. I spoke with a Shawn Hayes and told him this. He got mad and started screaming at me telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and hung up on me. I Fed Ex'd them a letter yesterday asking for proof of the debt and also detailed for them the laws that they were breaking in the letter. I filed a complaint with the FTC. These guys are scammers.

Well I have had similar experience, first I had an investigator call and threaten to serve me with papers then gave me this number to call with an ext. the guys name was Shawn Hayes is who answered when I called the number I asked what this was regarding since the investigator said I had charges pending for fraud I am like for what? Apparently they had info on and old JC Penney account I owed still and they was trying to collect for it. Well I am currently doing debt settlement with a company and this Shawn told me that they could not talk to my debt settlement company that I would have to talk to them and get a settlement offer and call them back needless to say I emailed my debt settlement company and they gave me this website. Usually I ignore most phone calls but this guy wouldn't let up and called again yesterday telling my son that I needed to call before 3 pm or they was going ahead with the charges. My gut told me something wasn't right glad I listened to it!

This is a scam. Acting like a debt collector and trying to get money. They need to be exposed! I can't even find the company on line.

They have left me messages syaing they are going to do an asset and liability search. I dont even know what that is. They act like I owe them money, but I dont owe anyone!

I had to deal with these guys and they were nothing but helpful. I had a payday loan that was out there for over a year. They didnt even charge me the %200 intrest that those crooks at the pay day loan company were charging me. I only had to pay what I owed when I defaulted and if they had charged me the intrset i would have owed $3500.00.

....And I bet you WORK for them and thats why you're putting positive feedback on here...This company is not a part of the better business bureau, they dont have a website, can't find ANY type of information on them, and they're employees are extremely rude. I wouldnt trust them.

got a call threatening me, but since its a collection agency ill save the voicemails for now. if they keep harassing me ill further look into my legal options

This company Lewis and McCarthy just seemed to show up but with the same people, just a different company.  They hit my bank account without permission under the other company name.  I got the phone number from the bank and when I tried to call it back, it went back to a cell phone in Buffalo, NY.   Truly I got scammed.

I received a call from this company.  The woman "Erica" sounded as if she did not have a high school diploma then transferred me to her "director."  He did not sound any better but started asking me questions, regarding employer, ss number, etc...It is a TOTAL scam!  When I requested more information from the company, he hung up. BEWARE!!

Lewis & Mccarthy keeps calling my cell phone numbers.  I have three for my family and they have hit on two of them.  They keep asking for the same person and when I call and tell them that we have had these numbers since 2000 and have never heard of the person they are asking for, they promise to take the number off their automatic dialer, but that just doesn't happen.

My husband just got the call that if he didn't come up with $438 within 24 hours they were taking him to court. Unfortunately, he didnt know the right things to say. I have never heard of them and nor have I ever received any correspondance from them. They use pretty threatening tactics, which I thought were illegal.

I GOT A CALL TODAY FROM THIS OFFICE.  IT WAS REGARDING A PAY DAY LOAN I HAD TAKEN OUT AND NOT PAID A YEAR AGO. I MADE THEM GET ME A LETTER FIRST EMAILED TO ME THEN I PAID IT OFF AND MADE THEM TAKE IT OFF MY CREDIT REPORT.

Total scam, I called the company who suposedly I owed money to for which they were collecting and they said no it was a scam.
