Every time I make appt with local hospital I get a call from this number about health insurance. I have talked to both the hospital and my insurance carrier and they both confirmed they would NOT call from other numbers. And would not ask for birthdate which this company does. They will not say nothing about what they want unless I give my DOB. My local hospital said they would only call to verify appt and would only ask for my by name. My insurance company I called by using number on back of card, which is not the same number, they also said they would not be calling about benefits unless was related to a past due balance being owed.

This is a data collection service. They are contracted by a local hospital to verify your name and health insurance info for an upcoming appointment. But they also collect as much additional information as possible to sell. Bear in mind that everything that you tell them except your name and health insurance info is to be sold far and wide.

I keep receiving these same calls, about a procedure I am having in a couple of weeks.  I have only answered the number once, and could not understand what the woman said the name of the company was, nor could I understand what it was in the many messages she left.  I told her I would consider the offer, but really thought I should go to the hospital my doctor wanted me to use.  She then quoted me prices, and said she was trying to save me money. I told her I would call her back if I changed my mind.  Today, another call which I did not answer.  In a few minutes, I am going to call the coordinator I spoke with at the hospital and see what she says.  The copayment amounts were so different, I really feel she was appealing to an interest in the money, because they were so different.

Call from Delray Hospital - asking for Fredrick Kohler, that he needed to call the hospital about his upcoming procedure.  Don't know old Fred, not going to call back.  They even gave out his 'account' number.  If it's legit, they just broke a number of HIPAA laws...

I was just noticing Mike's comments. How is it everyone [hundreds] responding to this scam/con telephone number recognizes the number as a complete attempt to obtain personal information from them and if providing that information will be a victim of a fradulent scheme and protects themselves as well as others, But,only one person "Mike' sees the number as legitimate. Could "Mike be a part of this scam. You tell me "Mike". I also just received a call from this Number. Same scam, want to register you for a medical procedure at a Hospital. Please folks do not fall for these telephone schemes. These are professional crooks who only want you to provide personal information that can ultimately ruin you and your families lives.Just a tip from former retired Law Enforcement

I have a medical procedure scheduled for Fri. 11/1/13. I got a call yesterday evening(10/24) from a woman at this number reminding me about the procedure and asking me for my personal information (driver's license, social security and insurance card #s) which I willingly gave. Later on, I became concerned when I noticed the call was from a toll free number and not from the hospital itself, especially after I read some of these other comments from sites like this one about the potential for fraud & identity theft. Today, I called the hospital first thing this morning to see if this was legitimate. They told me that yes indeed, they did use an out of state pre-registration company for all their patients and that this call was totally on the up and up. They then positively verified the fact that, as a result, I was now registered in their system to have the procedure performed. Bottom line, this number is NOT A SCAM, and it's totally okay to give them your information.

Got a call just now.  No name on caller ID.  She said she was calling to preregister me for an x-ray I do have scheduled.  Asked me to verify who I was by giving her my DOB.  At that point I told her that since the X-ray facility's id wasn't on the caller ID, I didn't feel comfortable giving personal info.  She very politely gave me a local number to call back.  I Googled it and no name is associated with it.

Caller leaves message with number to call and patient ID number.  Company is not identified in the message.  I called and spoke to a woman who refused to identify the company unless I identified myself first.  I refused.  She said she needed to pre-register my at a hospital of my choice.  Somehow, these people know that  a medical procedure was prescribed by my doctor.  What they don't know is that it's not surgery and will not be performed in a hospital.  In any case, I belong to an HMO and have no choice of facility.  This is a scam!  I'm calling my doctor's office and letting her know that somehow, this info is leaving her office.

It's a "pre-registration service" for any hospital owned by Tenet.  The story is that they are a part of Tenet, therefore can legally have access to our information.

Well, they ALLEGE that they're trying to pre-register you for tests at a local hospital, but who knows if that's true or not?  I'll take this up with my hospital b/c, if they did give them my information, that's a HIPAA violation, I'd think.

This is a service used by hospitals to preregister you for proceedures. They are required by HIPA laws to ask you for information to determine that they are speaking to the correct person before they give you any of the information they have on you. They will then tell you doctors name, your name address, insurance policy number and other info that only the hospital that the procedure is being performed in would have. They will then explain everything you need to do when you arrive on procedure day.

It was pre-registration of Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. It is a legitimate call. They need to have the incoming call show their name to avert missed calls and suspicion.

They are a Dallas based company that does pre-registration for various hospitals and clinics.  I was skeptical at first, but agreed to verify the information that they had.  In other words, say yes or no.  They are legit.

This number is legitimate. It is pre-registration service for a local hospital to speed up the paperwork when going in for surgery. They did not ask for any private information, just demographics stuff and religion preference.

You give out financial information to a person that calls you or on a return call that you did not initiate?  I worry about identity theft and refuse to give personal information over the phone unless I made the first call and know where I am calling.  Have enough trouble with money without adding more.

Whether the number is legit or not, you should never give out any kind of personal information over the phone.  There are so many scams out there it is too hard to tell.  They also called me offering to tell me of the out-of-pocket costs on a medical procedure that I am having tomorrow.  Wanted personal information to verify.  I will not give that type of information out to someone that calls me nor will I give it on a return call to them.  They initiated the call.  There is too much identity theft nowadays to risk that.  I believe that they make calls for a number of hospitals but that does not make it a good practice to give out information to strangers calling your home.  Not even a local number which makes you wary to start.

Just got a call from this number. Didn't recognize it so I didn't answer it. They didn't leave a message either. If it is some "hospital or medical service company trying to get pre-certification" well they are barking up the wrong tree with me. I don't do any of that over the phone, only in person at the doctors office or the hospital. Too many thieves out there wanting to shaft you!
