they ask to speak with me but one recorded voice states my first name and a second voice asks for my last name. Neither sounds native to the US

I get a different call from this number. It is a law firm calling for someone not me and it is a native US speaker but a recording. The name of the firm and of the person this message is supposedly for is mumbled over.

Got call again for Leon Crosby.  Not me, have been getting these call for four years from different agencies to my personal cell phone.  They asked for my number to remove me from the list.  How many times do I have to be removed before this stops?

A friend told me I could have up to 5 numbers blocked for 90 days free with my cell phone provider.  Thank goodness for callier ID.  DONE

This number dials my fax machine once or twice a day, 7 days a week and hangs up.  I finally turned on Caller ID just to see who calls were coming from.  I called this number and it was answered by Capital Management.  They said they were trying to reach 'Joyce' -- I told them no one here now or ever has been with that number and to take number off of call list.  Calls are down to once a day but still continue.

I got a call from these fools tonight.  I didn't answer and when I listened to the voice mail they left, they apparently didn't know the phone was recording a voicemail..  My voicemail recorded about 2 minutes of background discussion between a few bill collectors.  I think it was a headset because I could hear breathing and the voices sounded like morons.  The used vulger language between them and you could also hear other collectors on the line discussing dollar figures.   Most of the background voices had accents or were very 'inter city' accents.  Basically sounded like a bunch of boiler room fools.

Someone at this number has called my cell phone number at least four times over the last four months, asking in broken English to speak to somebody whose name I have never heard.  I did ask for more information, but the caller would not give me any.  Maybe if I had enough information to bill them for the incoming minutes their wrong numbers or crank calls generate!!!

Got my cell phone about a year ago, and have been dealing with many random callers since then. I've had enough so I dedicated this whole day to calling these annoying companies. I called their 1 (888) 787-1182 number and told them to remove my number from their list. The operator was very kind and assured me they removed my number. I just found another number 1 (800) 960-2186 which is also Capital Management.

I st is I2:oo am and I just got a call from  888 787 11182 . When do they think people are going to rest.I am really tried of getting these LAT CALLS. restMaybe They will let me along for the rest of the night.I really hope so.

They keep calling my cell number about an account I paid along time ago.  I never get a chance to answer and they never leave a message.  I put them on my reject list on my phone so it ignores it.

I kept getting phone calls from this number on a daily basis, finally googled the number and found this site. I called the number back knowing it's a collection agency. I talked to Chris and politely explained my situation (emergency cell phone only, daily calls) and he "took me off their list" as they were looking for someone else. We shall see if they really did or not.

Thks is the most rude phone call -- they won't let you say a word.

Just had a call from these guys and I only just bought my mobile phone 2 days ago, and only 3 people have the number! I've only been on holiday in the US for 3 weeks lol. Goodness knows what they think they're after from me! Registered my number on donotcall.gov anyway. Thanks for the info all :)

These people drive me insane.  They call saying I owe them money, and they keep saying it's a medical bill. I haven't been to the hospital in over 2 years.  I double checked with the hospital and the one company which handles various ER billing for them.  Both said I was in the clear.  I called my primary care physician.  They said my account is clean.  I double checked my credit report and there is nothing on there about a late medical bill. These people are scammers, so they got a call from my family's lawyer.  I haven't heard from them since. Stupid f**kers.

These folks have been calling me for several YEARS. They call 2 or 3x a day, never leaving a message on my voice mail. I have given up speaking with them because they promise to take me off their "list" but they never do. I am guessing they are trying to collect a debt (I am guessing this debt is at least 10 years old) from my daughter who has not lived with me for at least 8 years now. Or, perhaps it's for my Ex's first wife's debt, from MANY years ago? I did receive a call from an agency trying to collect a debt from my  Ex's FIRST wife (I was the second wife), whom I have not had any contact with in at least 18 years! I AM on the "Do Not Call" list ever since it existed, but that makes no difference to these folks.

This is a collection call - we have NO DEBT or OUTSTANDING BILLS and they are obviously blind calling everyone with a name near ours. They ask for personal information. I tell them they are on CRACK if they think I'm giving it.

Dude - Go to www.ftc.gov and file a complaint there.  If they're abusing the FDCPA then that would be the place to start.  The FTC will investigate into the company further.  You can also send them a written notice to stop calling you.  They have to abide by that.  If they continue the calls after you send that, you can file that complaint with the FTC as well.  Hope that helps!

i have been getting calls frm this # several times a week. i have an answering machine and they leave no message. it is annoying and i have m.s. and dont appreicate this harrassment.

Contacting me and leaving voice mails for payment for someone other than me - I have gotten them on the phone in the past and have told them I am unaware of this person, but the person on the other end seems to believe I am covering for the person they are calling for and constantly asks for them - which is totally not the case - I have no idea who this person is.

Persistent calls placed to my cell phone since February 08.  I have no relationship with this company.  Agent always asks for someone whose name I do not recognize, then continues by asking for my name and personal information.  Reported to do not call list.

Kenneth.....I followed your link and read your very informative 12 pages.  Thank you!  I have done some of the things you listed, but have learned so much more (also made a few mistakes....but I'm learning).  This link is definitely worth reading.  I still recommend www.donotcall.gov to register home & cell/mobile phone numbers with the FTC to start the "legal" process for those who don't want to deal with these type of phone calls (unfortunately many of the bottom pond feeders don't abide by this do not call list).  Thanks, Kenneth, for taking the time to educate us with this helpful link that you set up!  I highly recommend reading this.  :)
