I have no student loans and no unpaid debts and for anyone interested there are laws governing the collection practices of debt collectors. Try looking up FDCPA laws or fair debt collection practices act. Or write a Cease and Desist is a letter you can wrrite requesting all correspondence be in writing and the calls should stop.

I have a call come to a relative asking for a name I no longer use.  The call comes as "Unknown Name" on caller id but reverse look up says it is a collection agency known as Premier with a history of discreditable activity.
Reported to President Obama of credit collection agencies that write to you with disclaimer that they have to credit their account if payment is made to any company except theirs.
If the Education Department of the United States government can't hire the persons to do a creditable job then why use the less trusted companies????

Got a call from these Bozos this morning asking for a Richard. I just let them all have it now with as many expletives that I can come up with to tell them what scumbags they are and how I hate them. The guy never got another word in. I am sick of this crap which has been going on now for about 5 years and I've changed the number 3 times. Constant hangup calls or looking for all the wrong people. This harassment has got to stop.

This company is weird. They continue to try to collect on a student loan that is not in default. On my Sallie Mae website account it shows the exact same account numbers and amount and claims that it is deferred until 2014. However, this debt collection company claims that it is garnishable. I called them and wrote them and all they want to do is for me to send them in info about my regular earnings amount. Yeah good luck with that. I think I'm going to trust what the original lender is stating until they prove otherwise.

Just saying....after reading the above responses....it could be that you are receiving these calls for the same reason I am, because someone else put your name and number on their loan application as a reference. The funny thing is, there is a huge custody battle going on with this family member and since she is an addict and has been arrested several times for drug issues, I testified against her in court and she said then that she considered me "estranged" and not a part of her family yet lists me as a reference.  Desperate and sad.

I just got a call from this number. They were looking for a relative of mine. I asked them how they got my number and they said that I was listed as a family contact. GREAT. I never gave this family member permission to use me as a reference or anything. I do know this family member has horrible financial issues and has student loan debt so I'm guessing they are calling me to get to her because of that. NOT HAPPY that they tracked me down and are bothering me when it is not my debt and I didn't give permission to be used as a reference. Excuse me while I track down this family member and tell them the same thing, just in not-so-nice of terms.

Well, I received a call from this place, looking for someone named Davin that has the same last name as me. I had no idea that they called until I checked my voice mail. I called my places that I have my student loans through and I know I am up to date. I'll be giving them a call on Monday and get this straighten out. They are probably calling anyone with the same last name looking for this person.

I have received two calls from this number. the first was just a message that I needed to call the number back. The second call (6 hours later) the woman said she was looking for "Fernadad 22" a internet call sign. I responded by telling her that she had the wrong number. She then asked if I knew Fernadad 22, I told her no, I don't know Fernadad. She then asked if I would give Fenadad 22 a message, I told her if I don't know fernadad I can not give him a message.  then I hung up.
Pecullar call to say the least.

I traced this # back to one source. Not 100% sure it is this company doing it but somewhere in the mix they are. I purchased a no contract cell phone back in Nov 2012. The ONLY person that has my # is my wife. The reason we purchased the phone was because my current cell phone was a company cell phone . And I  found out my work is downsizing in Jan or mid Feb and no one was 100% sure that they where not being layed off. So I started looking for a job just in case I was let go. I found a company in Central Florida called KIK Custom products in Auburndale. I went in and picked up an application and filled it out and returned itthe next day to a Mr Johnston. This was the only Application I filled out and put my cell #  on it I put my cell # to the phone I purchased. ( I did this just in case I was let go because I would have to return the company cell phone) Well The next Monday the layoffs came and I was not effected except now I have a bigger work load on my desk. By Friday my cell was ringing off the hook. From 1888-744-2602 and a couple marked private #s plus 800-437-9392.... 800-862-5962...713-568-4554....413-944-0395.. Before this my phone did not ring at all unless my wife called it . I trashed the phone . So I belive this Company or this Mr Johnston is somehow involved. I called our IT department to ask how to block #'s on a cell phone. I gave them the list and they said you can go onto the website for your carrier and go into your account and add them to a block caller list (not sure if every cell company has this option) I was also told that some companies actually sell your cell or phone #s and emails  to spammers. It is sad that someone would do this from job applications. it is bad enough that you are out of work now you have to deal with unwanted calls all day.

I'm not sure why I got a call at 9:23 am on 12/29 since I have no student debt. I wonder if this is one of those cases where people gave out our number or someone misdialed. I never talked to these people and no name was given on the answering machine.

