These folks call up to 4 times a day despite the fact we never answer...

Calls at least every other day.

I also received a call from this company. Me and my mom decided to try it out because the man who called us sounded very professional and I was interested in preparing for the SAT. When the discs arrived they were not exactly what I expected so I told my mom I wanted to return them, but to return them we needed an RMA number. I had called them a few times before and left and message and they did not return my calls, I also tried emailing, with no response either. So finally my mom called them and threatened to report their services as a scam if they did not call us back today. They called us back, and I spoke with a women telling her why I did not like the program. She continued to try and convince me to keep it and I said no and asked for the RMA number, she gave it to us and then immediately hung up... I hope we get a refund and now I'm definitely not going to order anything from an 800 number again.

Same here - we get up to 4 calls a day from 1-888-697-4277 and that has been going on for months now. We never answer, our answering machine does. But they keep calling... Hope they lose a few cents every time my machine picks-up. Idiots...

I received a call from this number also, he is VERY persistent and annoying.  I just hang up when I see the number and I have now blocked that number from my phone.  My daughter has also signed up for the ACT test and some other college finding websites, so he has probably purchased the list from somewhere. I also received calls from 773 698-4277, not sure if it the same person, but it's the same thing.
I did receive a call a couple of weeks ago from College Prep Masters, from a female Deb Pryor, but her phone number was 888 728-6948 and she gave me the website of www.collegeprepmasters.com.  I thought it was the same thing, it was the same speech.

I live in rural Virginia.  I received the same call as the others here from 888-697-4277. Unlike the other posts here, my daughter likely DID mark that she was interested @ a career fair as we have been receiving lots of mail recently. However... I feel completely stupid now because I actually gave them our debit card # thinking this was something that would be good for my 16 y/o daughter.  When they called later the same day asking for the parents of my daughter (using an incorrect last name) I then became very suspicious and told the woman that they had already called me that day...she hung up.  I 've tried calling their "customer service" number to cancel the transaction for the last 2 days and all I get is either a busy signal or call goes directly to leave a voicemail where they say someone will call you back within one business day.  Needless to say that is bogus too, no one has called back.  I've already called my bank so that the charge cannot go through.  Also will report to BBB.  These people are most definitely a scam.

Although I would like to add, I don't think they are targeting just females and trying to get your address...this caller already had our mailing address bc he read it off to me.  Also my daughter's name can be either male/female and the caller kept referring to her as 'him'.  Still, it is clearly a scam and I am reporting to FTC as soon as I complete this note.

We get these calls all day long and never answer!  I'm going to pursue this with the FTC!

Today I called the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  The lady there told me to call/contact  the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Department of Justice Internet Crime Office, and your state's Consumer Protection Office/Agenct if they call you:

New twist.....  They haven't called since I last posted (pretending to be an adult!).  This time "Bob Taylor" of "College Prep Masters" called, sounding very professional.  Gave his call back number as 1-888-728-6948 and website as www.collegePrepMasters.com.  He had our daughters first/last name (with that same garbage of her having given it out at a college fair "or something"), and asked me to give him our address and he'd mail a free CD ROM to try their software.   Thankfully I did not!  When I looked at the other phone (that has caller ID) sure enough, he had called from 1-888-697-4277.  BE CAREFUL !!!!    They want your child's address!    Oh, and when I called the number several times, today it sounded legit, there is a website by that name and with that number, but I only got a recording to leave "your name as it appears on your order"......  Interesting!  Middle of the week, middle of the business day......

We received a call from this number at 8:45 pm.  When I stated that it was too late to call our home, the person on the other end of the phone said, "What, are you Mormon or something?  Do you go to bed at 8:00?"  I thought this was exceptionally rude.  He has no idea what my religion is (and it's not Mormon although I know several and think they are wonderful people!).  He doesn't kinow if we have small children we are trying to get to bed, if we are already winding down or what.  I asked to speak with a supervisor and asked to have my name removed from their list.  DO NOT answer the phone if this number calls.  They are rude and intrusive, uncooperative and nasty.  It is NOT worth your time to even say hello!!!

Another annoying call from this number. Since I am on the Do Not Call registry, these callers should be put in prison.

They call me daily; I've never answered. Will continue to do so. Filing a report with donotcall.gov. My son recently signed up online to take the SAT; seems to be that's where they're getting the info from.

some guy  ask for  my  girlfriends  daughter name   I ask why   he  hung  up   the   phone number  is 888.697.4277  I will  be  reporting this  to the FCC   since I work  for a major communications  firm ...

