Debt Collector
For some reason I cannot find my post from the other day.  I got involved with this mess simply because my family changed plans with T-Mobile a couple of years ago.  We have been bomboarded with phone calls for the previous owner, whome we have never heard of, ever since.  We do not know what they did, but we did receive a call about the person in question from legitimate law enforcement one time.  My husband, who was involved with federal law enforcement before an injury stopped him, talked to the legitimate officer who "got it".  We are not the person they were looking for, and they have never called back.  (To be honest I think my husband enjoyed the call with the officer since he misses his old job and liked the opportunity to give his opinion on how he would handle things.)  The problem is this alleged "GSA" doesn't get it.

Last Friday was the straw that broke the camel's back.  My husbands legal council returned on Wednesday and gave him some advice.  He would like us to start with a "Cease and Dissest" letter sent by certivied mail.  The problem is that the only address we have in Orlando, FL seems to be wrong.  Also their web site apparently is shut down.

Since we have a recording of one of their representative claiming to be a law firm, my husband has also been in touch with the Florida State Bar trying (without success so far) to confirm their credentials as attouneys.  The State Bar has mailed me some official complaint forms to fill out, but if they arent attourneys this will only fo so far.

We have also discovered that this company has an "F" rating with the Florida BBB (800 713 6661).

To be honest my husbands attourney want's to stop these calls with as little fuss as possible, but he owes my husband a favor, and when we had our four month child woken up the other day receiving about six calls within a half an hour this set my husband off.  I have never seen him so pissed.  He spent the weekend calling in old favors to remedy the situation.

We hope this is going to be the end of things but we need a good address.  If anyone knows it please post it.

Thanks.

My in-laws received a call from this number, claiming they were calling from Vital Records.  That they were holding some important documents,  for me to sign.  Thank God,  I checked on line first, just to confirm that it's some type of scam.

The only thing you can do is do not answr the phone short of to pick it up and hang it up. Don't talk to them, ignore them. Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.  One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

These people called me and said they would be serving me a subpoena today. They informed me that I would have to be home to sign for papers. I readjusted my schedule so I could be home.  Papers were due to be served between 9am-4pm. By 4:15 when noone had shown up I called the so called Mediator (Allen Parker) and he seemed to be upset that noone had shown up or called. He told me to hold tight and he would have someone call me to set up another time.  After talking with my daughter, she looked up the telephone number they were calling from, and she found out this is a SCAM. I don't really know who to contact about this BUT THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOPPED! Anyone have any advice for me? The scarey thing is they had ALL of my personal information,  gave me a case number and an amount owed to Capital One. I have NEVER had an account with Capital One!

Never let bullies on the phone confuse extortion with debt collection. Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "mediators", or "prelitigation specialists", only sweaty criminals with a script full of bullying remarks. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.

The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector, even a fake one, is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. The few remaining state lists share this limitation. Here are the DNCR service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:

National Do Not Call Registry Q&A
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry

I f I had a dollar for every cry of "they have all my information" ..... The thugs still do not possess *PROOF THAT YOU OWE*. Personal data is often collected from payday loan applications, whether or not they are granted. This means the security leak began with the victim being falsely accused of "check fraud", who gave away data to an industry which cannot be trusted!

Thank you for the advice but when i hung up on them they called right back and when I had had enough i hung up again that is when they called my family members and also my co workers telling them about this supposed case. So I had family members and co-workers upset 1) because they thought I was in trouble and 2) these people are very harassing and rude. They were telling these other people all kinds of lies and really ran me down!

I received another phone call from the same type of people. Said they were coming to take me to jail and then said they would do it at my work. They have called my family members and got them upset into thinking that I was in serious trouble. I am so sick of this and it doesn't seem to matter that i have registered all my phones through the Do Not Call registry. They have all my information which scares me since I have been a victim of identity theft. I don't know what else to do! No one seems to be listening I continually report it on here because at least i can voice my concern to others that have had it happen to them.

I tried explaining to ms Jones that i never owned a credit card, she quoted my social security no. to me whichI am terrified as to how these people have access to my no. They keep asking me am i going ti be home to receive this summons. I know this is a scam and ineed them to stoo calling and harassing me.

The best advice I can give you all is to not listen to anything they have to say!!  Say that you are confirming with the police and hang up the phone!  They continue to bully honest people.  Make sure to protect you identity by placing a fraud alert with the credit bureaus; Experian, Equifax and Transunion.

It is a free 90 day alert provided by the US government.  Check your credit report free one time a year at www.annualcreditreport.com....free service by the government.

Caller first called a family member claiming to be from the local sheriffs department. Left the 800 number (8887820263) with my family member to call with a "case number". When I called them back I was transferred to a "case worker" and then the nastiness started. This person identified themselves as Dexter Carter, claimed that I would be arrested at 1pm tomorrow, and that I owed The Bank of Delaware (which no longer exists due to a dept of justice lawsuit in 2012 shutting them down for FRAUD) money for some visa card that was TAKEN OUT IN MY NAME. The scary part was that they had ALLLL my information.

I have already complained with the Orlando police department, who said there is no such thing as the zip code they gave me, and I filed an internet fraud report.  I will continue to file with the FBI as well.  I will do whatever I can to hope and pray that these criminals are caught.

I got a call today from a family member because this number called for me with a case number and gave out personal information.  First of all, the number they called has never been on any loans, contacts, or any other information of mine.  They are looking up personal information on the internet to try to scare you.  They said I owe a loan from 2008.  I called the company they said I owed it to and , of course, they had never heard of me, or the loan.   I am reporting it to all of the authorities that I can.  These idiots have got to be stopped.   Of course, they are sending someone to serve me tomorrow.  I have been hearing that for years from these scam artist.  I have even told them where to meet me in the past, and of course, they didn't show up.  It is so frustrating that they continue to change their phone numbers and harass people.  I don't understand with today's technology why they can't be caught.  They can sure look up anything they want on you and try to scare you with it.
