Hey

I came across your resume and think you would be great asset to our company.  The position, with a base pay of $18+ an hour.

I'd like to schedule a phone interview tomorrow.

In light of the issues facing our industry we are taking a selective approach to final approval.

Prior to your phone interview we ask you to complete the following:

1.) Let us know a little bit more about yourself, any additional background information that you feel we should know. Please include your phone number.

2.) The best time for us to hold the interview. Morning (9-11am) or evening (2-5pm)

3.) We REQUIRE all applicants to have a credit report on hand prior to the interview.

Please note: Your credit score is not relevant, it is only used to verify your details.  The report allows us to verify your legal US citizenship and employment history.  It also provides us with a confirmation of address.  DO NOT email us this info, we will ask you to fax it during your phone interview.

Please click this link to use our free provider:
www.accu-corp.com/applicant/

This position is going to fill fast, we hope to hear from you soon.

I received the same E-mail. As soon as the person( no name just Accu corp) said they REQUIRE my credit report I knew this was not a good thing. I tried to find the company on the internet and came up with this site. THANK YOU to every one who posted their experience to help others. We are all so anxious to find a job we must not let our guard down.

Hi all,  I got the same message that you all did this morning from a Craigslisting post!  I am so happy to have found this thread so as not to have wasted my time with them, not to mention possibly something seriously worse.  Red flags totally went up with the mention of filling out credit information.  Good job guys and best wishes in your job searches.

I also received the same email and like many of you thought it was suspicious so I of course had to do a search and ended up here. :)
Thank you all for posting this info an confirming my suspicion.

I wish we could arrest these scammers. It's just ridiculous that they are even allowed to do this sort of thing. We are honest people searching for honest legitimate jobs and these people have to ruin that for us and make us leery of even putting our information out in the first place.

I wish everyone the best of luck.

I think you just brought up some interesting and similar to email i received and i think it's for a job that i apply/contact via craig list [i think].

i did not realize it's from them -- due to i do not remember that craig list have their company name on the craig list.

i hope craig list will catch them and block them from post on craig list again.  plus catch and block other scammers too.

it's rediculous [spell?] and terrible that they take advantage of people at their weakness and weak stage.

they put my first name and no last name and no title.  When I took classes at my college -- the way they do this is non-professional or something like that.

I do not like when people scam people when they are volunable [spell?], weak, ... .  This Data Gateway is an example of it -- I think.  It's really unfortunate--to say it gently.

They are stating that they wanted to Interview me, but I had to fill out a credit report first and then send them the confirmation numbers.

It was from a Marque Priddy.
Supposedly they want to Interview me tomorrow at 10:00 am
Both receptionists said all personnel works remotely and they were all Asian decent which could hardly understand what I was saying.

However, I was able to bring up a web site tonight but not during the day.
They referred me to the Free Credit Report site etc.

Here is part of the e-mails that were sent:

Hi there!

We reviewed your resume at http://meadville.craigslist.org/res/1435992270.html and are pleased to let you know that we have a few openings available! Our base pay starts at $18.00/hour with payment increases up to $35/hour plus commission.

Our HR would like to call you tomorrow to setup your interview.

IMPORTANT: Due to the financial data you may come across working with us we require all applicants who have reached this stage to complete a credit check.

You MUST complete your credit check before the scheduled interview. We have arranged a free service for you:
http://www.accu-corp.com/tracking202/redirect ... @craigslist.org

After you have filled out the credit check, please give us a call so we can setup your phone interview:
888-820-1933

We look forward to welcoming you to the Data Gateway Team!

Best Regards,
Data Gateway Team

I gave them the confirmation number but not a valid credit card.

In response to a Craigslist job listing I replied to on 2-Oct-2009.  I made the call but while I was waiting for "the next available operator" (this should have been a clue) I put the following words in my search engine: Data Gateway Scam and was lead to this site.  As soon as I saw these posts I hung up and searched for the original ad to report it.  The job listing has already been pulled.

Thank you all for posting this, it is clearly a scam.

Happy Job Hunting,

Still Desperate

Yup, i got the exact same email message too, in response to my reply to a Craiglist job listing.

It was clearly too sketchy of an email to have been sent by any legit HR dept.

Thanks for confirming what I already suspected.

Steer clear.

I also received the same email today.....I haven't called....busy digging up any information and if they are ligit.

I'm sure that everyone else here that received this email is sure to have this same message at the very bottom of their email:
(I noticed in the reply above that the address is similar but different)
READS:
""This message was sent from Data Gateway to ******.*****@mchsi.com. It was sent from: Erik Amistead, 4000 Main Street, South Bend, IN 46601. You can modify/update your subscription via the link below.""

No company came up under this address either...uummmm! I wonder how many people are going to get trapped or sucked in....if this is a scam.....There sure are alot of people out there desparate for a job.
