I was told he was calling from or on behalf of Bell Canada that I had won a free cellphone , free shipping in 5 days , and included free this, and free that, and then they wanted my Social Insurance Number and a credit card to just verify it was actually me they were talking to.. They would record all the phone conversation for SECURITY REASONS , I was told..
Good deal Eh... ?
I promptly told him that even "God Al Mighty" would never get my Social Insurance number from me ,..and if it was totally Free then why did they need my credit card number. ?? For security I was told.. Again I told him neither "Him" or Gold All Mighty was ever get my credit card information by calling me up in this manner..
He told me that his return number was 888-777-5141 and his name was Shawn.. Well I have called them got a little lady in repair service,, and it appears they are indeed a wireless company from Calgary.. The Phone number apparently is an American Number ..
Still they never got my Social Security number or did they get my Credit card Number but I wished them good luck...
Haha, exact same thing just happened to me! I just got off the phone with "Nick" from said company, telling me he was from Bell Mobility and that I had won a samsung flip, no fees yada yada, totally free and then he began to ask me for my Health Card number or my Social Insurance number.. Quickly I told him that I was not giving out my SIN number... He gave me the number 1-888-777-5141 and told me to call back and talk to his floor supervisor to "assure me that this was 100% confidential". After the chat with Nick I googled the number and low and behold this is what came up.. I'm not gonna bother calling his "supervisor" because in no way do they need THAT type of information to register a phone, even when you sign up for a contract you don't need anything like that... Funny how when anyone asks for ID they tell you to show anything BUT a health card, and this 'company' was ASKING for a health card number, very fishy.
I say stay away from the free phone, samsung flips suck anyway!!
Hi , i just got the same call and was wondreing if this is true becase they call me and said they were from bell mobility and they asked for my drivers licence number saying that i won a phone also before i realized that it might be a scam they got my licence number my name and my birthday.
I also received a call from these people and got the same bull @hi!...they asked for my license and assured me that it was to verify they were actually talking to me. They gave me this return number to call back and I did...5 times and guess what, 3 out of 5 times I got the same lady named Jennifer, and by the sound of her voice she was not a Jennifer, I asked to speak with her supervisor and she put me on hold and what i mean by hold is she put the receiver down and then picked it back up again and said her name was Ruby...when I asked for Ruby's supervisor a man named Maverick came on the phone and again assured me this was legit...I called Bell Mobility and they themselves called the number and said there is no way that Bell would conduct themselves in that manner and advised me to call the police and report the number just in case so that is what i'm gonna do.

OK so I gave them the info. and now i want out. but they do not answer the number they gave me. what now? Am I stuck?
Same scam here in Northern Alberta - offering a Free Smart Phone this time. They didn't even have our names, just our home phone number and claimed that Bell didn't already give them our names for 'confidentiality reasons'. I hate scam artists!
I too got the same call offering an awesome cell phone/texting plan & free phone with a 2 year contract. They said they were representing Solo Mobile (Part of Bell Canada).
I became suspicious when they asked for my credit card info , driver's license and/or social insurance number.
I do not have caller ID so I am not sure if 1-888-777-5141 is the actual number that called me.
The "senior supervisor" identified himself as Maverick Bell & said I could call the phone # and ask for him.
I immediately called the number & got a message saying they were closed & to call during office hours.
They did not get my information. I am just sorry that I gave my name, address and birth date :-(
Same as everyone else here. Great offer but they need my info. I asked him why he didn't know my name if I won a free phone from Aliant. If he was from Aliant should he not have my info already? I asked for a number to call him back and he gave me 888-777-5141. Not sure if I'll call back to bug them or not. I may give the RCMP station address down the street! :)
I called Jennifer back.
I asked what company is this,
she replied, this is an authorised bell dealer,
I said oh really,
Then she said they were a Bell World Store,
I said, no, that is not true, you just told me you were only a auth bell dealer, not the bell store itself.
I said, what is the name of your company,
She said, why would that matter,
I said, if i am to be giving you my business, I sure want to know, who the hell i am dealing with.
Then she said, Extreme Wireless.
The interesting thing is that, extreme wireless seems to only sell at&t products, no bell.
I've had this phone call a few times. This time is was Kevin from Bell & Solo Mobility saying they were sending me a free cell phone in 5 days. I told him my contract wasn't even up yet so I didn't qualify for a new phone. He asked hen my contract was due, and I told him HE should know that if he's calling from Bell. Then I told him it wasn't a good time and asked for his phone number so I could call him when it was convenient for me. It took abit of coaxing but he gave me the number 1-888-777-5141 along with telling me to ask for him, make sure I was talking to him only. Yeah, like I'm going to call him back.......NOT!!!!!
