It's the former number of the TV Show Blind Date from who knows how long ago.
I thought the postcard looked familiar, so I too looked it up on google. Received a similar card from same company several years ago.
I just got one in Clarksville, TN. My birthday was three days ago... I figured it was a scam because of the no return address and not knowing who sent it. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!
Well, they are still at it. I see posts as far back as 2009 & I just got my post card today. They've listed a new number 1-888-866-9180 to call. This smart chick is taking it to the shredder. Thanks too all who took the time to post about this scam.
I don't know about this company EWS (I got a postcard too) but as far as rainsoft goes it is a great company! I got my rainsoft system straight from them and it has saved me money! So i don't know how they are assoc. with EWS and why they would send me one of these (repeatedly) if I am already a customer of rainsoft.
Just filed a complaint with the BBB and hope to save some people the agony of having to go though all this, as we received the post card after receiving an e-mail indicating a parcel was waiting. NOT TRUE, and yes 'annoyed in Pleasant View', we are annoyed in White House also!
One complaint web-site I use frequently is www.callercomplaint.com. I have filled numerous #'s and in this case the number on the card and the number at the top of 800 notes.
PS: We received an e-mail as well as the card. We ARE NOT responding to this parcel scam.
annoyed in Pleasant View
I received the same card as the others except the number is 888-478-2768. I called the number and got a voice message stating they were in office of ews but away from the phone.
Just got the same post card from EWS today on October 30, 2012 and the phone number was different as well. 1 888 866 9180 was the number they provided for a package that I was expecting. I am waiting on new tires for my car and assumed they couldn't deliver the large package and needed me to drive to Nashville to receive it. From Clarksville, it's not too far, but definitely out of the way for a package. I called the number and was told it was a water conditioner company and they told me that I could get a water tech out to my house to do a water test. I had to deal with another company doing the whole water softner thing before, so I told them not to even bother.
EWS sent 2 cards to Chapel Hill address today. New phone number 1-888-866-9180. I had no phone call.
I received this in the mail as well.
Dave Ramsey is owner of Financial Peace University and Terry Deselms is in real estate I do believe....I find it hard to believe they are behind this...I too just recieved the post card..and am not responding to it.
I just received one today control # fbw0510-289 thanks for the info ...trashing the card I'm in White House TN
They are still at it in the Spring Hill, TN area and this is 05/2012
Postcard received this week from EWS with a control number and the #1-888-866-9180, claiming they have a parcel delivery for me. I don't know of anything it could be, concerned it may be a scam.
Like one of those below, no phone call but a post card with "we have a parce delivery for you" on it. No address or source other than EWS, a control number and phone number 1.888.866.9180. Hard copy spam if you ask me.
Jill in Nashville
Just got the same postcard on 3/30/12. I see they are still at it. Mine also had a their new phone number 888-866-9180.
This is not a company owned by or affiliated with Dave Ramsey or Terry Deselms. You are wrong, it happens sometimes.
I got the same postcard. It is just after Christmas, so I thought someone had sent something. When I called and got a message to give my name and number, I hung up. I'm also in mid TN. Her's a note: They have a NEW PHONE NUMBER listed.
It is 1-888-866-9180
Same card different number....1-888-498-6873
This is a bogus post card, don't call or this company can telemarket to you for up to a year in TN (so I hear)! Read this news story:http://www.wsmv.com/story/14787110/companys-m ... -them-3-08-2010
The one I received today showed the phone number to be 1-888-498-6873, with the same weird logo with people in blue outfits and the letters EWS on top of the post card. I'm glad I had the information here to find out it was a scam before I bothered calling them. Hopefully, having this phone number will help compile a list of numbers to avoid.
no call just recieved a card claiming to have a parcel- with a control number CFBW0827-89 (LAST TWO NUMBERS PENCILED IN). Company name EWS with a picture of five people, sorry we missed you open from monday-saturday.
got a post card with like the rest have with. Sorry We Missed You We Have a Parcel for you. control number #FBW0927C- (368 in pen)
same deal with the postcard. I called after hours and got a voicemail asking to leave the number on the card and my full name and phone number.
Same deal with postcard& pened in last #s
Same as others, postcard in mail. I'll check other sites for more info. If I find something definitive, I'll return and post here.
Got the same postcard in the mail stating that they had a parcel for our address - since my husband is expected a package from his company I called the number 888-727-2350 and got a recorded message saying they were away from the desk or on another line and to leave the control # on the card & our name and phone #. I did - and now I have decided to check on-line for the phone number. Duh, I should've checked BEFORE calling. Got to be a scam. Really irritating that these people can't be prosecuted for something.
Same deal, post card with number. I'm not going to call.
I got the same card in Spring Hill, TN on 3/27/08. When I called the number, I got a voicemail. It's really irritating.
