This is from Alzheimer non-profit.
We made a donation, now get calls all of the time.

We received a hang-up call at 8:04 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2010. Caller ID showed "TOLL FREE CALL." When I called 888-771-2959, I listened to a short message from the Alzheimer's Association wherein I was instructed to press "1" to be placed on their do not call list.
The following is from the government's www*donotcall*gov website:
"Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request."

This number (and myriad other) has called daily, or very nearly so, over the last 2-3 weeks. Some, like this one, show "Toll Free Call" or "Tollfree number", others display "Alzheimer's" on the CID. Same MO, regardless -- rings a few times, never leaves a message.
Today I picked up & got "Mike from Infocision (a Google search revealed that Infocision is a telemarketing firm, what I refer to as "hired guns"), calling on behalf of the Alz..."
Not interested, DO NOT call back!
Although DH has contributed to the Alzheimer's Association in the past, if paying telemarketers to harass almost constantly for more $$ is what they're going to do with the donations, he'll find another worthy cause to support.
@ John - no, they don't call themselves, they just hire it done for them.
@ "Sick..." -- I think we get about a mailed solicitation just about every week, too.
diane schipke 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
stop calling!
Sick of the Alzheimer's Assoc. 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
We are continually receiving calls from the Alzheimer's Association. Calls from this number request that we contact our neighbors for them. While we have donated by mail to them in the past, we stopped after receiving over 50 mailed solicitations per year from them and their local chapters. Its hard not to believe that the bulk of our donations go to future solicitations! If you give, they will fill your mailbox with more requests!!!
John 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
I thought it highly unlikely that the Alzheimer's Association would make calls like this so I called their official number to ask. They said they do not make calls of any kind. I gave them the number and said they might want to pursue a lawsuit or report the fraudulent use of their good name.
BTW, when you ask to be removed from any list, you're more than likely getting your number put on a list of validated numbers that will be sold and used for further telemarketing. I never do this.

We've been getting these calls daily for 2 weeks. No one leaves a message.
It's very annoying.
Today I called them back. Alzheimer's Association.
Listened to the menu.
Press 1 to remove your number from the list. Or you could call 1-800-727-3900 to speak to a live representative.
I just pressed 1 to have my number removed. Then they ask for you to press the numbers of the phone you want removed.

I've gotten calls from this number for at least two weeks. I finally decided to look it up on Google. The Alzheimers Association will never get a donation from me after these harassing phone calls.
rstoer 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
We've been getting these calls for weeks, but never answer. Phone has rung as early as 8:00am and as late as 9:45pm
Brian 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
Got a call today from them. Their pitch is to send me a bunch of fliers about Alzheimers and I'd have to buy postage for each flier and mail to people in my neighborhood.

This is an autodialer for the Alzheimer's Assn. Autodialer calls several phones at once, first to answer gets connect, rest of the calls terminate but not until after your phone rings. I hate auto dialers.

I called the number back at 11:40 am MDT. A recorded message said it was the 'Alzheimers Organization' and they were sorry they missed me. Asked if I wanted more information about Alzheimer's to press 1 now. I hung up.
Mona 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
Call at 11:30 am MDT. No message but when you answer you can hear the hang up after you say hello a couple of times.
cathy 2011-06-06 21:05:58 Unknown
No answer, no message

Calls twice in one day.
Usually early to mid-morning.

Received an inordinate amount of calls from the Alzheimer's association spanning several months and literally over a hundred calls or more. Lost count months ago. They don't give up. Currently I have 20 associated phone numbers blocked (my limit) on my phone. I did research and found this email address where you can write to get yourself removed from the list: Info@alzz.org.
I also found this information on another internet post:
If you would like to remove your name from the call list, please call the Association's Contact Center which is open 24/7 to serve you at (800) 272-3900.
I did call to tell them it was disgraceful for an organization, supposedly doing good, to spam people with unending phone calls. They are worse than any other telemarketer I have ever encountered and will never see a penny of my money in donation.
I called the number and they said it would take 30 to 60 days to get my number removed from the list. Seriously????? They wanted my address.....seriously?????????? You got to be kidding.
Would love to take this to another level as it appears many, many people are being harassed with phone calls and many other people are just as angry, if not more. Any suggestions??? Report to newspaper or Congressmen?? This is inexcusable.

Third call from these people in 4 days. Told them on two occasions to have my name removed. Said they would. Total silence on 2 of the calls. On yesterdays call a lady actually spoke to me. I'm getting tired of this. A lawsuit is next. Bernie

I get calls from this number as well as several others all trackable back to" Alzheimers", according to existing reports from other complaining people. Sadly my Mom died of this terrible disease and I have now wound up be the Power of attorney and responsible party for an aunt similarly affected. I used to donate, thinking maybe my money was actually going to help in advances in a cure. If one looks at all the so called Alzheimers organizations it becomes confusing as to which one or ones might be legitimate and which ones are the constant naggers. I decided after asking the callers some questions and they hang to not contribute at all but this has not stopped the calls, usually three a day, all from different numbers. And to ask to be removed from their call list might stop from one of the many numbers they use, but to ge total relief I wish I knew a way and would be most pleased if somebody can come up with one. I have better ways to spend my time and nothing pissed me off than stopping to answer phone, and get a hang up or somebody who wants to ask all the questions but answer none of mine. All the more reason I am considering home phone removal.

The caller ID reads Toll Free Call, but if it is Alzheimer's, someone there must have Alzheimers because they are calling all the time from different numbers:
951-281-3716,
877-213-1826,
877-224-5803,
866-855-8398 and
888-771-2959

Have gotten calls from this number over several weeks. I do not answer the calls.
I have also gotten calls from (805)639-5101 which originates from Ventura,CA. Calls are in the morning, lunch time, and late afternoon. It not wanted and annoying.

I've received several calls from this number. I did not answer them, but I did just call back. It is Alzheimers Foundation, and they offered me the option of being removed from their calling list. I'm assuming that since I took them up on the offer, the calls will stop soon.

This is a female speaking Spanish, and it is always the same. Calls twice a day usually around ten and between three and four. "Holla......" I have learned that if I give a low, low scream they disconnect. I think it is a pay for call marketing or someone wants to know if I am home. Or it may be just a prank recording.

Calls every day. Leaves no message and if you pick up no one is there. Hold for a bit and it just hangs up itself. Caller ID TOLL FREE