Got another call about an hour ago.  This time I answered pretending to be a kid and said that my parents weren't home   I asked if I could leave a message for "my parents".  He called himself "Al Alquida"  but wouldn't leave a number saying "I don't give out my number as too many people want to get me."   He told me I could have "my parents" call back with the caller id.  I said we didn't have that.  He then started talking to me, about how my parents must be living in the dark ages.,...etc.  Then, he said "you sound like you are about 30 or 40 years old."   When I said yes and stop calling here, he quickly hung up.                               I then called the cops..... !

same as above...supposedly my daughter expressed an interest in SAT tutoring.  not true!

they had called my phone and i dont know y but they seem to only ask for females. neways asked for my sisters parent i said they werent in but, i could take a message and they hung up on me immediatly. its unual that they would no the kids by there actually name so evidently they have to no something about them. but prey to god  its not much more then there name.

Was just called again.. caller gave the name Robert Morgan with the College Prep Center. When asked how he got our name/number he said "I don't know, I just work for the company." I have received no response from my note to the SAT organization.

Around 8pm tonight Caller asked to speak to the parent of (my son's name). Caller used the usual story found in the above post. He said that my son filled out an interest card for doing better on the SAT test, and that it takes them about a year to get back to people. I knew that was a lie since my son can't write, and waiting a year to get back to a potential customer is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I didn't tell the caller this.

He tried to rush past the point of how he got my phone number. When I pressed him on the issue of how he got my number, he said, "you seem to be in a rush tonight we can talk about this another time". And then he hung the phone up.
I checked the caller ID, this poor excuse for a human being has been calling my home at least since the beginning of Nov, the listings only go back that far. Don't give this fool any information at all. Don't even confirm that you are the parent of "whomever they say". Tell them you're eating and ask for a number to get back to them. Maybe he'll be dumb enough to actually give one of us a real number.

I also have recieved a call from 888-697-4277 stating that my daughter was interested in a prep program for SATs.  He went on to tell me about the program and was wanting my info to send me the program but I told him I was going to talk to my husband and he hung up.  This was a very strange call....this number has called so many times in the last week. I just so happened to answer this time.  How did this guy get my childs name?

On 11/18 at 6:00 PM EST, I received a call from the 888-697-4277 # regarding my child's interest in prep tests or school.  They knew my name.  when I asked the name of the school, the call dropped.  This is not a legitimate call - do not provide any personal info!!

Here in Lexington KY- received the same type of call from 888-697-4277 this evening, 8 pm on a Saturday night! Mentioned my daughter by name, said she had asked for prep materials for the SAT to be taken in January 2011. Told him that was impossible since she had just taken the test in November. He hung up abruptly and I have been unable to get through when I try to return the call to the number on caller ID. I have filed a complaint with the FTC Do Not Call registry and am also sending a notice to the SAT organization. Obviously, their security has been compromised..

Has anyone filed a police report on this? Have you had any results in tracking this monster down. I got the same type of call from him today.

"Rick" (sounded like adult black male) just called from that number.  He had our daughter's name, mumbled SAT prep and hung up.  This number calls several times a day.    We live in California.

New York Business System is a business equipment provider that has been in business for 28 years.  We are proudly serving the New York tri-state area as the "The Company You Can Trust!"

This problem was noticed by our receptionist starting this summer.  For some reason or another people called our office about school prep classes.  At first we were not aware of the seriousness of this situation.  New York Business Systems' toll free number has been somehow cloned by whoever is calling you.  We do sincerely appologize to any of you that has been target by this person/company.  New York Business Systems can confidently say that we have NO affiliation with who ever is doing this.  We are working with the phone companies to solve this problem.  New York Business Systems is working hard to resolve this problem but even the phone companies can not track who is doing this.  We will do everything we can to resolve this issue.

received a call from this number, saying my daughter expressed interest in their SAT training at career day.  He said he was shipping out the course for 60 days for review and started verifying my address.  I inturrupted him and said I didn't want him to ship anything before I spoke to my daughter.  I asked how much the course was, he said 199.95.  I asked the name of the company he said prep masters.  I asked if I could get his phone number and he said "no we'll call back" and hung up.

Just received the same kind of call as all the others reported.  Interesting though.....  we get these calls just around the time we've signed up or completed the ACT.  Where is the security breach coming from?  Our kids are just that, KIDS!!!  Their names are being taken from what is supposed to be a secure site. Think about it.....
