I got a call from these people, saying I was going to be charged on three different counts, and I would be locked up because I owe on an old debt. First of all, debt is a civil matter, and not a criminal matter, unless you have knowingly committed fraud. You can not be arrested for owing money on any kind of a loan, or if you have credit card debt. DO NOT VERIFY ANY OF YOUR INFO WITH THESE PEOPLE, AND DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY !!

They called a magic jack plus number we have at a cabin for long distance calls.  The message is "This is the summons department with drake mckannon attorneys regarding a complaint through your county and you need to call 855-217-9288 to review all voluntary options".  We have never had this number listed for any bill or account and bought it new a few years ago from Radio Shack.  It is Friday late evening, so I can't do much over the weekend, but I am going to check with my "county" and see if there is anything.  My "county" has my regular address, email & phone as we pay TPT (lodging) tax for short term renter guests and follow all legal requirements to the county.  My cabin utilities, etc... is all with our regular address and number.  In the message, they didn't say a name, county name or anything.  Really weird and sounds really fake.  After checking their website and reading this one, it sounds like a scam.  We have never had a payday loan and our credit is excellent through hard work and luck having medical and computer jobs that are stable in hard times.  We have been paycheck to paycheck before and I was lucky to be able to borrow from a family member for that unfortunate car fix, but for people here worried about a real debt, please contact them directly or your bankruptcy attorney or your local authorities, because this is garbage and the crooks are getting more crafty.  Got a call from a government rebate solar program on my regular phone today and while on the phone I checked the real gov site and info via google.  The guy was surprised and stumbled when I said I was on the legit site and there was no active program in our state right now.  It expired in 2011.lol  He promptly got off the phone with me, didn't even want to send me an email with info to read up, but wanted my full name and home address which he didn't get.  Kept saying "I am not going to ask you for your social security info or your mothers maiden name".  There is much they can fish for.  Don't give any info to any calls.  Even had a Verizon scam call and when I called the Verizon directly they told me my account was fine and that was a scam.  Unbelievable.  They are getting smarter.  BEWARE any fishing calls.  It's FAKE.

Other numbers for Drake's scam are 888-255-6597 and 855-217-9288 which is the contact # on the Drake and McKannon fake website.  Do not return calls from these numbers. Do not give them your name, address or any info.  SCAM!!  See posts under these other numbers.

They have access to a federal database. That is how they got your sisters number. Their website says they are skip tracers but I don't know if that gives them access to a federal data base. It may be an inside job.

When I Googled the company all i got back was a crappy website that looks like it was designed in 1996, and this thread right here. I wonder how much money Drake and McStealin spends with organizations like Reputation Defender and other online reputation management companies to have the complaints removed about them??????

Your company is fake....asked for a detailed bill and explanation of the cahrges, you couldn't provide either. You kept referring the to the company I owed money to by their old name, they have since been bought by another company and operate under a different name. Nothing about your company is legal or legit. You talk about deadbeats not paying their bills? How about crooks who steal from people? A***oles.....

Got a text... "Pre-Trial notification" and requested I call a number concerning this complaint. That was in Nov. Today I received another text with a different complaint number as well as a different law firm MCG Legal Services. Both came from the same number 702-601-3506, but left 2 different call back numbers. 888-734-6016 (Nov) and 888-914-8766 (today).   Argh! confused %(

I filed a complaint against this company with my state?s AG.  The AG got back to me last week that this company is 100% a scam.

They called looking for someone who I've never heard of. I explained this to the person who showed up on my caller ID. He said he would take care of it with "the investigators." Within 3 minutes I received a phone call from 801-823-2023 threatening something about me being served, lawsuits, etc. and gave me some reference number and a telephone number. I called the number given to me with the reference number, and some rude man started verbally abusing me. I tried explaining that I am not whoever they are looking for and wanted to know why they were calling me. I got irritated and hung up. He then called me back and started asking more questions! I will be taking action against Drake and McKannon.

I received a call telling me that I owed attorney fees in the amount of over 1000.00.  They said they were going to file a claim and let the a judge decided when I questioned what this was in reference to and requested additional documentation.  I believe it is a fraud.  I did take a payday l;oan out with the company they referenced but have paid it all back in full so I agree this is definately a scam.

Do Not send these people your money!!! any company that is truly trying to collect a legitimate debt would never text you!!!

Just because people fault on debt does NOT give the right for scammers or debt collectors to harass them. People fall on hard times without fault of their own, they lose jobs and or spouses. until u go through something like that u have no idea how hard it is to get out of that situation! Who r u all to judge?!? Try to be more sympathetic, less judgementsl and stop assuming that debt collection calls are due to people just not wanting to pay!
