These people are buying bad debts and trying to collect on them. They bought a debt that my husband and I had written off in a bankruptcy. Dont know how they got it. Called his mom and tried bullying her into paying it telling her that her son was going to prison. They tried getting her debit card number, etc.
I work for attorneys and as soon as I talked to them I knew they were scam artists. If you pay on a debt that has been written off you re-activate it and they can collect the whole thing. DO NOT PAY THEM A DIME. Call the Attorney General in NY and let them know about how they are contacting you and threatening you. NOT ALLOWED.
I got rid of them about a year ago, now they are calling my sister-in-law about the same debt. Trying a new tactic. I am calling the AG in New York on them and reporting them this time. Good Luck

This just a bill collecting agency trying to scare you into paying.

I can't believe my luck. A week before christmas and I have another bill to pay. Spoke with a Ms. Taylor yesterday and again this morning. The timing could not be worse. At least I was offered a settlement over a couple months.

hi, happy new year. i have been tricked into a payment arrangement with these people, they would not send me or my husband anything in print would not let me send payments through the mail only through me checking account electroniclly, they bullied both of us , called my mother and my place of work, my boss callled the police on them, they were verbal abusive to myself and my husband and my bosses. i am at my wits end with this i have been paying since july because i was scared. i want to stop paments to these people because they wont give printed information on what we are supposed to owe the people we owe money to,i need more than my money taken out of my checking account and voice on the phone telling me what i still owe. i need printed imformation, they will not give. thank you lisa and jerald westphall

I recieved a phone call last night from a Derrick Spencer from this company as well. I spoke to my financial advisor and was told to NOT do anything until something was recieved in writing. He then proceeded to call my mother who lives in a different state and threaten her telling her i've ignored letters sent to me. I have received no such letters and I was given NO information other than he was ready to file papers to my county. I have no idea what this is for or why or how much.
I'm sending a certified letter today and hopefully i'll get something back in writing. I am also keeping track of EVERYTHING.

I also live in Arkansas, I am awaiting a call back from my attorney and I am hoping to file a suit against them, we should all team up. I did record the last call from them and I have them in at least 3 lies so far on tape.

Please help someone, these people are calling me several times a day. They told me they had filed suit and asked me if i had received the summons to appear. I had not so i told them I had not. Then i called the court house and there is no suit against me. Now they are calling my children and family members and telling them they need to talk to me about a pending law suit... (which is a lie). I can't get them to stop.
Any suggestions
Thanks
Prush

This company has been harrassing my Facebook friends! They are going down my list of FB friends and somehow finding THEIR contact numbers and calling them several times each day leaving messages saying I listed them as a reference (never in a million years is this even close to being true) and that if I am not contacted to pay up right away I will go to jail!!!! What can I do about this besides reporting them to BBB, FTC?????

I just received a call from them today. I have recently moved from NC to AR and a search of the states listing of licensed debt collectors does not list Goldman Roth. How should I proceed? Just send a DV letter?

Dear {insert name of collector or company},
I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state).
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
Because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
You do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA.
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

This is just a bill collecting agency that is trying to scare you into paying. See post above about state laws and their fraudulent claims of filing a law suit and being a lawyer. You do have recourse.

Mark Stover called me about my providian credit card. The current balance was ridiculous. It was a 1500 credit line and now becuase of interest it was over 3000.00!!!! I told him there was no way I was paying that at all. He said that he could not help me with a lower amount but transferred me to the settlement department. My husband talked to someone in the settlement dept. and they agreed to settle for 1800.00. I'm mad that I had to be transferred a couple times to get results but at least in the end it didnt cost me that much. A word of advice, get transferred to the settlement dept if you wanna save money. They will settle for almost exactly what the credit line was.

Message from Ms. Salazar. Called her back and she was very blunt. I guess some people get right to the point, and that point was a debt that is going to cost me. She had my work # and I told her to not to call it. So far so good.

Call from David Russo. Was shocked about how long its been since I've heard about this account. In the process of working out a reasonable settlement. Wish me luck.
