this number calls n never leaves a message...sometimes at 8 p.m. the phone will ring it will be them....I don't answer 800 or 888 numbers I don't want to buy anything if I did than I would go looking for it myself..

I just today got my first call from 888-733-1288 on my cell phone.
I don't answer numbers I don't know. So I didn't
Answer them. I have already had enough of this
On my home phone. It just got so bad I have let
Answering machine get all my calls. And I have no peace
For the phone ringing.
If it was from places that I owe I could talk to them
Maybe and solve a problem.
But other people just list me as a reference when they
Apply and get things. Then when they don't pay
I get the harrasment. This is not fair. Because I didn't tell
Them to give my number. I have talked to several and
Explained that to them ask them to stop. I don't even know
How reach some these people myself.
They say they can't stop calling because its the number given to them.
If anybody knows what can be done to stop this kind thing
Please let me know. Now I don't want them starting on my
Cell phone number. Please advise if you know
How stop these harassing people.

Last week I got a new number from a VOIP provider.  Within the first 8 days I got 31 calls from various collection agencies, this one among them. I document each call (in a Word Document).  I get the caller's name and the company name, once I have this information, I explain that this is a new number, and that I don't know the person they are seeking.  I note that according to our state laws, once they receive this notification they have 48 hours to desist, otherwise they are in violation of our state laws.  Two of the agencies called back, and I asked to speak to the supervisor  -one hung up on me, but I called back. I explained to the supervisor that with this subsequent call they are now in violation of the state law.  The supervisor said she removed me from the database, but I did go ahead and file complaints with the state for these two subsequent calls from two different collection agencies.  These efforts have had the effect of quieting my phone.

Keep calling but will not leave message or answer when phone is picked up.

They call me all the time. They are a debt collector, URS or United Recovery System. I don't owe them anything any more, but they still call anyway. Maybe they just like the sound of my voice. I have assembled a list of the numbers they have used to call my cell phone, and my husband's cell phone. Here ya go!

Don't trust URS for anything. They are bottom feeders. They use abusive language and will harass you at every turn.

Since January of 2009 they have had 26 lawsuits filed against them. Since August 2008 that number jumps up to 38 lawsuits filed against them. Most of these lawsuits are for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Then in 2004 they were fined $240,000 for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This company breaks the law regardless of what happens, they don't care about our rights.

My advice send a Cease and Desist letter now. And when they violate that sue them. You can get up to $1000 for every violation.

This number called me asking for one of my friend's...I told them they had the wrong number, but how did they put one of my friend's full name with my phone number?

Call during peak hours

I'm a public school teacher and they called my school extension during the day while I was teaching. They were looking for my brother in law in Iowa....I live in Florida. I was stupid and didn't ask what they needed and gave them my wife's cell....big mistake! I can't believe they would call my school extension...when i'm not related to the guy!

This United Collections has been calling several times a day - 7 days a week - they must never rest.  I've been getting calls from all the numbers posted here. After finding this site, at least I know who is calling.  Too bad they're wasting their time - I don't have anything in collections. I've just quit answering - doesn't do any good to tell them they have the wrong no, so I check my caller ID any don't answer any 800, 888, 866, or any othr area code I don't recognize.  Don't know what else to do.

Believe it to be a collection agency,

I get 4-5 calls a day and I have asked them not to call...and the guy asked if I was nuts and would call me everyday all day-and would call my family.

This number also comes from 866-891-6936, out of texas United Collections Agency, They try to be sneaky and call from this number after you hang up on them.
