Called the office stating they wanted to talk about employee benefits. Caller gave her name as Trish with Scott Kent's office at ANA and this phone number with extension 3674. The call was screened so I did not talk to anyone, but now I will not return the call since seeing this Website. So sick of telemarketers!!

They won't be getting a fine because the Do Not Call List only applies to telemarketers. These people aren't telemarketers, they're market research.

I can tell you for certain it's not a scam. It really is just a research firm doing a survey, in this case it is for Kaiser Permanente. I know because I live in MN & I have friends who work there. The reason they called you at 7:30PM is because they probably called you during the evening shift which is from 5-11PM. The morning shift is from 9AM-5PM. The only reason they ask for any "personal info", which most likely was just an age and a zip code, was for classifying their data into categories. Nothing else. So please stop spreading lies about this company & just ask to be taken off their call list, which by the way market research firms are exempt from federal laws regarding business through telephone calls. Telemarketers are the one who by law must have you on their do not call list. This company is exempt from that law since this is not a telemarketing company and doesn't sell anything.

HIPPA does forbid a health care provider from acknowledging that you are in treatment and for what but it does not block Kaiser from acknowledging that you have insurance with them. By allowing a research company to do some research for them Kaiser has not violated HIPPA. If the information they gave the research company allowed the company to know you were receiving treatment for any particular condition or other information protected by HIPPA then it would be a violation. People get very frightened by HIPPA and at hospitals will say that they must deny that you are in the hospital if you are satying there but that is not the case. You can say that you can neither confirm or deny that anybody by that name is present and this meets the requirement of the law.

I have never heard of Kaiser Permanente. But the 651 number That calls me 2-3 times a day keeps tracing back to this company. I received a phone call from 651-486-7653, went all the way to my voicemail far enough into my voicemail to trigger my phone to tell me I had a voicemail, but no message left. As I was trying to listen to messages another voicemail came in from 888-709-9874. This time a voicemail was left, a male voice asking me to contact Isabelle Becker from the MN Dept of health at 888-709-9874. Needless to say the 888 # that was left does not belong to the MN Dept of health. You call the 888 # and it is a recorded message for Anderson ______ and associates (I couldn't catch the second word) and to leave a message.

Left a voice mail claiming to be the office of 'Hunter Smith' calling on behalf of Kaiser Permanente, left a callback number 888-709-9874 x259. Didn't seem right so I called the Kaiser office to ask about the call. Kaiser contacted the number and got no response and said to disregard calls from that number.

This number left a message:
" I'm calling on behalf of Kaiser Permanente were speaking with Kaiser Members regarding services. Please call us back at the office of Nate Sanders, that number is 1-888-709-9874 Ext. 710. Again please call the office of Nate Sanders and our number is 1-888-709-9874 and the extension would be 710."

Because I'm a Kaiser member I returned the call but at 4:15 PST they were closed and wanted me to leave a message. I hung up before the beep.  I don't believe the message and won't be calling back or taking the call -- and you shouldn't either.

Survey
Hi, it's me again!
I do try to check in once in a while, as it seems my previous messages don't always get read.
This number is for Anderson, Niebuhr & Associates, Inc.
Note: Our caller ID is programmed to display our name; however, all phone systems and ID systems do not always talk nicely to each other. Technology advances, so our name is displayed correctly in a much wider area than it was 20 years ago, but still it may default to "800 Service" or "Toll-Free Number" or some such, which are generic labels that may be applied when the machines aren't getting along.

Anderson-Niebuhr is an independent survey research firm in Minnesota, doing research for a variety of organizations, including healthcare, businesses, associations and non-profits, government agencies, colleges/education, manufacturing, and more. We survey customers, association members, patients, business professionals, students, community members, etc.
These are not telemarketing calls -- there will be no bait-and-switch fake survey to sell anything.
All survey responses provided are confidential and only reported in aggregate. (In very rare instances, we may ask for permission to share names to the client for follow-up, such as if there is a complaint, but only with permission.)
Additional information about the company is available on the website: ana-inc.com

Regarding HIPAA and Protected Health Information:
Health care organizations contract with us to do the research for them. In that essence, we are acting as an agent of the health care organization (the technical term is Business Associate per HIPAA). So, they may provide us with the necessary information to conduct the study on their behalf. We do not use the data for anything else -- it is securely delivered to the health care client. We destroy any Protected Health Information after the study is complete.

We will never ask for social security numbers, bank accounts, driver's license numbers, or the like.

