Chase Bank absolutely will call you if they suspect fraudulent activity on your credit card.  They will leave a voice message if necessary.  They called here for my wife when a charge was made from another state on her card.  If I remember correctly, it was an '800' range prefix.  They did actually deactivate the card, saving my wife from several thousand dollars of fraudulent charges made soon after that first one.  Chase was very efficient in securing her credit card!

The way to avoid a scam, however, is to always call back at the service number on your card, and NEVER return a call to a number given to you by a stranger on a phone call!  Plus, if you answer such a call, don't deal with that first caller - tell them you will hang up and call them back, yourself, at the number on the card.

Got an "urgent" call saying my chase debit card was being deactivated.  Called chase bank and they said they don't make those kind of calls. Some kind of scam!

Got a call from this number. Let machine pick up. The person on other end waited a few seconds and actually said "hello?" As if she was waiting for an answer. Waited again and then hung up after a while. Haha. The intelligence level seeps through the cracks!

These @ssholes are now calling me from two different numbers.  One number in the morning, and a different number (866-849-8008) late in the evening.  Every day, weekends and holidays included.

Received repeated calls after asking them to place me on their do not call list. It's my belief that these actions are in violation of  the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and current FCC rules in California when they refuse to honor the Do Not Call registry and specific requests to stop calling. It's possible that if everyone reports them to the FCC website, there will be power in numbers.

I got the same "Bank of America" call from this number.  Female voice, "Hello, your Bank of America card has been temporarily deactivated.  To reactivate now, press 1 and follow the prompts".  I smelled a skunk and hung up at that point.

I just received a call from this number (888) 688-9415. I decided to let the call go into voice message. The robot generic message stated to press #1 to re activate my Bank Of America credit card then the message cut off. Lena, if this is not a SCAM then explain to me why Bank Of America has no association or clue who this number belongs to?

Said they we're Chase Bank and my card had been deactivated.  Totally Phishing.

I got a call from this number today, but it was a robocaller that identified itself as Chase Bank! it told me that my MasterCard had been suspended, then it said my debit/credit card has been suspended and that I should press 1 immediately. I actually do own a MC debit/credit card so I pressed 1 (figured I'd get to the bottom of it, suspecting a scam), and I got another roborecording asking me to enter my CC number. I hung up, and when I called back to the number, I got "Alex's" VM box at Smart One Energy! I guess they're resorting to scare tactics now to get to you?

I just received a garbled message on my business phone, and returned the call because I thought it might be a vendor I work with. Instead a guy answered and said he was with a Solar company and is trying to find out who makes those calls. He didn't try to sell or tell me anything about his company other than to answer the questions that I asked him.

Now they're using 714 705 4716 as "Smart Energy Advocates" then transferring you to the 888 688 9415 ph# and calling RELENTLESSLY.  Program itself sounds like "yeah right" while they're trying to schedule the consultation. Claim that it's all free, no cost (with other cost programs available when you talk to their consultant). Thanks but not thanks, don't need to give my unlisted number to a company hiding behind a local phone #.  My research of them showed all bad reviews outside of Hawaii. Maybe they just need to go back to the Islands, but PLEASE stop calling!!