Wow!!!....looking at these responses!!!!......I think there are some good points made here by most of you!
but, I think the initial frustrations with Bill Collectors are they fail to see and/or treat People as Human Beings who are behind in debt. Now we all know there are some who could care less about paying their obligations!!!.....but I am sure that this is about maybe 8% of those in debt. Some have ht hard times, due to Medical, Loss of Job, Higher Taxes Lower Earnings...etc...etc. Or just plain bad Planning and let's not forget such items as Divorce, child support from the group of things that "I DID NOT WISH FOR MY LIFE TO BE LIKE THIS" list.

Remember, chances are the person on the other end of the phone communicating all the threats to you about lawsuits and credit reports is a low wage earner, who is trying to make money just to get by!

But YOU DO HAVE RIGHTS!!....As Defined under various Federal and state laws regarding your debts and the actions of collection agencies attempting to recover such debts. Take some time to learn and view Your RIGHTS....The Last agency that called me about a $265.00 bill got SUED FOR $3,000 for violating my rights. So...NO MATTER HOW MUCH DEBT YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF IN.....LEARN YOUR RIGHTS AND USE THEM!!!....Start by reading the "TRUTH AND FAIR CREDIT LENDING ACT" and Good luck to you ALL!

I keep getting calls on my cell phone from an unknown number that say, "Please hold the line for important information" and then I hold, because I want to get a real person to tell them to take my number off the list, but eventually the line just goes dead. Since the number is unknown, I can't say with certainty that it is this company, but I get the same exact message other people are getting. This has happen yesterday and today, and a couple times in the last 3 months here and there.

A "Sherry" called for someone I haven't seen for over a year. This "Sherry" usually calls from this number first (317-322-3614)  then says this is a private matter, this is a debt collection call(Premier Productions). She then directs you to call (888-744-2602) She also directs you to call the 888 no.if you are not the person they asked for to be taken off the "list".Get a life Sherry,do you think I'm stupid enough to call you so you can pump me for info.NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

I've been getting calls from these people for months now. They call my house sometimes in excess of 5 times a day! Some times they actually sit silently on the phone when I answer and then hang up without saying a word. (I was told this is for a voice recognition system the collection agencies use now so they can determine the stress tones in your voice to confirm it is infact most likely you when you tell them they have the wrong number) Sometimes they will hang up after only 2 rings. When I do answer the phone for the 5th time, the person will ask for me by name, then ask me to verify all kinds of personal information. I refuse to give my information and they start saying that they know its me and I need to confirm the information. I know I owe a student loan. Who doesn't nowadays? I'm unemployed and have 3 children to take care of. I can't give money to something if I don't have the money to give. I've pleaded with this company to stop calling me and that I would resume my monthly payments when I was able to find employment and get bck on my feet. She told me tht they have assessed a $1200 collection fee on top of the $4000 I still owe on the loan! Seriously!? At this point, I can't imgagine how people can ever pay them off when they assess fees of almost 1/3 of the loan. At first she asked me to make a commitment of $300 a month. Then it was $200/month. When I still couldn't do that, it was $125/month. I told her I couldn't even afford that right now not working and she went all the way down to $125 down and $50 a month! Well if they can do that, why tell me initially $300.month when I tell you I'm unemployed? Bill collectors....ugh!

I got what was probably my first of many calls to come from these Azz-wipes a few days ago. They can call me all they want, all day, all night, and in between. If no one else over the last TWENTY phuqing years has been able to squeeze a drop out've me, they need to think twice if they fantasize that they CAN, LOLOLOLOLOL.

I only use my landline for calling out as no one I know has THIS particular number, so they can call it and talk to the answering machine all they want. LOLOLOL. I am very cautious, one thing I never do on that line is dial any toll free number, ever. Even if you have an unlisted landline, the laws of the spammers and advertisers and the rest of the evil world override your rights to privacy and your UNLISTED number shows up on their screens when you ring them, food for thought people. If you PAY your provider for an unlisted or blocked number, your rights to privacy should apply across the board, period.

They called me on my office phone and left a message saying that they were a debt collector and were calling in regards to a default on my student loan. The lady who left a message was named Jess, the extension she left was 203. I called the number and told them my reference ID and the guy who answered asked me if I was calling from the phone they called me on and I said no. He asked me to confirm the phone number they called me on and I did. He seemed confused and took a while to figure out who/what I had gotten the message from/about. Then he said he would transfer me to the person who left me the message - it was a man...not Jess. This guy sounded flustered and weird and confused. Asked me to confirm my name, which I did. Asked me to confirm my birthdate - the one they asked me to confirm wasn't my birthdate. They wanted to confirm the city I lived in which was also incorrect. They asked if the last 4 of my social was:xxxx and that too was incorrect. They never actually stated the purpose of their inquiry. They said they left a message with my HR rep to confirm whether I was or was not who I said I wasn't. It was just weird. I called my education loan servicer and they said nothing was in default or past due.