Regarding contact names and no message:
We may use a "code name" to help direct people to the correct study. This is a quick way to find which of the dozens of studies is correct. Since we often have multiple surveys for an individual client, it makes it faster to have a name - they are easier to remember. Since only interviewers who have been trained on a specific study may conduct the interview, we need to direct the return call to an appropriate interviewer.
In that same vein, we don't always leave messages -- it could be for a variety of reasons: we might not be able to handle return call volume, we might be nearing a shift end, we might be nearing the closing of the survey, etc.

We also take the professionalism of our interviewing staff very seriously. If you experienced any issues with an interviewer, please contact me with the specific details.

As a research organization, we are exempt from Do Not Call list restrictions; however, we do not want to keep calling people who do not wish to participate in a study. If that is the case, simply ask to be removed from the study.
We do not keep a master database for our surveys either, so we do need to find the specific study a person was selected for.
That being said, it is possible that a person may be again selected for a different study at a later time.
We receive our lists of contact information from different sources, depending on the study. Sometimes our clients provide them, for example - customers, association members, patients. Other times, we purchase lists for the study from a list provider, like Experian or Dun & Bradstreet. We also may use random digit dialing -- usually just for surveys of a geographic area.
Sometimes we get names, phone numbers, sometimes not. Sometimes the lists are not very accurate and may have old or no contact names or bad phone numbers.
Any Craigslist postings are pure coincidence to a call from us. It would be grossly inefficient to collect numbers from there, as well as introducing sampling error to the data!

If you have other questions, please feel free to contact me.
Our office number is 800-678-5577 or 651-486-8712; our Call Center number (which is right down the hall from me) is 888-709-9874 or 651-486-7653 to reach a Supervisor.

Thank you.

This "Research" group put kaiser in the email like it was from them=scam, and then when I called kaiser, they said they did not hired them and said that it sounds very suspicious and to report it again if they send another email survey. When I hoovered my mouse over "From: Kaiser" it said "research@ana-inc.com". Isn't that fakinf someone's identity?

you sound like an idiot right now. most people cant determine the difference between a research firm AND a telemarketing business. yet they are so quit to open their mouths. it may be annoying at times, bu its useful information. surveys and giving your opinion is the best way to get points across. Im sure your the one not to reply w your opinion, but the first one to complain when things arent comfortable!! nothing wrong w giving ur opinion for a few mins. what do you have to lose, really? I say good job to the research firms nationwide because with out your hard work and research, we would be like that idiot up there!! stupid and ignorant standing on the side line!

Got a voice mail "on behalf of Anderson Neeber (something)" asking to speak with me (first name only), "the Office Manager".  Said they need to speak to the person who handles health insurance benefits for employees, and to call back & ask for "Stacy Novack".  She repeated the number and name twice. It sounded like Stacy Novack is some sort of code name because she wasn't Stacy & it wasn't "speak with", it was "ask for"....sounded odd to me.

I called them back after Googling "Anderson Neeber Stacy Novack".  Saw Anderson, Niebuhr & Associates is a legit research firm.  BUT when I called & asked for Stacy Novack, they transferred me to a phone bank operator (obvious background noise) who could not find me by company phone number or name, or my name.  Asked me to repeat the # several times.  Clicked away at a keyboard, mumbling "well.....hmmm....."    Asked if they gave me an extension to call. (no!)   Asked if I was in Southern California.  (yes)   Finally I asked HER what this was about & she said "well, I can't tell you until I find you in the system"  She clicked away some more & mumbled "isn't that strange?" then asked "do you know when they called you?"  (today)   I asked if I could leave a message for Stacy Novack & she said "I still have to find you in here first. Maybe someone else can help me find you & we can call you back"  Sounded like an old hag who's been smoking 5 packs a day for 30 years.  Very unprofessional.  I just said "OK......" and hung up.  WEIRD and a WASTE OF MY TIME.

Survey
I initially answered the call because I had the time and felt like messing with the proposed telemarketer (after all, who else would it be when the caller ID shows "toll free call"). Normally I don't bother to answer at all.

The individual on the other end of the line was polite, professional and courteous. He took the time to answer my questions prior to me saying I would let him ask his. He probably took 3-5 minutes answering my questions.

It was nothing but a survey. No sales pitch at all.

I hate getting these calls. This individual, not the company, made the difference between me actually providing my time vs. ignoring or messing with the individual. If anyone from that company reads these complaints, please note that it would be nice if you actually identified yourself with caller id than not.  Using what your using screams telemarketer or Scam vs. a survey.
