I got a phone call from 18887576500 in the midnight 1:46am, they left a message , told me that they have a better rate waiting for me. plus let me understand the bill I got for the month.

This number appears on my bill charging me 27.39. I nor anyone in my household made this call.

Like many of the posters here, if it's probably fake. Sure, it is AT&T's phone#. They do not hangup and a person will not leave a message or ask for personal information. However, I do know that if you receive calls like this you have almost certainly been just added to an FBI/NSA list. They like to get voice samples and confirm information and so companies like AT&T are used and fake telemarketing firms are used. If it is from an 800# and they don't leave a message - or the message is to leave your name, address, etc, block the number, change yours, and if you see anything else strange - get a new phone.

Don't know why I'm getting call from this number.  They said I had placed the call to them.   I did not place the call.

i have 1-888-757-6500 on my phone along with a call to 1-877-737-2478 charged to my phone. i would like to know who these numbers are for as i don't recognize them.

I agree with you.  I also had this number on my telephone bill that was sent to me on my computer as well as (six) 6  toll calls, something about Duplicate Bills.  I talked to about six different people. The man that I talk to agreed to remove those, said his name was John. I did not notice that number or pin, so looks like I will have to make another phone call.

The 1 888 757 6500 is the tel number for PAYMENT OPTIONS.  It's listed in the back of the telephone bill, page 2 of 3.

It's a SCAM!   They just called me insisting that I owed $10.00, and if I didn't give make the payment over the phone, or arrange to make payment, than my service would be interrupted.  I told them I always pay me bill in full and I had just made a payment and there was NOTHING due.  

She insisted there was a remaining balance from the previous month (not true), and any payment I just made would not cover this old nonexistent balance...  I told her I would call VERIZON, my phone company (who she pretended to be), and discuss my balance with a representative whom I can reach myself from the 800 number on my bill....

Bottom line, don't give payment information over the phone to any incoming caller.  Only do it if you have called them, so you are clear on who you are authorizing your financial information to. Pay your bills in full (if you can), so you won?t get sucked into this clever SCAM.  And always look over all of your charges, and dispute or at least find out about inaccuracies?, so you are aware when you have been scammed.

My home phone line  is used solely as a fax line.  There is a charge for $8.45 for a long distance call to 1 888 757-6500 that was not made or authorized from this phone.  We have free long distance on our cell service.  When I call this number a recording does not identify who they are but tries to get you to press star and incur more charges.  I did not place this call and I want AT&T to credit my account for the amount of $8.45 charged to me in some sort of scam. I expect AT&T to be reputable enough not to support these scammers by billing me for services I neither used nor approved.

checking my bill i found a charge of 4.35 from 1-888-757-6500  at&t  only say at&t long distance service   i want it removed  it's a toll free number and service number  refuse to pay it's your right

Refuse to pay it. Deduct it from your bill. It is a AT&T's customer service number AND a toll free number. Read your bill - there a special address under Terms and Conditions to mail any payment that is being disputed. Send it there with your payment.

My husband just got off the phone with AT&T.  They tried to double bill us for long distance service.  Canceled L.D. several years ago, plus I had all my bills from January 2011.  Bottom line, they apologized and took the charges off the bill.  You have to watch them very closely.  I learned this the hard way once before.  Good luck and don't take any guff from them!

I'm hearing a lot of bad things about ATT...just now I got a bill showing nearly $5 for a call from this number, PLUS a $2 "minimum usage", PLUS a $2 per month increase in basic service.  My bill is about $10 higher than normal for just a landline (we use a cell for LD).  Soon as I can, ATT is HISTORY at my house. Shame, shame, shame.

I have received 2 calls from this #....offering lower rates on a Bell South charge card while I am being billed for this long distance #! Each time ID says Bell South. However, AT&T assures me that Bell South no longer exists so she cannot help me and does not know what to advise me to do.  She did tell me that there used to be an unadvertised Bell South charge card which I had never heard of. Not sure this is true. I think caller just hoped to get valuable info from me.
