Got the same call as everyone else from "Amy". My answering machine took the call and saved the recording.

Let's all try this:

Call them back. When you get a live person on the line, tell them to please hold on for a second, there is someone at the door. Then go do something else for a while, watch TV, pay your bills, brush your teeth, what ever for a few minutes. Now go back to the phone and say hello. If they are still holding after all that time, now tell them that you have a caller on the other line. Go about your business for a few minutes then check again. If they are still there, have a good laugh at them and hang up or just keep doing it as long as you can. You are using up THEIR PRECIOUS TIME. That is the one thing they hate. Do this every day, several times a day if you can. Guess what, it WORKS!!! I did it and have NEVER heard from them again.

Please post your success stories here so we can all enjoy a little sweet revenge!

I got a call today from that number so I played along with them. THey ask you all sorts of questions about your mortgage-- (I gave them the house that I grew up in an moved away from 35 years ago) + other info. The lady then transfered me to another person which gave their number as: 888-908-4980 which, when I called, had the exact woman's voice as the 888-712-0491. I did have them send me info to an e-mail account which I rarely use. Are you ready for a LIVE PERSON you can talk and compalin to: MARIA: 888-541-2532 x 210 or her Direct E-Fax: 888-908-3853. Every once in a while you can play a GOTCHA to a telemarketer. And yes, I am on both a state and Federal No-Call List

They're almost certainly mortage scammers, as well as violators of the DNC list.

I just got a call from those clowns . My mortage was paid off 20 years ago, I don't have any credit debt, I'm free and clear! My caller ID had their number as blocked. I listened to the long sales pitch that was on my answering machine and they gave their phone number. Since those con-artists want to pester me, I decided to dial their number, wait for a "representative" to answer, and then I put them on hold and forget them. I hope they enjoy the inconvenience:)

Amen to that... and the female voice on the recording sounds suspiciously like the chick in the 1-800-GET-THIN ad campaign for Lap Band.  Those crooks are going down too, I heard.

These rabid robo-dialers have been calling me for at least a year.  Lately, it has been almost daily.  They use a variety of toll-free numbers, and never identify who they are regarding their "mortgage modification program."  I think the latest crackdown on do-not-call violators and the get tough legislation that just passed a few days ago is going to take care of these scammers.  Even though they use a US east coast address, the rabbit hole probably leads to Canada or beyond.  Hopefully the long arm of prosecution will reach the principles so they go down hard.

Received call from "Rachael."  Sounds as if she's from New York.  Claims she's working "with your bank."  Hoax.  Not working with my bank.  She leaves no organization name.

"Consumer Referral Agency" is a company that is not authorized to do business in California. They claimed they are part of a Federal Agency. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.

Operators are called Nancy,Jackie, Jen, Sara, Michelle, and one supervisor called 213789. Business address: 2802 Concord Pipe, Wilmington , Delaware , as per "Consumer Referral Agency".

They claim they have a do not call policy, but will not send it. Violation, Violation, Violation. They Robodial and claimed that my bank referred them. So the bank violated my privacy?

I received the same unsolicited call from "Consumer Referral Agency" in Delaware. They stated that my bank refferred my number. Wrong, my bank doesn't have my cell number. These dirtbags are cold dialing random numbers.  SUPER SCAM, beware.  I believed they are identity thieves.
Why would my bank want to save me money?

I'm checking this number out right now, but I am being careful not to condemn a them prematurely until I know for sure. So far I haven't found enough evidence against them.

I just got a phone call from someone named "Rachel" stating that she was working with "my bank" to help with my home loan modification, and that I need to call her "right away" at this number.  This is obviously a scam as I don't have a home loan, but I can see how they can prey upon people who are desperate.  I just wish someone would shut them down.
