I just got one myself. I looked it up and asked around (even called my credit union directly) and it is a SCAM! When you call the number it asks for you credit card number, which a credit union would never ask right off the bat. Don't fall for it.

I got a text message saying that I had a security message from my credit union and to call this number. I called and they said there had been several attempts to use my card from India and that I needed to verify that I was still in possession of my card and to enter my 16 digit number. I of course did not and immediately googled the number. There are about 60 messages on 800Notes about the SCAM. Any that mentioned a carrier or a location were on T-Mobile phones in Colorado which is exactly my situation. I called and reported it to T-Mobile.

Just got this 10 mins ago. Tmobile, Google G1, Colorado.
I actually went and called it, and it did ask for your credit card number. Too bad I don't have a credit union account or a credit card.
I'm sorry for those of you who have to pay for this waste of bandwidth/text message. But I have unlimited. ;)

Yep me too , I also live in Colorado. These web sites are great to check on these numbers, I appreciate who ever thought of making a site like this so we can comminucate. Mine was a Credit Union message to. I didn't respond to it because it was almost 8pm and my Credit Union doesn't have my cell number.

I have T-Mobile and recd a text message that says "You have a new Credit Union security message. Call now toll free 1888-749-1834 to hear it." Banks or credit unions do not contact clients to verify information. This is bogus.
annoyed 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
I too am receiving these messages from 2 different numbers. I have not called the number & do not know how they got mine. I suspected it was a scam since if it were really from my credit union they'd have called & left a message, as they've done in the past. I can see it's happening to a lot of people, but what can be done about it?
disturbed 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
this is disturbing because they seem to have identified me by a user name I use to play internet games! Anyone else feel identified?
Kem 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown

darnajedi 2009-08-03 22:16:31 Unknown
I have T-Mobile and recd this text message on July 29 at 7:54pm. It says "You have a new Credit Union security message. Call now toll free 1888-7491834." It sounded bogus. Banks or credit unions do not send you text messages to verify any information.
