I received a call from 520-457-5805 stating that a civil complaint has been filed against me for a breech of contract??

I got a call at WORK stating that someone had a civil suit against me and they wanted payment. The guy even told me the last 4 digits of my SS# I would like to know who this is, because I could not understand their language very well.

These guys were proffessional,I Paid them i recieved all necessary paper work.

I agree with what others are saying about asking to deal with them via mail. I also want to urge all of you to deal directly with the loan agency you borrowed from, because those are the people you owe, not the collection agency. Also, most collection agencies (like this one) get old information from places and try to scam people into repaying a loan that they have already paid off. Companies like this get their information (like your social security numbers) by doing things such as "buying" your loan and taking all your information, and usually they don't just call you, but they call the references you listed when taking out that loan (for example, one person said that they called her ex-husband, i'm guessing that he was either one of your references or you took out that loan while you married to him) They cannot arrest you for not taking "immediate action" so do not let that tactic scare you. Also, if you decide to call them back, DO NOT verify your social security number (this is practically giving them access to your past and present life. When you do ask for someone, either ask for their address or ask if you can deal with them via mail, because legitimate places will gladly do this, sketchy places will get rude with you or ask you why you need that information, if this is the case, you need not deal with them at all. So summing up my long entry, just deal directly with the agency of which you got the loan, never verify your social security number, and please do not send them any money. I hope I helped!

PS. the agency is Hagulworth SB&J based in New York, but most of the time they trick your caller IDs into thinking they're from somewhere else, another reported number for this agency (which was fake) was 678-298-9297

how about u people stop trying to find a way to get out of ur date nd pay ur bills it's as simple as that

you should have called the original debtor and worked out a deal with them.  garnishing your wages is illegal without proper court action.  if you REALLY dont work for the agency and are putting bad advice out there you might want to check with budd hibbs on helping you get the judgement vacated and get them out of your pocket.  i suspect you work for these people and are trying to scare others into following your advice.

I Got a Call From This Guy Mr. Harris and they sent wage garnishment forms to my job after it went thru my county clerks office i just ignored it i thought you know screw this collection company but there not a collection company they work for a group of attorneys that can sue you and ddo wage garnishments without actually sending anything to court. so i wld advise that if you owe money to these guys just pay ur debt maybe if your nice they might offer you a settlement. you dont have to take my advice but i did my research and whether or not you pay them you will pay so why not work with them i wish i did.

Your lawyer needs to be schooled.  Once again you do not owe money to a credit collections agency you owe it to the original debtor.  If your lawyer was really good they would have done all the work to negotiate and bargin for you.   Sounds like you work for the collections agency.

i had a file in their office and they were actually very helpful w/ giving a great settlement offer, and i know i owed the debt but ddnt hve the money to pay it off at the time but now i can get rid off all the harassment collection calls... i need all my debt to go to their office!!!!

I had my Lawyer check out the complaint, and he said they can sue, if you take out a payday loan an give up ur routing an account number,then dont pay cause of NSF or closed account its like stealing. try and talk them down on theamount i did for half

I encourage everyone that Hauglworth has called and said they are calling because of a civil suite to go online and get a lawyer and sue them.  Trust me it has been done recently and they paid up.  It is a blatant violation for them to misrepresent that they have filed a lawsuite against you.  I think the recent settlement they had to pay is the reason they have changed their language to "a matter against his/her name and SS#".  You can stop them, do not speak to them and let them keep violating the FDCPA.

They are trying to collect for something for like 10x the amount. A lawyer told me you have to be very careful in what you say to them watch your p's and q's. Nasty and threatening people

If they threaten you with bank fraud (know what the term means) C&D them immediatly and check on your states statute o limitations.  They are calling me about a SOL run payday loan from 3 years ago so no case can be filed in my state.  This was paid in full and I had one problem with a collection company once afterwards and actually sent them the payment info.  Remember the burden of proof is on them to prove
A.  You owe the debt to them (you don't you owe it to the original creditor)
B.  If they bought the debt they must provide receipts of how much they paid, be assured it was not what you aallegedly owe and they must provide a validation of debt to you within 15 days.

Send all mail via return recipt and I always send it UPS/FEDX/or any process involving tracking and signing for delivery.

This company has to be a scam, I have been divorced from my ex husband for over 20 years and they called his number in another state leaving messages for me, I am remarried and have been for quiet a few years now. How did they get my ex phone number and what is this about legal matters because I have no clue? If anyone knows who this company is please respond.

These people are calling my work and leaving messages similiar to the ones others have posted.  I have read in Indiana it is illegal for any debt collector to leave detailed messages with third parties.  This place(still dont' know who it is and have NOT received anything in writing)has left several messages stating there is a civil case against my social security number and I need to call back immediately.
